  • I know how many bad comments I'll get because, but I like this version more than Cliff's.

  • know any cannibal corpse??

  • i think Alex plays too fast for a cello, unless teh cello was played finger style solely

  • kick ass! Keep up the good work, you never know, someday you might play Orion on that thing :P

  • Great concept, but your intonation isn't that great and your technique is sloppy.

  • bare with me, I had only 1 year of practice behind that performance.

Trust me, Im working on it. Hopefully my bass background helped me a lot.

  • Good luck.

  • amazing

  • class.

  • damn. This makes me imagine i'm in a greek pantheon with socrates and cliff burton busts in and shreds socrates to death until he's dust in the wind. Yep, i'd say this is pretty epic

  • lol

  • rotfl

  • Socrates? lol damn man. The cello came around in the 1550s or something. Socrates was 400s B.C....lol. But still epic.

  • That's GOOD! Not just cuz it's Metallica, or C. L. Burton, no, it's good coz you put a heart in it! And some reverb, too (yum-yum)... now go and get some distortion and a wah-wah, then come back and play it again, Sam!

  • good 4 wat u can do on a cello

  • Nice but, and I'm sorry to say, your bowing is terrible, just need to practice a bit more, but good job so far

  • WOW. Your sound is killing me!! AWESOME!! Greetings from Poland :)

  • ...Well.. Its really good.

  • Nice work dude. You look like eric cantona in his footballing days :P

  • OMFG, YOU FUCKING ROCK!

  • if you think he sucks you do it better

  • u guys commenting that its all great cuz its metallica..

if ur a cello player like me.. u wud understand dat his bowing is horrible.. ur fingers are alryt but bowing is horrible!

  • nice job you did an awesome job

  • Pretty good, did Apocalyptica ever play this?

  • Nope, but it would be awesome

  • Cool, I play bass guitar and the Upright.

  • Dude, you should do like Master of Puppets or something ;P

  • brilliant!!

  • Beautiful

  • you tell us to stay metal, but its you thats not metal. how metal is playing a solo--made to be played on bass--on a cello? not very. Id say Kiss is more metal than your version of (anesthesia)--pulling teeth. Kiss isnt at all metal and Metallica is way better than them, but they're more metal than your version of your song

  • Metal and classical are very closely related if you look at the make up of each; both have similar chord progressions and are very mathematical. With that in mind playing a metal bass solo on a classical instrument makes sense. It's like all those bands that make rock versions of classical songs by artists like Beethoven.

  • Kiss is one of the first metal bands so you really can't say they aren't metal. Metallica on the other hand can actually be defined as a sub-genre of metal; thrash. So technically speaking Kiss is actually more metal then Metallica. Metallica just plays better music in my opinion.

  • Sorry SDau for such a long comment but I just had to say that. I really don't like all of the loosely thrown insults that occur so frequently over the web. Personally I love the fact that you arrange metal songs on the cello and I actually want to learn to play the cello so I can do the same thing. Anyways if you use any messengers or anything I'd love to talk sometime. Maybe you could give me a few pointers.

  • no, go watch "metal: a headbangers journey" on vh1. Kiss is "shock rock" not metal

  • Which apparently if it was on "Metal: A Headbangers Journey" then they are both sub-genres of metal.

  • no, cuz at the top row its, original hardrock, shockrock, power metal, and punk. everything below that was influenced by that stuff. for example, pop metal was influenced by orig. hard rock and shock rock, and thrash metal was influenced by NWOBHM and punk. So they're not sub-genres of metal, they just helped influence it, but they're still rock and not metal

  • I really don't want to argue about that. My point was you shouldn't go and start insulting or counterdicting what someone says specially if it really doesn't even matter. ie when he said stay metal.

  • im sorry it doesint go who ever came first is more metal !! and genres are bullshit are you gonna listen to the music or talk about genres?

  • Well argueing with muhgrats32 at least gives me an excuse to keep listening to this lol. Its one of my favorites SDau has done.

  • I think I ll pop a bag of popcorn, this discussion is pretty funny ^^

  • Better share some.

  • I think you made a mistake on the tabs. Since I play double bass I don't know. On the A note in the written music you put an open g on the tab. I might of made a mistake, but if you did make a mistake I just wanted to point it out.

  • Cello doesn't have the same turning as Bass and Double bass :x

  • Just the low string, but, the A,D,G strings are the same and you made the mistake where to put an open G but on the manuscript you put an A. Cello and Bass are both In Bass Clef anyway. Cello was called "Bass" before the Upright came out.

  • its cool but better on bass

  • ehh it could have been done way better... but it makes want to play the cello...

  • Considering you have only been playing for a short time, this is really great. Granted, there are some intonation and bowing issues that could have made this better...because you are playing metal, I might suggest that you try peppered hair and bass rosin. That will give you a much more..."metal-esque" sound. Of course, if you play classical too, you might not want to do that unless you have two bows...keep up the good work. You will, I'm sure, be a credit to metal-cellists everywhere.

  • Ty for the advice, I was currently looking for a new bow ^^

  • I might suggest that you don't get a wood bow if you want to have a bow for metal only. I only say this because if you start getting really into the music you could potentially thrash the bow. This would be very bad if you invested in a really nice wood bow...I have a composite bow for metal and it suits me just fine...and really cheap too.

  • that was great dude but sometimes it sounds to me like you're a little off beat...

  • its my 1st fretless instrument, I ll master it ;)

  • Oh ya your so hardcore-metal, playing a cello! Lmao !

  • no cliff wouldnt have cliff was awesome at bass. he woudl think the cello is desgracing the instrument that lead to his death. but it is coverd nicely

  • yeah well you obviously knew nothing about cliff

as he was a classicly trained pianist

thus meaning a classical version is more homage

  • sounds betta than otha people covering it on a bass

  • whoa! it sounds very nice, i always liked the sound of a cello, there should be a whole cd of metal classics played by cello! wait..oh, nevermind.

cliff shure would've like that, too.

  • fucking bad ass!

  • Beautiful, it's amazing how even orchestrated music can be metal!

  • Bad-ass! Apocalyptica has nothing on this, well they do... but they probably won't ever cover the song.

  • I liked the first one better the transition from piccicato(you know, picking. My latin is terrible) To bowing was a killer touch in my eye and very original. Puts two moods in the piece. Again very nice.

  • great job dude..! amazing vid..!

  • that was incredible

  • wow..nice!

  • WOW! That was awesome. such a beautiful arrangement and hearing it played on a chello was great. Good work.

  • Think is a good version, good job man
