Mrmsbigs......yes her dad is Lebanese and immigrated to Colombia where he married Shakira's mom who is Colombian. Shakira was born in Colombia and grew up inColombia, which makes her Colombian! So Pedro is right. She acknowledges her ancestry whenever it comes up in interviews but ALWAYS claims to be Colombian. (I think she now lives in the Bahamas w/her boyfriend.).

The look on the host's face is more about insecurity, shes not a professional presenter, she was a competitor in a reality singing contest and was only chosen to have a programme due to her nice face. But God, she needs more training, Shakira's too good for this interview!

The contrast between Shakira and the French interviewer shows, I think, the difference between the old world and new world personalities. The interviewer has this self-consciously sophisticated way about her; she is done up very elegantly and barely moves at all. Shakira, meanwhile, is quite animated and relaxed, barely has any makeup on and is just being herself with no pretensions.

@nine9s I think it's just part of the culture, I have traveled and I have the idea that Latin people (so me too) are raised more freely than european people. We start playing and dancing in the streets pretty young (most of the people I know) and for what I've seen it's not the same in Europe or Canada for example. We've grown in freedom so it makes us this way, i mean I look at shakira in this interview and her attitude reminds me of my mom!
