That would be so helpful bc I checked it out but there are a lot of setting that I would love to make sure I get right before buying this camera and getting the best quality video using my MAC and iMovie!!!

The files that come from the TM700 have a file extension of .MTS. The video format is 1080 / 60P AVCHD

@mazemillls When you transcode the .MTS file into something iMovie can edit (see my description), you don't lose picture quality. But once it's in iMovie, and you've edited it and exported it again, the picture will suffer a very slight generational loss. But it's something that most people won't be able to readily identify.

I have always loved macs, but frankly what is happening with their lack of friendliness with HD is really disappointing. I have iMovie too and everything looks like crap in it. I've read iMovie degrades image quality. People spend the most the can to get a good quality camera. Why would they be happy to lose quality in the editing program? Stupid on Apple's part. The footage here though looks the best I've seen from iMovie. Was that process really time consuming?

i just got the Panasonic tm700k and hsc 300. Now i have a problem getting the 1080p to recongnize in my imovie 2009 on my macbook pro. how do i get my high def files be shown in for edits with imovie?

And the mode that is recorded on this video how did you exctract it?

@LeRouz If you look above in the description, I describe the process of creating an MP4 file from iMovie. From there, just click the Upload link on your Youtube page to upload the MP4.

Actually the color in most shots is pretty good with this unit. You can change the white balance and add a polarizer too. Yeah, the fan is for heat but most users say that the fan noise doesn't show up on vids. You can go to manual and step down the mic a setting to or use the zoom mic setting. As for the OIS, you can go into any store or read the reviews. Camcorderinfo gave the Panny a 11.47 OIS score & the Canon HF S21 a 6.17. It killed in every other category too. $757 now at Amazon or B&H.

I have tried the Canons and everyone knows that the Panasonic and Sony are the only camcorders with good OIS systems that will eliminate shake throughout the zoom range. The Canon OIS is awfu and they're over pricedl.

I suppose the fan is for heat but since it has a flash drive I can't understand why they added it and not on the TM300. You can go to Amazon and read the comments. Amazon has the best price on the TM700 that I've found at $820. If anyone knows a better price I'd like to know.

@leefuji: Get this one! The dual OIS in this is so much better than the Canon it isn't even funny. Only the Sony compares. Far more features too like a viewfinder, and this unit has a wide 35mm lens.

It has WAY better low light capabilities than Canon. It has an internal fan that some folks find annoying though. The TM350 and even the TM300 are comparable though without the fan, but they have the 44mm lens.

@iankmil There is a way to encode 60p back to 24p do a google search on it. Canons are well know to have "Aliasing" problems.
