That's what I was thinking; the dogs built like a German Shepherd, which is big, but if you pay attention you'd realize wolves are a hell of a lot bigger than that. It's the coloring that gets people. Could be a wolf hybrid, though - I'm pretty sure they're legal unless otherwise specifically stated.

One of the things that bothers me about the series is how Riese doesn't seem to have a very good bond with her animal companion. Without that, the whole dynamic and appeal of the character falls apart in my eyes.

I agree. Right now, Fenrir just looks like her pet- Which makes you wonder why she keeps him around at all. There must be far better weapons to defend her in battles than a wolf. I wanna see what makes him so special =D Hopefully we get to see more of their relationship (history?) in the second chapter.

The final shot where Riese was walking with the wolf should have been re-shot. The wolf was just interested in the treats 97% of the time.

Exactly what I thought. That wasn't the only scene where it was clearly noticeable, but the most annoying one. Also, a scene in 15 seconds shouldn't be faded out (3:55), just looks thoughtless. Still, I remain a fan of the series =D
