Hey! A few little notes. I could not locate the "thermal" layer at the craft store, but did find some "Warm Tater" batting. After talking with the clerk and doing some research, I discovered that this does work as both the thermal and fluffy layers. (It has to do with water content in cotten and thermal transferrence, yada yada....). Took out one section of tracing and cutting. Little time saver.
Anyway, big hit for Christmas presents, and a GREAT prject for bonding time with my two daughters!
Why do you put the thermal batting on the "top" part of the cupcake? Because you don't grab hot things with that part, do you? Or is it so that the cupcake is a nice even thickness?
@PTuinman I did this because I thought not everyone would grab the pan with the base of the cupcake on the bottom. What if they flipped the oven mitt so the "frosting" part was on the bottom of the pan? (even though that would be incredibly dumb) They could possible get burnt... just a little foresight. (Keeping it an even thickness was another reason). Thanks for the feedback though! Let me know how it goes!
