@quarkwrok I agree with u I have had many rover 200's one ended up goin head on with a 3 ton transit van and I walked away :-) I still currently have a bubble and it's my pride and joy fuck all these haters British and proud
The only things wrong with the Rover 200 and 25 is;
poor legroom in the rear even on the 5 door model,
only merely adequate luggage space,
and poor EURONCAP score of three.
When so many have moved the game on tremendously this was stuck in the middle of the road not really knowing where it was going next or who it would appeal to.
@n880eua It'll only manage a handful of shopping bags at most;if you're not carrying anything in the back you can fold the seats to increase the luggage space but it's not flat which makes it a tad poor.
@AnthonyUK What you talkin bout willis. Mine regularly took 2 full old-style holiday cases AND room for some shopping bags whenever I took it down to France/Spain. Even if the NCAP is low for today's standards the roadholding and visibility are still so good you will be safer in the 200 bubble than a Fiesta or A2. tbh can't be bothered to do a list of positives. Did that when I chose it over the Megane, Astra and Focus way back when. glad I did.
@AnthonyUK Well rear legroom is a little bit of an issue, but luggage space and safety I would have to disagree on. The boot on a 25 is definately bit enouth, and with the folding seats, it's not too much of an issue. NCAP rating isn't too bad. If you consider the later 200 was designed in 1995, acheiving 3 compared to other supermini's at the time of 2 or even 1 isn't bad at all. Agree that other cars such as the Golf are safer through
my dad has a rover 200 on a n reg only got 43 miles on the clock from new. the last time it was started was 1997. my dad got ill the day after delvery and never got it back on the road. the garage has not been open 12 years. i think i may brack the lock and take a look. poor car lol
These weren't bad cars but Rover would still have been it business if they'd replaced them, I know they changed the names from 200 to 25 and 400 to 45 but they were still the same basic designs in 2005 to what they were when new in 1995
This was the same problem with the Rover Metro when they renamed it to 100. It was so far behind the compitition in 1995 when renamed to the 100 with cars like the new Polo and Fiesta coming out which, at the time, were king of the hill for just about everything, including a certain 1997 NCAP crash test.

3 is average for euroncap,4 is better. A 4 star rated car better protects driver and passengers without highly serious injury.

@AnthonyUK I think you will find even to this day the boot space in the R3 200 and 25 is still the biggest in class.

@AnthonyUK Can't fold the seats flat? So that's where Ford got the idea from for the new Fiesta!

P.S. I did think though that the Rover 200/25 was a good looking car, especially in later MG ZR form.

What is the name of the song and artist for this advert?
thebaldmanuk 2 years ago
It's a track by Sparks called This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us. Possibly the "'99 edit"...apparently.
