  • What rounds were you using?

  • 3:45 looks like you`re shooting up in the sky until you realize it`s a tree not a cloud.

  • As always I enjoy your video's, please keep them coming !

  • the rifles of the time of ww1 were classics.specially the one who use the bolt action.

  • I want to try that with a mauser G98. Could be nice!

  • Wish we had a range like that here in the Netherlands. I'm a high-power rifle shooter, but the only ranges nearby are a 100 meters. We have a 300 meter range across the country (like 5 hour drive), and we used to have a 1200 meter military range that was open to civillian shooters, but they closed that down for some reason.

  • @viktorgorchev Ook hier in België kunnen we daar alleen maar van dromen,...

  • Never gets old seeing a bullet arc like that. Same for the delay between shot and the ringing of steel. Great vid.

  • I'm tagging along with you when the zombies come! Impressive shooting!!

  • how do you get that military grade rifle shooting a thousand yards over a box with a rag on top,and adjust for the wind??????????????

  • @corydmaley Three reasons, 1) the 1903 Springfield has always been one of the finest, and most accurate military rifle ever manufactured, 2) I’m using my own hand loaded match ammunition, and 3) I am the one shooting it.

Babe Ruth said if you can do it then it aint bragging. I’ve been shooting high-powered rifles now for over 30 years; it is one of the few things I’m very good at

  • Hi, I ordered an S&K scope mount for my 1903, but broke the barrel band when installing. There wasn't sufficient space between the front of the mount and the leaf rear sight. I see that your mount had the same problem where you machined the mount face so it would fit. It should also be noted that some stock inletting is required. Does that inletting hurt the rifle collector value?

  • im using only a 4X32 with my 03A3, and so far i can hit 750 meters...

  • M1 Garand with Scope?

  • @pustakaaristoteles no. this is the M1903. fires either a similar cartridge, or the same cartridge as the M1. this one is bolt action.

  • @pustakaaristoteles im guessing you can't read -_-

  • Which gun are you using the 1903 with .30-03 Spingfield or you using the 1903 in .30-06?

  • what was that? ITS TO LONG!

  • When the Americans(MARINES) went to war in ww1 they were picking off the Germans@ over 700 yards with this rifle at Bella Woods.

  • Is that a stock Barrel? I bougt a DOUGLAS for one of mine and it shoots better than just about any rifle out there.

When I take it Moose hunting or for Caribou there are a lot of guides and other hunters that ask to take a look at it, I invested over 2grand into it and it is a tack driver at 400 yards. My other stock 03A3s that needed to have the barrels change got the same new Barrels and shoot with stock sights.

  • Be still my beating heart

  • how big is the target?? nonethe less GREAT SHOOTING!!!!! im a big fan of the 03...is there anyway of getting a non replica in NYC? cuse apparently in the borrows we can't have a working rifle...i haven't read up on it but if you can help that would be great!!

  • How much costs one of those ?

  • @zumbazumba1 varies. Look on gunbroker for some auctions that are going on. Also, at a local mil surplus store you can check them out. The good ones can be 800 but sometimes they can be 150 ish! :)

  • What is the magnification on the 1903's scope?

  • Shooting my first 1903 match tomorrow, any tips on the 1903 you can give me? Thanks

  • Great vid man. I was wondering.. im not the best with sniper rifles but is it possible to put a scope on the 1903 30-06 or is it only able to be fired with iron sights

  • at what degree was the incline to the target? from the sky view it looked kinda steep. maybe 10~15 degrees? if it was at 17.5 degrees you would have to adjust to 1001 yards on a 1050 yard range. maybe thats why they made it 1050yds?

  • how well does that mount hold zero?

  • S & K Springfield 1903 Scope Mount Part # 1470 ( I just typed it out so people can copy easy). I have a 1903 Springfield also and I also shoot at the DMR. I haven't done the 1000 yard yet.

Nice video. I liked the fly-in from aerial view. Well done.

  • great gun for when the Russian's come, till then anyway, amazing hunting and match gun i wish i could afford a good one like that, they run well in the 1000's i just don't have that kind of money, especially since the ammo is expensive too... :(

  • (me shooting at 50 yards) *miss* *miss* *miss* *miss* * miss* *click* (you shooting at 1000 yards) *hit* *miss* *miss * *hit *

  • @gravyforgetter i just got mine for the 03 but i think the rings are too low ??.

  • What is the reloading data you are using for your 30-06?

  • Are those tracers?

  • @zagstrukk Its just the way the light hits the bullet, I didnt realise how clear it was until I came home and reviewed the recording, it looked neat, I wish they all did that... :-)

  • @mag30th what kind of scope are you using?

  • @mag30th Great Video but I have to know, where can I find a range that has 1,000 targets set up? I am asking cause I just fired my dad's mosin nagant yesterday and am going to by a scope later and I want to hit a target that far.

  • @zagstrukk with tracers you wouldn't hit anything at 1000 yards... very nice video

  • @Wiggling Yes, you can its just more difficult.

  • @zagstrukk that's what i wanted to say buddy... a lot more difficult... tracers aren't for accurate shooting - they have other puropses

  • @zagstrukk using tracers at that gun range would be dumb unless you want to pay the govt. to put the fire out

  • @69fastbacklover They were not tracers, it was just the angle the light was siriking the field at that time of morning, 20 minutes later, they were not noticable whatsoever. Besides, US tracers are yellow, not white.

  • @mag30th i know i was replying to another asking if they where tracers

  • Man I want one of those for the 1903 Springfield...

  • whoever sends you hate mail are retards. guns arent meant to be on a wall unless the dont work anymore. their meant to be used

  • whoever sends you hate mail are retards. guns arent meant to be on a wall unless the dont work anymore. their meant to be used

  • The definition rapid fire is a bit misleading. During my armytime we used the sniperversion of the 1903 (calling it M1917 or P14). We trained mainly at 800 meters, but on distances of 300 meters used rapid fire meaning emptying full mag (five rounds) in the same number of seconds. In the beginning it was hard to hit anything at all, but after a couple of hundred rounds You get the hang of it and get the hits. Fun to watch the clips. Haven´t seen or shot a 1903 since 74.

  • what is your opinion on the springfields that are fitted with a 2 groove barrel , do the standarg barrels have a big advantage in terms of accuracy ?

  • My 90 Y/O father just gave me his a month ago. It is made by remington. I think it was manufactured in 1943. It is really great shooting rifle. I bet with a little practice I could get head shots at 600-700 yards of a bench with the iron sights. John Moses Browning did a great job designing this rifle.

  • wow!! i now have major wood,,, know wonder sgt york kicked soooh much ass! ty 4 posting....

  • Thanks for the S&K reference! I might just have to find one of those for mine

  • I had an Uncle, passed away last year who was at Saipan and Iwo Jima in the Navy. He told me about times on Saipan when marines with M1's and '03's (iron sights) would bet packs of cigarettes on picking off japs from one hilltop to another, 800 yds. "Them southern boys could shoot"! he always said.

"You could see 'em and one of the Gyrenes would take a shot and a second later the japs would scurry around like ants and hide but in awhile they'd come back out and they'd pop another, never missed".

  • Now that's coming down hard on the enemy

  • So which mounts did you go with? I was planning on getting a Gibbs 1903 rifle and putting a redfield scope on it (33mm objective). Which ring height would be best?

  • Awesome video. It's awesome to see people with sheer skill be able to out-shoot people who spend literally s****-tons more money on a rifle platform (1903 as capable as an m24 lol). It gives me inspiration that I could hone my skills to do the same thing with affordable equipment.

  • Id love to see what you could do from the prone with the ladder type sight man.

  • I was really impressed by how much time it takes for the bullet to hit the target at that distance !

  • you can see the vapor trail of the bullet

  • Guns are meant to me shot

  • I hope to get this or a Mosin-Nagant one day, which has more distance?

  • @gunman30001 depends on the round they fire. Im pretty sure both can reach out to a 1000 yards and be accurate. but im not sure how well they will do past that.

  • @gunman30001 If you can afford it, get the Springfield

  • @perkalator104 How much average? I really like this rifle, when something catches my eye or taste i usually never settle for less.

  • @The1FastGP Umm 700 to over a 1000

  • @perkalator104 Dang, i better ask Santa for it. LOL

  • So far in looking up 3 videos for my favourite old guns it seems that you have all of them. Nice weapon sir. I'll never likely be able to afford one but I said the same about my enfield before I bought it. It's neat seeing the rifle that began the (to date anyway) most popular hunting cartridge ever in action.

  • could u8 be ur own spotter with a sniper scope or is the spotters binocular neccessary?

  • Great as usual! Can I give you an interesting advice? Wen you'll have time , I'd like to see the camera zoomed on your position FROM the target. In that way we could see how does it feels like taking fire from 1000 yards. I think it would be awesome. A friend of mine has already done that with an MG42 at a much shorter distance though, results were AMAZING. Do take care man!

  • So between the Kar98k in 8mm Mauser and the M1903 in .30-06 which is better suited for 1,000 yards?

  • @disturbedone5009 the 03. :-)

  • @mag30th

Is the 03 more accurate or is the .30-06 round better for 1k?

  • @mag30th 4 real?

    Why?

  • @mag30th

    thats american engineering for ya

  • are you ex-military? those are extremely impressive shots.

  • @mag30th Im not sure but you could may not be so quick to assume it is better. If you've ever read the "Black Devil Brigade", which is a book based on interviews with veterans of the First Special Service Force (the first ever Allied/U.S. elite unit, they will occasionally talk about the supreme quality of the Mauser and how it took the lives of many of their men. The FSSF was a combination of US and Canadian parachute divisions. By the way, It's one of the best books I've ever read, read it.

  • Hi, I also have a 1903 which I just rejuvenated with a CMP stock. I have ordered a S&K scope mount for it. Might be arriving tomorrow. I am doing research now on a scope and weaver type rings, and watching your vid on your 1903, I'm wondering what scope and rings you were using in your vid. Read comments, but none of that info is in there. Thanks. Gus.

  • Is the .30 06 still super sonic at 1,050 yds?

  • Great job. Beautiful rifle Ernest. I know your love of classic scopes, but that one looks more modern. What might it be?

  • Good shooting Mag. By the way where do you get these old rifles?

  • good shooting

  • Mag30th i was just wanderin where did u purchase ur 1903 Springfield from if u dont mind please respawn and let me know im tryin to collect all WW2 rifles i already have the K98, Mosin Nagant 91/30, and the Swiss K31 i would appreciate ur help.

  • You should read about George Farr at the 1921 National Matches....US Army issued 1903 rifle...issued Frankford Arsenal Ball ammo...71 consecutive bullseyes at 1000 yards using open sights.

  • Every springfield rifle made after 1906 was chamberded in the .30-06 round.

  • i love the .30-06 as a sniper rifle round and my 7.62x39mm is a really good intermediat round.

  • Another great test at a very

    long distance with an interesting

rifle. Was the ammo 30-06 ?

  • Always bringing the good videos. Thanks! =D

  • Thanks! Let me know if they work well for you, I have only tried the one made for the 03 and Im very happy with it, hopefully yours are as problem free as mine is. But like I said, please let me know how well they mount and if any modifications were required, Thank you!

  • @mag30th excellent shooting and excellent rifle, great scope choice as well, is that the leopould 2-7x? anyways i dont understand why every one is obsessed with 56mm lens scopes that are 3 ft long these days they arent necessary to do long range shooting as u have proved in this video.

  • Damn, you could be an expert marksman in the army!!

    As usual, great video!

  • @OgamerNL

but not the Marine Corps lol

army's 1st class marksman is like a 3rd class Marine marksman

  • @Sturmmann ERIGHT DUDE!

  • I see that's a different range than your desert shooting videos. I love the layout - envy your getting to use such a nice one. Love the '03 - one of the greatest rifles ever. I'd love chatting with you "offline" about long-range shooting. Not sure how we can get in touch; never tried via YouTube...

  • Great shooting man.

Seems to be a fine caliber.

    Must try that sometime soon.

    5 stars

  • excellent shooting i love watching your vids! keep it up!

  • Great shooting as always... do you happen to know if that mount will work on the 03-A3? Or would the rear sight be in the way?

  • Thanks! They make a scope mount for the 03-a3 as well.

  • Great shooting as always. Thank you!

You're doing an awesome job at filming too. I hope you'll take my advice next time you try filming a target that far:

    Mind the sun.

It's obvious that sunlight is hitting right on the camera lens, and it's a shame.

even a home-built lens hood would do an amazing trick. a long hood at that, since you're using the longest end of the zoom.

  • Ill try that on the next one, Im not very good with the camera, so please send me all the advice you wish! Thank you! Ernest.

  • If only I could find one of them. And if I had the money :)

  • Was I seeing the bullets when you were shooting at 850?

  • yes

  • Is that a building you are shooting over?

Do you think a 223 out of a 16 inch barrel could hit the steel at that distance?

    Thanks for making these vids.

It's really fun to watch long range shooting.

  • 16" might be a little bit short, but there are people who shoot bolt action 223s out to over 1000 yards.

As long as you know your muzzle velocity and can compensate for it then you should be good.

  • Yes, it is a building Im shooting over. From the building you can shoot the 650 and 850 targets. That entire portion of the range is closed down when we shoot the 1000+ yard targets.

  • Just amazing, I know I have told you that 100 times but for me the laws of physics seem to be more the like the suggestions of physics. LOL Beyond 500 my bullits seem to do whatever they want and they sure don't seem to want to obey any silly laws of physics. :( lol Good Day !!

  • :-) Thank you! :-)

  • @shananagans5 Your bullets are probably going subsonic there. They de-stabilize when they do. The distance at which a bullet goes subsonic depends on many factors, not the least of which are muzzle velocity, weight and ballistic coefficient. Best to you.

  • @palehorseone Ernest is amazing isn't he?

The funny thing about my 500 yard max is when I am being watched/coached by my uncles friend(former sniper) I am fair out to 800 or so but when I try to do it on my own it seems to fall apart. The really funny thing is when I am being coached its in Oklahoma at near sea level then at home I am at 5000ft with dryer air. lol I should shoot better here. I am using a .308 so it should still be supersonic. Long range is just not where my talent is.

  • is there enough energy to knock out human from that 1000 yards ?

  • A big rifle at that range is going to be similar to a big handgun at close range. They still have some umph to them.

  • @kingofheartsxyz If you watch the video it says that the rounds used are putting out 640 ft lbs on the target and are still traveling 1050ft/s when hitting the target. Thats well more then enough to shoot a hole right through most peoples bodies or head. It would still be very lethal at that distance. Most rounds I use in my .357 Magnum put out between 600-700ft/lbs at the muzzle and nobody questions the stopping power of that legendary handgun.

  • Thanks for posting good stuff

  • That can't be an original barrel, can it?!!!!!??

    Very fine shooting.

  • Im sorry, I errorred when I stated 100 percent matching, the recover bolt and stock (correct cartouches) are all matching, the barrel was replaced in 1930. My error, Ill insert a correction notation in the video. I apologize. Ernest.

  • @mag30th No problem at all. I have a 1903 WW2 barreled and THAT has been well shot out. So I was wondering where you found a good shooter from 1918!

    It's still good shooting!

  • well done
