  • "Could that be the greater power?" "Nope! It's just Chuck Testa!"

  • And now we have Santino in the main event in the last pay-per-view before Mania. Pathetic.

  • @The15Clarke Keeping in mind that once the Brooklyn Brawler beat Triple H in a main event during the WWF Attitude Era's prime? Nothing has changed in that regard.

  • i wish i was born earlier so i could have seen through this era rather than late atitude and fucking pg

  • I remember watching this when I was 8, i thought it had to be Kane without his mask. But apparently it was Vince

  • @647JC I read somewhere that the reason Vince was chosen as the greater power was because he had just turned face. Then on WCW, Eric Bischoff who had been heel from 96-99, followed and became a face. Vince saw it as a pattern so he became a heel again. I doubt it but that was something I read somewhere, I'm sure Vince will mention the ministry era if/when he decides to write a book on his life and storylines.

  • This was when WWE really made you absolutely HAVE to catch Raw next week. Great days.

  • IT'S ME AUSTIN!!!!

  • Wasn't it supposed to be Jake the Snake Roberts??

  • @RyalityTV

oh how great that would have been.

imagine the promos, the ring work!

it also would have saved us from the mr mcmahon character that refuses to go away.

no hbk and god vs mcmahons

no dx re-re-re-re-reunion vs the spirit squad and mcmahon

    no heart mcmahon

oh they almost didn't ruin wrestling forever...

  • Vintage Big Daddy V!!!

  • LOL look at bossman after he receives the stunner

  • the greater power is Vince McMahon.

  • @theshawnman100 Talk about an anticlimax!

  • austin looked like he was just gonna rip anyone limb from limb at the end

  • they shouldve made kane the greater power.

  • i didnt like the higher power. It kind of runined it when they did that. Especially when it was vince

  • @Volos1210 the meaning behind it is that mcmahon is a freemason

  • i just got chills like my soul is darkening....

  • i feel like i just lost my faith in the lord and went to the most unholy place on earth and gave my life to darkness

  • @mozilla yeah I remember always hoping it was going to be Jake. He was there at the birth of 3:16 (Austin beat him to win King of The Ring) and they could have done so much with Jake's previous demon-worship "trust me" persona. If only they could have kept him off the crack...

  • Man, listen to that crowd!

  • ATTITUDE ERA CLIFFHANGERS!!!!! Fuck I miss them!!!

  • i think it would have been great if the higher power would have been jake the snake

  • I agree this Undertaker was awesome he always scared the shit outta me lol

  • I remember watching this when I was 9 and almost in tears because they had austin tied up lol

  • The Lord of Darkness Undertaker was the best:)

  • i remember watching this live and saying "Dammit!! McMahon got me again!"

  • I was there that night..... 5th row on the floor, tv side..... Moline,IL it was a huge deal... WWF had never televised Monday Night Raw there until that night, I was 15 at the time.... fucking awesome

  • Clearly it's Jake the Snake Roberts.

  • McMahon was actually courting Mike Tyson to be the Higher Power, which is why Austin looked so pissed. The deal fell through, so it ended up being Vince all along despite the MoD attacking his family for the past 6 months.

  • @reivenlocke thats complete bollocks

  • @stokieaggro1863

Google search it. There are still wrestling sheet archives from 1999 floating around with this information. HBK was hinting to people that the higher power would be a convict and have a lisp. Tyson was also seen backstage at RAW a few times as the angle was drawing to a close.

  • @reivenlocke no shit sorry looked it up sorry bro

  • this angle made complete sense. Vince knew it would not be easy getting the title from Austin after he won it from The Rock art WMXV. After all a year earlier Austin became champion, and Vince had a hard time screwing Austin out of the title. So this time around he tried something different. Brought in his innocent daughter and made her a victim of his diabolical plot. This somewhat got Austin to trust McMahon. Which was Austin's mistake. the anonymous Gm storyline today doesn't make sense.

  • Jake the Snake would have been a brilliant contender, can just imagine him as the dark satanic gimmick or else The Million Dollar Man or a Heel Ultimate Warrior would have been interesting

  • This was probably the best storyline done along with the original nWo.

  • Why did Big Boss Man have an orgasm after getting the stunner from Austin??

  • The Greater Power has to be the Anonymous Raw GM! It all makes sense! The Attitude Era fell victim to some stupid storylines as well. It wasn't perfect. The Greater Power nonsense was bonkers.

  • @sbrooks187

it could have been done well. i remember what a letdown it was with it being vince. what a waste. heard it was supposed to be jake the snake.

  • anyone got the whole of this episode uploaded and the follow up episode

  • Man austin was Just badass

  • That was on my birthday

  • the day after my birthday

  • Comment removed

  • this would have been more epic....if it had been Father James Mitchell. IMO

  • @Lamont3356: No. Paul Bearer served that role better than James Mitchell ever could. In fact, Judias Mathias was a poor man's Taker, just like Abyss has remained a poor man's mix of heel Mankind & Masked Kane.

  • it would be great to be sitting there behind them with a flashlight and just have it on the "greater power"

  • One week later...

    Vince McMahon: It's me, Austin!

JR: Aw, son of a bitch.

  • Comment removed

  • And this was just regular cable.....these days will not come back

  • 24 people were still disappointed that it wasn't kevin sullivan

  • the greater power was reveald on my bday

  • Ahh son of a bitch!

  • IT'S ME AUSTIN!!!

  • aha terrible stunner, botched for sure on bossman.

  • ive been watching WWF since i was 3 may someone explain to me this higher power angle i dont remember it that well! Man the WWF/WWE writing had so many twists and turns and the audience really did get shocked at times! Even in the WWE 2002-06 was better than WWE now! Last great year was 04 last good year was 06 and 07 to now is bulshit! but it has been a bit better since rocky has came back

  • There's just not a "buzz" in the crowd, like there used to be back then.

  • @gbinct Only time I felt that buzz was Money in the Bank,Punk vs Cena.Other then that yeah noone just cares.

  • @SavageScott1005 AW SON OF A BITCH!

  • does anyone remember a rumour that jake the snake was the higher power as a guess. it was quite daft to who it was in the end

  • @richeyrko Like it was yesterday my friend. Like it was yesterday.

  • The peak of Russoism's cancer on the wrestling world. JR sucked ass, too many swerves to count and matches just never ended clean, ever. Austin's legacy got destroyed by this overbooking crap.

  • LOL, when I was a kid and saw this, and then it was revealed that it was Vince, I was so upset that I almost cried. XD

  • @TheVampireLucinda ME TOO!!!! LOL

  • I always wondered what the name of that Gregorian Chant was........

  • @TheJeffman1985 Da pacem Domine

  • @Hitmonchan107 Thanks!

  • In my opinion, this one one of the biggeest swerves in WWE/F history

  • IT WAS ME AUSTIN!! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!!!! AWWW SON OF BITCH!

  • this must of been one of few storylines vince let russo have created control because Mr. Mcmahon being the higher power made no sense, in my opinion one of the worst storylines of the attitude era .

  • L3GEND3SIXTEEN wen are u gonna have that upload when Austins becomes the CEO?

  • i wonder who was suppose to be the greater power?

  • @gothsoul82 It was Vince MCMahon

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN no i know that lol i was just wondering besides him i wonder who they would have gotten for that gimmick?

  • @gothsoul82 hmm no idea. the whole "higher power" thing was for vince mcmahon to leave the WWF( get off TV,he had been there since 98),3 shows after this he left.(after the fullyLoaded ppv..) then he came back for the build up to the HHH vs Rock vs Austin fight at survivor series as a FACE...basically what im tryna say is nothing made sense and the higher power thing was stupid.

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN that ending part to that post cracked me ALL up haha because it's true

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN hmm Do U Have The Episode Of Next Week Or Atleast When Undertaker Faces Big Show 1On1 In The End Undertaker Went For A Flying Clothesline But Got Chockslamed By Big Show Then The Referee Rings The Bell And Undertaker Retains The Title Do U Have It

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN he came back because HHH was abusing Linda and challenged him to a match he didn't come back for survivor series

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN yea but king of the ring was after this and he was still on tv. he didn't leave till fully loaded 2 months after this. by this point now we knew that this was the austin/mcmahon endgame and it was going to end.

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN sop with the wrong information please. This led to the King of the Ring Ladder Match between Stone Cold and Vince & Shane McMahon. Where the balance of the company was at stake, thanks to Linda and Stephanie handing their share to Austin, just to get back at McMahon. Austin got screwed at KOTR, the McMahons won that match. this led to an Austin vs Undertaker match on Raw, where he (Austin) won the WWF Title. This led to the End of An Era First Blood Match for the WWF Title at FL.

  • *correction: stop with the wrong info.

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN not really, it did help taker

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN i don't know i kinda dig this storyline. it's better than the crap they have today although cm punk is the best thing going for the wwe right now.

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN even the undertaker himself thought it was a stupid idea

  • @gothsoul82 jake the snake

  • @mozzillla thnx he would have been a great one

  • @mozzillla it's who it should've been

  • @mozzillla should've been the higher power... for pay back of king of the ring 1996, and jake the snake roberts and taker did work together once before back in 1991... having the higher power as vince was a cop out

  • @mozzillla Damn, I do remember when everyone thought it was jake the snake. I thought it was him then too.

  • @gothsoul82 According to Mick Foley, it was supposed to be him, but he didn't think he had it left in him to be the type of heel the role required. Besides, he was thinking of retiring at this point and he wanted to go out as Cactus Jack.

  • @L3GEND3SIXTEEN I heard he was not supposed to be the hire power originally. But to Vince, it seemed like Bischoff copied everything Vince was. Vince turned face so did Bischoff right after that. I think Vince didn't want Bischoff to copy everything Vince was doing for cheap ratings.

  • @gothsoul82 its been speculated that Owen Hart would've been had he not passed away

  • ITS ME AUSTIN lol

  • Thanks iv been looking for this for ages....

  • Can you please upload the day when the Greater Power is revealed? The pop Austin got was phenomenal.

  • good ol' days

  • @xxCMxxPunk Yep I was goin on 13 when this happened
