And the 300 Straight six made by ford makes more power, torque, and has better engine life than the (stock) chevrolete 250 straight. Not to mention they have been in Ford trucks in some shape or form since Ford first introduced the engine in the early 20's. Though production stopped in america in the early 90's, there still put in F-series trucks in australia.
That doesn't sound right. Ford didn't introduce a six into the lineup until 1941 AFAIK (apparently his earlier company built a Ford six, but that was in the 00's). And that one was a flathead. They skipped sixes straight to eights in 1932.
I have heard lots of good things about the 300cid, though.
I didint really do my homework on the dates, apparently. I know they had 6's of some kind in there early semi's and the like. I've been around 300 straights, old and new, and you can really feel the torque. (probably becouse it has alot less horsepower than torque, my ranger is the same way) the old F-100 i've driven once was an interesting experience. It had some kind of aftermarket exhaust that, on that motor, produced a very interesting tone. The power you felt did not match the sound, i gues
