you dont have to remove the brake calipers, just remove the lower shock mount bolt, the main axle nut and cotter pin and the bolt holding the steering link, thats it. good video but you made it tougher than it had to be

If iv been riding my 660 grizzly like a retard knowing that the boot was ripped and deciding to ride it anyway untill it started to click then continued riding it >_<... would this be what needs fixed? the bearing? it clicks really loud especially on turns...
I have a Computer progam that is explains how to do this and the best way to remove the axle is using a slide hammer i have one used it and it worked awesome.....good video
I have a 2009 TRV 550 that looks very simular to your machine. I tore the outter boot on the rear and was wondering if anybody knew if I could change the boot without having to take the inner joint apart. I have the shaft out already and am waiting for parts and a service manual. How do I get the cv joint off the shaft, I see no C-clips and it appears that the joing has to be pressed off. Is it the same type of clip that holds the shaft into the rear?
@dickie1602 Look at the video around the 6:27 mark, and you should see the recessed area just inside the rim where this clip is. It's just like a split ring, and you have to get a sharp tool or something to dig under it at the point where there may be the same little recessed area to get at it. You might have to nudge the ring around a bit in order for the split area (ends of the ring) to be visible in the recessed spot where you did it out. You'll want to take it apart to clean it out.

To get that C clip off, I just used a pointed tool to dig under the clip to pry it out. On mine at least, there is a little gap at one point, that provides a spot to get a tool under the clip.

You're welcome. For the clamps in the Arctic Cat boot kit, I just squeezed the clamp together with needle nose pliers. It shouldn't need much force to get the clamp together, and if it is, as I found on one occassion, it was because the boot wasn't far enough up over the slot in the rim. Also I believe there is also a tool you can buy to grip the clamp ends.

@UGLYSTIKCOLIN Snap ring pliers are made for those. In a pinch you could use a small metal pick and a flat screw driver.
