  • Far out!

  • "Whenever the early Christians entered a town, the people in power became disturbed and immediately sought to convict the Christians for being "disturbers of the peace" and "outside agitators."' - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from a Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963. Mingus Lives!

  • Wow, Mingus looks so young & vital there; I saw him at Scott's in 70, & he'd aged enormously by then.

  • Fuck me, that sounded sweet as you like.

  • 2:42 ... D:

  • fuuuuuuuuuuck that bass clarinet is soooo goooooooood

  • Love Dolphy's goatee!

  • i have listen to these fellas ...effin jam ~

  • great piece. 10x.

  • 5.30 - The great wrath of the Mingus solo nod!

  • @milkhousen Yeah, that nod was awesome. A cool non-verbal but very clear statement of "go ahead man, do your thang; it 's your turn now."

  • Pure Master's of Beauty at Work / Play ..Mingus, was a Great Leader -"Dolphy was a Supreme Being".....

  • @Omnicron777 On one of his live albums, it was titled "Meditation on a Pair of Wirecutters" .

  • When I was just becoming a teenager, I discovered this music, and it has been my greatest influence ( believe it or not). Maybe that's why I don't listen much to rock....if you could actually say that I "loved" a musician, it was Mingus. I cried when he died.

  • @schnefsky Hey schnefsky! Mingus, Dolphy and Richmond, certainly the 2nd best musical trio the world has ever seen. I didn't cry when he died, but some the accordian music I've had to watch lately does bring tears to my eyes

  • Thats abstract

  • 8:17 Dolphy thinking "This jive motherfucker."

  • @TyedSoul He's cooler than miles

  • hahaha danny richmond smokin a fat one back there drummers never change ^^

  • Sometimes music is greater than life.

  • now that's music

  • That drummer is one ugly son of a bi*** but he sure doesn't drum like it.

  • Thanks for posting this great quality video of my / our Jazz heroes

  • AMAZING video!... Mingus the Man! & Master Dolphy! ... this goin stuff !!!!!

  • total destruction. humans can really do some crazy shit!

  • OH PLEASE MORE VIDEOS OF THIS SESSION!!

  • mingus and dolphy are one of the best duo's ever

  • Very much still waiting for the rest of this!!!

  • Unreal...wish I was there

  • every note a gem

  • Playing with Dolphy must have been a terrifying experience. . . What an absolutely fearless soloist. His reckless abandon while improvising is absolutely frightening.

  • 5:31 mingus regulating

  • ridiculous

  • I've always loved this track too bad the video's so poorly edited.

  • Hi fellow Dolphy fans, join me for a fantastic Eric Dolphy master class free anytime! Type in "Dave Frank" Dolphy on Ustream website.

Big fun, entertaining , and very educational:) Eric lives!

  • Johnny Coles collapsed on stage the night of the date THE GREAT CONCERT OF CHARLES MINGUS was recorded and had to have surgery. The concert went on without him.

  • Dolphy!

  • AAAAH,greatest,

  • I wish I could get paid for doing stuff like this. Not that I can play like these guys, but that would just be sweet.

  • they made such things as practice a thousand time before . nature and stable . wish i were there .

  • Oh my god!! Does music get any higher than this? I don't think so.

  • Superb

  • Thank you for the posting. Will you post the missing ending?

  • @ChristinaMetal Shortly be uploading the missing part

  • I thought Johnny Coles was on that tour as well........?

  • @Zappatero Yes, Johnny Coles was on that tour in 1964.

  • @JATLOZ Trumpet?

  • @Zappatero Johnny had to be hospitalized for a perforated ulcer -= had to leave mid-show and missed some datesfrom this [European] tour. Eric and Clifford had to adjust some of their parts - everything had been arranged for 3 horns. That makes this all the more amazing. There was a 3 record set called "The Great Concert Of Charles Mingus" with this band [from this tour] - some tracks had Johnny Coles, others didn't

  • I love the way Mingus uses arm signals to control the tempo.

  • This is my favorite of Mingus' compositions...this goes on for another 10 or 15 minutes, any chance of getting that up here as well? Thanks so much for the upload nonetheless.

  • clifford jordan was awesome!

  • awesome band awesome music mingus is to good
