dude, dont be so arrogant, everyone needs lessons. ive never met a single good musician that isnt humble enough to say, "there's still more i could learn." youre not that good get over yourself and get some lessons. i was self-taught and i started taking lessons to get even better. No one knows everything from learning on their own, trained people know more, its a fact. and put your collar down
I agree to an extent. Playing music is an expression of self. Unless he is trying to become a professional musician he does not need lessons. So long as a great teacher can be found, lessons will serve to help him. However that is a decision that should be made by him. If he is happy with what he has now then who are we to say it is not enough. If he finds a bad teacher, it would be a waste of time and money anyways.

@Piemaster123100 this is not strictly true, in my experience lessons only confuse and disrupt my progress, I have only ever improved without lessons. The only time piano lessons help in my opinion is if you manage to somehow get a top pro pianist teacher, not your bog standard upright tutor I mean.

I like to see the once who are really so into teaching others about how to play, that they forget to play outside the rules, when you play at your level, you choose your accurate tempo yourself, and how you feel is the best tempo, and if someone critics your tempo, they have to learn how to play piano before commenting about stuff they don't know about. I'm sorry but your rendition to this song lack accurate tempo and color. "Cadences" were missing and your fingers coordination are poor. I'm not saying you're not a good pianist; I'm saying that you need to practice your songs a bit more. However, your piano runs as well as the arpeggios are perfect.
@MultiPianoteacher this song is not based on the original version by Coldplay, but the Classic FM Songs Without Words version from the album. How can you have accurate tempo and colour, its called a performance, not suppoed to be the same, because I AM performing it, thus I am bound to make it different. Finger coordination poor!!!, cadences are missing - please dont try to act like your a level higher than the average listener, because you most certainly are not, ok.

It's not really classical, new age piano is the more technically correct genre name. Coldplay would sound strange in the style of Mozart or Haydn.

no, joke aside. doing it directly by ear is more serious, I think.
it takes way more time, but it pays.
and beeing able to play it IMMEDIATELY from sheets, implies that you can play it in some degree by ear as well.

@UKpiano i am sorry but i have to say, professional or not(multipianoteacher) this is beautiful, your right its not perfect, but its that that makes it work, you should really just learn to listen instead of always looking for what someone is doing wrong, if your a real teacher you will enjoy the art that is the music.

Please don't stop playing..... I would kill for your talent.. I try to play and I can but this performance is on a level I could never dream of reaching.. It would be such a waste.
