The last few seconds of this at 10:47 are amazing! I am a big fan of Carol Channing but have never heard her sing that low before. It sounds like she is possessed! Love it!
Does anyone remember the short lived tv series called making it. A spin off of saturday Night Fever. Or the tv show with the three brothers , onee was gay. Really good shows.
Though I have seen lots of different TV series on DVD in stores, I have never seen Makin' It. You can probably go to Best Buy or FYE if you have one in your area, and order it.
Thank you ever so much for posting "The Love Boat" episodes. I loved the show on Saturday nights until they canceled it. Ann Miller, Della Reese, Carol Channing, and Ethel Merman are timeless and impeccable.
LOVE this episode!!! Too bad TVLAND cut out the best parts when they aired it. There is more to Ann's number "It's Alright With Me" with the waiters who enter with her when she comes into the dinning room. One of my first exposure to the world of Musicals. BTW can you upload the opening number "Let's Put A Show On Right Here"? It's one of the few original songs written for this episode.
There is nothing that rivals this. I have been talking about it for years. Ann Miller's number is the biggest queerest thing EVAH! Della Reese, Well, I mean Carol Channing breaking out into the mop and sweep two step is just it, And top it off withEhtel Merman's "Kiss Today Goodbye"...I mean people, work with me. This is
I got to watch the whole episode (can't remember where right now) and he was in the whole thing. He was romancing Della Reese's character in this ep. "- )
Why do people think that you're gay if you enjoy "The Love Boat"? It was a vehicle for many stars at the time. Old, otherwise washed-up stars got another chance at fame by appearing on this show. A lot of big Hollywood stars appeared on this show.
Is your show beginning to decline ratings-wise? Get on the boat! Are you a washed-up star wanting another chance at fame? Get on the boat! Are you a nobody who wants a shot at fame? Get on the boat!
This was clean cut entertainment. Today's tv shows consist of reality shows. Violence, profanity and sex. I wish we had the same innoents that was on tv back then.
So after college I went to work aboard a cruise ship as an assistant cruise director. The number of people who called me Julie was shocking, given that the Love Boat was off the air by the time I was born! Frankly, I wish it was on Nick at Night so I could see it!
I think it's safe to say this is the episode that lost many male "straight" viewers. After this episode, The Love Boat could have been headed for Broadway for all I care. LOL
What was classic about television in the 70's and 80's was that stars of the past had a place to go and do what they did best versus today where stars of the past go on celebrity reality tv shows to lose wieght or enter rehab and be disgraced instead of revered...Imagine Ethel, Ann, and Della on Celebrity Fit Club...a shame
LOUSY?? What planet are you on?? Better yet, what are you "on" period?? Like to see you or any of these so called dancers of today do these steps. With the exception of Savion Glover there are no more dancers. It's just synchronized pole dancing.
For pete's sake, we get it! And no, this is not for gay people. This was enjoyed by a wide demographic of people. Sure, it was never #1, but it lasted 9 years.
Thae LADIES were magnificent! The STYLE! The STAMINA! The UNIQUNESS! Where'd talents like these go?! What happened?! Oh, yeah...NM. My gteneration has some GINOURMOUS shoes to fill! I hope that we're up to the challenge!!!
Great! LOVE Ann Miller, Carol Channing, & Ethel Merman. Della Reese, OK. But Ethel Merman's rendition of "What I Did For Love" kinda scared me. Also why do the waiters just stand there behind Ann Miller? At the end, they learn how to dance. That's dumb! I still love it!
What's the name of the song that Carol sings?

What an odd and wonderful time!!!

Wow. It took Isaac just one song and dance number to blow that stereotype to pieces. He can't sing or dance.

To put it into context.
Our shows had originality, The stars were revered for their funny characteristics.
The # 1. Thank God in my house we did not have to watch Lawrence Fucking Welk.
And Yeah this so Gay.
Alot of gay shit was going on and we had no idea.
I' hope they all come out of the closet, I wanna know who they are.
They had alot of differnt plots and sub plots going on here.

I remember Makin' It. I burned the song onto CD. David Naughten not only stared in the show, he wrote and sang the theme song.

How can I get a copy of that show or is it not available?
