  • What is really sad about the REAL ID ACT is that all the documents you are provinding are kept at the Dept of Homeland Security Database... imagine that! US citizens have come under the jurisdiction of the DHS --- basically on the par with aliens... wake up America...

  • I went to court today Sept. 19th 2011, after being arrested on Oct 30th, 2011 on charges of driving while license suspended and expired tag.i made a special appearance and refused to cross the bar until i was guaranteed my rights were reserved and waiver of none. the question was never answered and i was forced to cross the bar and stand at the podium for which i pleaded not guilty. next court date is Oct 11. 2011. after seeing this video, i will be surrendering my license and all signatures.

  • UPDATE #3: In my first court appearance where I argued that the REAL ID requirements in issuing Florida drivers licenses were unconstitutional, the State was unprepared to counter my argument. The judge said, "This is huge. This is a big deal." and said the state needed time to review their case. The judge rescheduled the trial to a later date, and advised me to provide evidentiary discovery to the prosecutor. I'm not sure that that's legal, and actually seems to be a 5th amendment issue.

  • UPDATE #2: My first court appearance will be Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at 5:30pm. The location is the Pinellas Co. Criminal Justice Center, 14250 49th Street North, Courtroom 19, Clearwater, FL 33762. It's open to the public and everyone is welcome.

  • UPDATE: Adrian Wyllie here. On July 15th, I called on the Pinellas County Sheriff to "man up" and pull me over on my radio talk show Liberty Underground. Four hours later, I was stopped and ticketed by deputies that knew my name before I identified myself. Search YouTube for "Wyllie cited for no drivers license in fight against Real ID after telling sheriff to man up" to see the video of me getting pulled over.

  • Well apparently they cannot bust him under the Constitution because he has that inherent right which over rules the state law??? So we can all do it now.

  • i got rid of mine sometime ago, the trick is that the cops will keep pulling you over making it unconvenient and so hard to get anywhere on time, but the more people that do it the more common to the cops it is and less likely we all get stopped so frequently.

  • All you have to do to get pulled over is flip off the cop. That always works for me.

  • hawaii has been federal mandated to get the real ID by 2014 in order to board a plane or enter a federal building. I mean they live on an island, of course people will want to fly. The line was crossed a long time ago.

  • I hope this inspires more people to action like this. Too many regulations now. In a few more years, if this keeps it up. Now is going to be known as the good of days of driving. Look at going through the airports now, compared to a few years ago.

  • The fact is, driving is NOT a RIGHT. Driving is a PRIVILEGE, granted by the State; one that can be suspended or revoked, which a RIGHT cannot. If you want this privilege granted, you follow the rules set forth by the State. If you don't like those rules, then don't get a license. You have the RIGHT not to drive.

    If you want a State issued non-driver ID, then again, follow the rules. If you don't like the rules, then get the State to issue non-REAL ID compliant ID cards; they have the option.

  • And before you start arguing that driving is a right, go read the Bill of Rights. If the Founding Fathers thought driving should be a right, they could've included it, but they didn't. Nothing about riding a horse, driving a buggy or cart...none of it.

  • @jonm095 - Do you have the right to eat? Do you have the right to breath? Do you have the right to procreate? The Constitution doesn't mention those either, but I'm pretty sure that our Founding Fathers didn't intend for government to restrict them. Travel falls under life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

    Also, even though you have the header to the US Constitution tattooed on your arm, Jonm also thinks you should go read the Bill of Rights. Because only people who don't know what the BoR is would so something like that. Libertarians.

  • @jonm095 The Bill of Rights doesn't grant rights, it enumerates [some of] them. Rights are "self-evident" and "endowed by their creator" (while we're citing the founding documents). Driving isn't a privilege either. People have the right to travel. To say otherwise is to suggest that you have a right to confine someone to a particular geographical area. You don't. What hubris.

    Follow the rules, even if they're unjust, right? Would you consider yourself a bootlicking serf, Jonm?

  • There have been more and more requirements for permits and licensing. Indiana just passed a law requiring police to enter a home without a warrant. They now have the tecn.to put tracking chips in animals. It is as if you can't make a decision to do anything without permission from a higher authority and I don't mean God. I applaud the courage of this man to stand up. How many of you would do this? We would not need all this nonsense if morality was taught at home and in school. Say no to tyranny

  • Clearing up some misunderstandings- In FL, you don't need a license to renew your tag. The decision as to your car insurance is up the the company, and is usually based on your driving record.

    Showing identity documents is one thing, most of us would or have done so at the DMV. What is going on here is that the state is SEIZING these documents in order to make an electronic copy that goes into a web database. Read the 4th Amendment & see if they can do so w/o consent or a warrant.

  • You can't get car insurance in FL if you don't have a dr lic. And you can't renew your tag either without insurance and dr lic. So?? where is this going?

  • The only screw up he made was using the word "drive" as in the legal dictionaries that's operating a vehicle for commercial purposes, which doesn't fall under your right to travel freely. Had he used the word 'travel' instead of 'drive' he'd have a cement clad case. :((

  • If your vehicle is not registered with the state than you are not violating any statute as far as I understand it. It is a catch 22. You need a state licence to operate a state registered vehicle.

  • Some Dr's offices could, and should, and I WOULD refuse to accept just an insurance id card without proof that it is you. This is a common fraud concern.

    BOO HOO, its so hard to show your BC,SS card, and two address verifiers in order to get a state issued drivers license.

    If you dont have them, just forge them like Obama did.

    This is more than "showing" your documents. They are being seized w/o a warrant and placed into a web-accessible database. Databases are subject to compromise by corruption (employees) or hacking. No sense in hacking 3 or 4 when you can find everything you need in one. This law has captured ZERO aliens and terrorists, and has cost us over $10 million in FL since 2008. As you pointed out, papers can be forged, a murder suspect did so in the Tampa area last year.

  • I would refuse to serve this man at a bar, refuse to sell him liquor or beer, refuse to sell him cigarettes. This will cause a much longer delay if questioned by the police as to his identity as well. Additionally, YOU ARE REQUIRED to have a DL to be in good standing with your auto INSURANCE carrier, they can DENY claims or cancel your policy because of this. This SHOULD cause a problem when trying to RENEW INSURANCE

  • @billmandell1 Yes indeed. The point is that it should be his right to not have an ID, and indeed his right to have problems because of not having a valid ID. They are his problems, not mine or yours. Why should we have the right to tell a fully grown man how to live his life? If the police want to talk to him it should be cause he is suspected of doing something wrong. If a person has done something wrong, what does their identity really matter?

    Identity when enforcing the law (when there is cause to do so, as opposed to forcing all to prove something when they've done nothing wrong) is a requirement of a lawful society. If people are misidentified when charged, warrants or tickets can be issued for the wrong person, which creates problems for the true person. This is why fingerprint evidence is usually the identifier in criminal cases and drivers are identified for tickets (except camera tickets).

  • @billmandell1 If someone does something wrong, they should be punished no matter what their name is or where they live. I can understand wanting to keep track of former criminals though. In that case, we can make criminals carry ID's during their probation period. When the probation period is over, their criminal ID can be stored in their criminal record with photos, fingerprints, and DNA if need be.

  • Come 2014 this genius will not be able to Board an Aircraft OR enter ANY FEDERAL BUILDING. Furthermore, if and when he does get stopped, he WILL be arrested for NO DRIVERS LICENSE, plus whatever else the police stopped him for and whatever else the police find. Im not sure, but HOPEFULLY he will not be able to renew his registration either, meaning that shortly he will be driving an UN REGISTERED motor vehicle, WITHOUT a drivers license.

  • Thanks for doing this Adrian. We need to get as much publicity for this issue as we can. According to the DMV, REAL ID has cost over $10 million in Florida alone since 2008. I has caught zero aliens and terrorists due to REAL ID. It has violated the rights of 5 million citizens. It must go away on both state & federal levels. Google Floridians Against REAL ID.
