  • CHIs or Closed Head Injuries can often have no immediate symptoms, but after an hour you could suddenly die. Yup, never think its just a headache. That is why EMTs plead with people to get checked out just in case - because until you see an MRI/CT scan you really just don't know.

  • I feel bad for the girl who accedently hit her, well although it didn't look like an acceddent by actresses acting it out again.

  • that was prolly the stupidest spftball mistake id ever seen

  • it was the idiot girls fault who hit her in the head! she was freakin 2 feet away and hits her in the head!

  • HEY! I remeber this episode the girl was lucky

  • For those that question wether it was an accident or not due to the fact it appears she was aiming for the head, purposefully..

Please note it is a reenacment, it may not have happened exactly that way.

  • I thought you weren't supposed to hold someone down if they're having a seizure. I thought you were supposed to move things out of the way in case they hit them during the seizure, and not to hold them down in case you hurt them even more?

  • They had to make sure the ball hit her head so that's why the girl aimed for her head..

In the real incident the ball probably hit her when no one else could have predicted it would happen. Freak accidnt.

  • I think she purposely aimed for her head so she wouldn't miss...

In the actual incident, she probably never aimed for her head.

But for the re-enactment, they had to make sure her head got hit by the softball like it did in the real incident....

Plus- it very well could have been a Nerf softball-

  • At 1:03 we see the girl pick up the ball which could have been a real softball..then it cuts to Nicki talking.

The few seconds between her picking up the softball and her throwing the softball when the cam shows Nicki talking, she could have gotten handed a white nerf softball to be thrown.

The girl probably would have not been directed to throw a real softball to Nikki's head for the re-enactment...that would have her in the hospital all over again.

  • I think in the actual situation-not the re-enactment, the ball was not aimed at her head but was thown in her direction and accidently hit her head when no one could have known the ball could hit her.

During the re-enactment shown, I am guessing they could not miss the ball hitting her head, so they had to throw the ball straight at her head.

Had they missed the throw to her head, there would be another take or 2 to get the ball thown right. So they had to throw the ball right.

  • I wouldn't want to be that girl who hit her in the head.

  • This segment shows how lucky this girl was. People play down head injuries of all kids & too often people die. You may SEEM fine for a while but after that crucial time passes, your chances go down.

Take Natasha Richardson for example. She refused help feeling what she thought was a "simple headache" & a beautiful life is gone. I partly blame the resort, they should have demanded she atleast get a check up & she might be here today.

  • You no you can never force a patient to consent to medical care unless they go unconscious. Sometimes it's the most frustrating thing in the world.

  • i atcually started to cry once she started having the siecure. I don't know why...lol

  • shits scary eh:P?

  • damn she looked like she was aiming right for her head

  • I think you're right. It did look deliberate.

  • Your not suppose to hold the person down

  • thats what I was thinking

  • it looks like the girl hit her on purpose omg! it was going straight at her, r u sure it was an accident?!?!

  • That was my first thought as well- that it was purposefully done.

  • kaylee and other people talking about the throw and if it was a accident. God people this is all ACTED OUT this time around. It wasn't actual footage.. sigh...come on people THINK.

  • Ok really, we aren't getting this slow are we people it was a reenactment....lol what u saw isn't how it really looked when it really happened.. sigh... reading some posts just make you wonder if people think before they type.

  • these arent the actual incidents in the videos. they are reinactments so of course it does.

  • 1:06! Honastly if I didn't know this was a reinacment I wouldn't be on the floor right now laughing my ass off.

  • lol it was funny when i watched it the second time

  • Hello!Very good story!=)The girl be better after it happened.I was neared to cry when I saw the video=(

But they rescued her life and her head was OK after discater.=)

    Thank God for it!=)

Give 5 star for the good story and it was my favorit episode of best of all rescue 911 episodes!=)

    Greeting TheCARRE74=)

  • it just ticks me off that people don't realize this is a reenactment. Okay, I don't get that ticked off but that's like believing an actor really died in a movie. (if you were that clueless). I'm not calling anyone dumb here but c'mon, stop jumping into any conclusions right away before you say something.

  • the girl who threw the ball it looked like she puposely threw it at her face

  • honestly, bad reenactment

  • its a crime to wear glasses that big these days

  • that how things were in the early 90s

  • How would you feel if somebody made fun of you I wear glasses. Is that a crime for me? I don't appriciate that

  • Why aren't they wearing helmets? If they wore helmets, they would've avoided some type of head trauma.

  • this is one of my fav episodes

  • I think she rushed her throw. I don't think she saw her right when she passed her and her mind was on the ball. I think she didn't intentionally did it on purpose, your mind can be focus on one thing that something else happens that you just don't think about it until it happens

  • that girl threw the ball in her head but I do not get it did she did that on purpose or in acident

  • I think it was by acident

  • If it was actors then obviously the girl aimed to her head to act. But the real thing was probs an accident

  • The 1st commenter besides me gets it!!

  • man that girl did it on purpose it was not an accident

  • yah wtf

  • that was no accident she aim for the girl, why else would she have thrown it when they were not even looking?!!

  • Reenactment...poorly made

  • I thought you weren't suppose to restrain a person when they have a seizure?

  • nope you restrain them so they do not hurt themselves if they thrash around

  • I thought that would apply if the person if having a seizure somewhere where they could get hurt unrestrained, like in the walkway inside a schoolbus.

  • They could hurt themselves...

  • when the first ball rolled by them they should have moved and not been in the way where the balls were being thrown

  • i sound like a jerk too, but its funny that you cant spell seizure.

  • That was great.. I personally loved it when the girl intentionally hit her in the head with the ball. That was no accident\, that was so on purpose.

  • man that girl was tottly looking at that girl in the glasses then throw the soft ball thus makeing her freak

  • Yeh im sure when it actually happened she wasn't aiming at her head!!!

    reinactment duh

  • what kind of teenager wears matching pink polka dotted shorts and tank top

  • A teenager in the late 80s early 90s.

  • that girl who threw the baseball looked like she was aiming for her or something it was a terrible throw...

  • this is so freaking weird

  • LMAO...

  • you people do realize that this was a reenactment and that it might have actually looked a little different in real life...oh and cinderella is not real.....and E.T. didn't actually exist....

  • yea really and the girl didn't even come forward to take responsibility

  • omg you do not hold onto a person while they're having a seizure. one of them had to have known that. sorry but that just concerns me

  • 30 feet away dang

  • thats what happens when u teach a gırl to throw.

  • I remember this one. This is one of my favorite episodes!!

  • 1:04 That was so deliberate... She´s like: Take it bitch !

  • LMAO!!!!!

  • that girl didnt look like she did it on accident.

here is my theory: 1 of the girls: "hey, lets hurt that girl over there!"

the girl who threw the ball (girl 2): ok, lets make it look like an accident"

    *goes to pick up ball*

girl 2: "hey bitch, THINK FAST!"

    wham!

  • Man, this aired the day I was born!! LOL!!

  • what's the soft in softball for???

  • just means its softer then a baseball..there both hard tho lol

  • what a hit in the head like her skull bone cracks

  • kirk you need to take her to sick bay on the uss enterprise ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

just joaking ths girl that thrw the ball need to whach where

shes trow'ing and siezures freak me out

  • These reenactments are hysterical!

  • thats not a softball, its a baseball. did you see the girl who got hit,it took her a minute to relize she had been hit

  • That nurse is an idiot. Firstly light will not dilate pupils, but make them constrict. Secondly a kid having a seizure directly after being struck in the head is NOT normal. Epileptic or not, you should err on the side of caution and assume it is a direct result of the blow. I hope I never find myself under her care.

  • I'm a Paramedic.

Pupils will fail to dilate if someone has brain damage. That's one of the ways we can tell brain trauma is evident. A common sign of brain damage is one pupil fixed and dilated while the other remains pinpoint.

You're right about pupils constricting when you shine light on them. The nurse probably said 'dilate' but meant 'react to light.' Another sign of brain trauma is pupils that don't react when you shine light on them.

  • I too am a Paramedic. I agree that pupillary response can be altered in the presence of a head injury, especially in late stages where extremely increased intracranial pressure can cause the brain to herniate through the base of the skull. What I was commenting on was this nurse's apparent idiotic ability to casually brush off this child's seizure as being merely epilepsy. Also, she failed to recognize the child's abnormal behaviour post-trauma. Should have called EMS.

  • Im going to college for a paramedic =D

  • yeah your right, we had to learn about the nervous system and if there is no reaction to light their is possible brain damge especially when the temple are hit., great example is phineas gage for eplespy and derek bently..

  • at my daughter's softball game a few years ago, a kid walked into a practicing player's swing zone (he was up to bat next and was taking practice swings.) the kid took a full force back swing to the face. blood flew and it was horrible. luckily, the ball park in maytown pa is directly between the ambulance station and the fire company so they got him off to the hospital fast. kids need to learn to pay better attention!

  • i had neighbors who ended up on this show

  • What happened to your neighbors?

  • My neighbor wendy spencer, her husband and two boys were hiking in the mountains in Idaho and her husband slipped and fell down a mountain for a long time and they thought he was dead but he thankfully survived but i had remember they ended up on this show and it would be awsome if you had it! but i dont remember the title of the episode.

  • Are you sure this was Rescue 911 and not another show? I've seen almost every episode, and I know what happens in the ones I haven't seen, and I've never heard of that one.

  • terer bad the box team

  • it's captain kirk

  • Is that a nerf ball she got hit with with a sound effect used to indicate the sound of the ball hitting her?

  • Probably.

  • since when was there yellow ambulances that look like vans????

  • I've seen this many times on this program and on Cops. They're painted that shade of yellow for visibility.

  • How could you not see the girl standing there? omg, what a loser.

  • i think that girl threw the ball on purpose

  • they did, it was a reanactmint. all they did was use sound effects they reenact it cause there was noooo way cameras were there at the real scene duuuhhhh!!!!!!!

  • ive been playing softball for 9 years, & this still scares me=X

  • how old is she

  • it kind of looked like she threw it on purpose

  • yes, mostly because this is just a re-enactment (not sure if i spelled that right). but its not the real video, and it does look like she did it on purpose.

  • I just had a Nurse say that she as a Nurse is more important to health care than I as a Paramedic am.

In the segment I noticed that the Nurse called a Paramedic when she needed one.

Maybe the woman who had so much "wisdom" to give me tonight should watch this 911 episode.

  • a mental retard kid can throw better then that

  • this happend to a kid they where practicing there catching on 1 base. when he looked the ball smaked him in the head the baseball saved his his life cause if it wasnt for the baseball heading his head he would of died cause he needed a new kiddnee so they would of never know if the ball did not hit his head.

  • I think they showed that on an episode of Impact: Stories of Survival.

  • she throw it right at her head it was perpas or some bad acting

  • it almoest lookd lik it waz daliberat

  • you cant really get a worse throw than that.

  • i got hit in the head by a softball daja vu i got a concussion

  • It looked and sounded so funny when the ball hit her head LOL!

  • I saw Allegheny General on Trauma Life in the E.R. on discovery channel.

  • thats wher i saw it his name was preston

  • when i was younger i got hit in the head by a hard base ball and i was lucky

  • She was in good hands. Allegheny General is easily the best hospital in all of Pennsylvania.

  • real bad concerned?

    does that even make sense

  • Lots of mistakes made here. Those kids should have been out further in the field when throwing warmups, the girl that got hit should have been on the bench away from the others, and when she was hit, they should have started to get her to the hospital asap. Softballs are just as hard as baseballs. I know cause Iam a Little League baseball umpire and I've been hit by a softball on a foul tip.

  • i got hit in the head with a softball it hurt it was in the middle of my forehead it wasnt that bad just a black and blue and a slight bump

  • wow was that throw 2 her head on purpose??? but im glad it turned out ok 4 the girl!

  • Green popsicles are yummy!

  • OUCH! it sounded like her skull cracked when the ball hit her

  • Dannylynn123 most helicopters are only made for the stretcher and the crew i no how stupid it is. when i had my anaflaxatic shock they wouldnt let my mum in.

  • why is there never any room on the helicopter for the parent(s)? if that was my kid and they were like we are sorry mam there is no room i would have been like then damn well make room

  • Wow that was a straight shot to her head!! I'm glad she's ok.

  • Too bad they cut out the best part :(

  • Are you sure? I saw this segment when it was originally run and, watching this, I don't remember any part being cut out. Which part are you talking about?

  • I don't think anything was cut. This version of the segment was recorded from CBS (although it was a repeat that aired in 1995, the original aired in 1993).

  • That's what I thought. Pelsock is probably thinking about another similar segment, with someone getting hit in the head or with a blonde-haired girl that weaers glasses. No idea which one it would be, though, as it's been years since I watched Rescue 911.

  • i wonder what happened to this girl and other kids from rescue 911, now that it is 15 years later?

  • I was on a softball team as well and I must say I had horrible aim. I just dont understand how a hit in a head could almost kill that girl.

  • well apparently softballs aren't really um soft.and she got hit so hard that it knocked her out cold and gave her brain mixed signals ans she had a seizer

  • well, if it hits her at a certain point it could affect her brain.

  • ya, it hit her temple. really bad place to get hit. the temple is really sensitive and that is what causes this to happen. hit on both sides and she'd have been dead

  • What kind of accident is that? Accident my ass.

  • do they show this how anymore???

  • I wish. This is one of my favorite shows of all time.

  • me two i love it alot i am sad that it is gone ='(

  • DISCOVERY HEALTH RULES!

  • This was so weird. It looked like she aimed right for her. What kind of throw was that for someone who is supposed to KNOW how to play ball since they're on a team!

  • well She propbably thought it would go over his head and this is a reanactment so it probably did not look exactly like that

  • thats why i almost dunk when a ball ccomes by me lol

  • She was a teen?! She looks nine

  • way she look 9 but maybe she was borin relly little

  • jeepers! tht was deleberate

  • That kid should get in trouble for throwing that ball. Its obvious that it was no accident. She had every intention of hitting that little girl in the head.

  • what a weird softball name (THE BOX) lol. thoughts softball are flippen hard. i would of call 911when it happened.

  • gas gas to call 911

  • omg! that is fucking hillarious

  • The girl throwing the ball just couldn't make it look accidental, could she?

  • freakin girl

  • The person that hitting her in the head couldn't made it look anymore intentional.

  • ya.shes a cute kid.

  • what i meant to say:

it would be the worst to be the girl who threw the ball

  • HA HA, 1:46, "we wasn't real bad concerend" great english skills.

  • its suppose to be a SOFTBALL! its not suppose to go BOOOOMMM AHHHH

  • kina like presadent bush. lol

  • Ha Ha yeah, just what i was thinking!

  • i think the worst would be the girl who threw the ball...

  • dat was a very bad throw!! WOW! she should've threw the ball when she gets to position!

  • this is very retarded, why the other girl threw the bar in her direction?

  • they just wanted to show that she clearly got hit wit the ball happens.cause i hope u know its tru but this isnt the real thing

  • yeah i know, what i mean to say is that the Reenactment is very bad, the way they show the accident in a way that it looks like it was intentional

  • yeah, but they couldn't do it any other way.

  • this is a sad and good story

  • If you get hit in the head by a ball reay hard you should always go to th ER immediatley. Because you never know what might happen, even if you think you are alright.

  • pause @ 1:05! look closely!

  • look at wat?

  • shes saying look at the time on the bottom till u get to 1:05 and u can see that she sorta hit her on pourpis!

  • Pourpis=purpose

  • omg that hell of a bastard did it on pourpis!!!!!

  • HarryGobbleCock writes "I lost it at 1:05. hahahahaha." There is nothing funny about this. You wouldn't be laughing if it happened to you. This is why I never liked conventional sports. They're dangerous, and I don't even see what is fun about throwing a ball around. Of course the guys made fun of me in PE class, and the teacher wasn't much better. But it is not enjoyable to me to play football, baseball, soccer, basketball, or tennis. Bowling is ok, but the rest are silly to me.

  • shes a cute girl.. thank god she made it

  • im glad she ok

  • that made tears come to my eyes :( glad she was ok in the end

  • even i admit at 1:06,it scared the s**t out of me!

  • I lost it at 1:05. hahahahaha

  • Dude, shut up, that's not even funny,

How would you feel if that happened to you?

  • Embarrassed that they made a reenactment so stupid/hilarious.

  • He had to break her jaw? Yikes.

  • Nor break, displace...

  • That girl that hit the ball on her head should be kicked out of the team.

  • That's hurts. That girl was lucky to live through the ordeal. I got hit in the head by a hockey puck in the stands during an NHL game. I was lucky it was a ricochetted puck. I had to have stitches for my head though.

  • this was aired 24 days before i was born!!!

  • the 2nd lady had really bad grammar.
