  • brilliant to see my great grandfather was Chairman of west ham FC from 1909 - 1935

  • amazing

  • This would have been equivalent to the Live 8 Concert in 2005 in sheer crowd scale. Incredible.

  • That's a great film. I think that many football fans in one place and behaving well just couldn't happen these days.

  • @boydegg I think thats more a reflection on society than football though. We definately don't have the same respect for society and eachother as people did then. Today everybody would be going straight to a solicitor to try and sue for mental trauma.

  • Sadly, this is true. He was my dad and loved his day out at Wembley. He died peacefully with his daughter holding his hand. A question for VirtusNS. How did you know? Was it the obituary in the telegraph and you recognised the name? Best wishes.

  • I suspect the 'VirtusNS' indicates an Old boy of the school (Virtus non Stemma being our old school motto), so via the OG network.

  • Sadly, Dennis Higham died on October 29th, 2009, aged 95.

  • I LOVE this film. Hard to imagine 200,000+ fans crammed into the old stadium - great to finally see some images & hear from someone who was actually there. And it sounds like the Wembley Spirit was strong from the start, lifting this boy to the front of the crowd. WEM-BER-LEY!

  • good upload must have been mental being in that crowd
