  • wow technical stuff,i bet bill gates is craping himself

  • Thanks a lot buddy!! Mine's Hp dv6 series and had the same problem. Didn't try your method though. But it was fixed when i tapped the center of the touchpad twice; as you said in the description. Cheers:)

  • I have a Dell, also!!!

My touchpad isnt working. I dont know how to ENABLE it!!!

I have to plug in a mouse.

PLEASE HELP ME TURN BACK ON MY TOUCHPAD!!!!!!!!

    Anybody!!??? O.o

  • I love Dell never had problem with that brand. Favorite is Dell, Acer, Asus, Sony a bit expensive but, well built.

  • I have an Acer laptop and it;s like 3 years old, the left click button does not work at all after this amount of time so I tried this and it didn't work but if you right click the icon on the bottom right corner and press tap to click it works fine. If your touchpad doesn't work at all you can press Fn and F7 and it will probably work, if not press Fn and F9. If you try all of these solutions it's bound to work.

  • Sorry dude i feel your pain my Lenovo G560 laptop have also trackpad issue. The trackpad driver work 90 percent though but, the 10 percent it won't work somedays.

  • Dell has been declining rapidly fast the past few years, their quality is horrible and the customer service is even worse. I would not recommend buying any product from dell. Period.

  • lol my touch pad doesnt even come out in the bottom right side corner haha

  • I have a gaming laptop and when I use it to play games I have a button that disables the trackpad until I turn it on again.

After an hour (ish) gaming session I unplug my mouse and enable the trackpad again.

I put my finger down onto it and the mouse starts going everywhere really fast and clicking stuff and it always opens loads of programs and deletes shortcuts...

What should I do? If you don't know how to fix it do you know anywhere I could find an answer?

  • thank you so much for this video man!

  • i liked the part when he fingred hes computer.

  • @MarikChan Racist , But he does know his tech :)

  • could u tell me what to cause the part where u rub ur finger for the arrow to move ...the left click wont go...pleassse help!

  • Mine simply stops responding in certain areas sometimes. The Dell Touchpad application doesn't show any activity while this is happening. Tapping two times in the middle seems to fix it.

  • I already had this driver and all of the sudden scrolling stopped working! I tried to reinstall it to fix the problem but the problemjust came back! It comes up with the error message: Apoint.exe "Failed to load lanucher dll" Can anyone help please!!!!

  • When I type my courser jumps around. I can't find any settings to turn it off. I have a Dell XPS.

  • i have the same issue, it annoys the hell out of me, did you find a solution?

  • A program called TouchFreeze fixed it for me.

  • Even though I was really sure I wasn't brushing my touchpad when I was typing it was getting me so mad I was willing to try anything. I'm still kinda sure I'm not touching the pad, but Touchfreeze has solved whatever it was that was happening.

I couldn't go a word page doc before without some jumps, but now I've not had any since I installed it.

  • @kalcaron What you're probably doing is accidentally touching the touchpad with your arm. It responds to the slightest touch.

  • @pvcsnathan

Yeah it was that. I found a small program called Touchfreeze that freezes your touchpad when typing, and it fixed it.

I couldn't do it another way cos my mouse settings were overwritten a long time ago by my razor mouse. :/

It was crazy though, cos I could swear I wasn't touching it... but I guess I must have been.......

  • omg i love you it worked thnks :D

  • i have the same xps and i have the same problem with it

  • My dell studio gets "stuck" in the corner some times.

  • i have one of them i have to say it is the shittist laptop ever

  • Hi! What about a tute for changing the GPU / graphics card for m1530 / adding thermal paste? Do you guys know a link here on youtube or elsewhere on how to do it step by step? Help this poor girl :((( THANKS!!!

  • i find that double tapping the area that it thinks your touching also works

    =)

  • can you replace a laptop mousepad

  • help where I can download the driver of a wireles card latitude D830 not work for me

  • why so serious?

  • oh thats how he got his scars! lolololl

  • shut up asshole find someone else to listen to your bullshit. Nobody cares. He's trying to help people with questions what is your problem?

    Get a life, Prick

  • I am Gay

  • my brother found that out 1st hand he has never been the same LOL

  • ty!

  • I had the same problem with the trackpad acting out of control on my 1530, this seemed to work work pretty well, thank you for positing.

  • I loaded Ubuntu and also had issues. It stops when the mouse is plugged in. I'm still researching but seems like Dell should fix this issue considering its pretty much ever damn one of the M1530. Also any luck with the Blu Ray? I'm pissed they used Blu Ray as a selling point only to find there is no software on the machine that will play my Blu Ray of Wall-E.

  • did you buy the blu-ray option because it doesn't come standard. check out their site

  • are you in a meth lab... just saying..

  • I have a solution.

    Buy a mouse lol.

  • I upgraded to BIOS Revision A09 and I don't have the issue anymore. But this was a huuuuuge let down, anyone who tried to use my computer thought i had to "unlock it for them.

If the slide to the opposite corner does not work for anyone, try to double tap on the spot that's highlighted in blue on the task bar. That's what worked for me.

  • updated bios, did the tapping thing, nothing is working my touchpad is still skipping around like crazy fucking annoying as hell

  • did you try sliding to the opposite corner? If you have the latest bios, it shouldn't have the problem anymore. You should probably call DELL.

  • Which BIOS version am I supposed to have with the m1330?

  • I beleive the latest version is A09. Go to the DELL website to download it.

  • hmmm i went to dell website and said latest version is A12, i downloaded and installed it, mouse is still skipin

  • cant see shit on ur screen dude

  • video doesnt make much sence.. but atleast it helped me pick between the colors

  • i got a dell inspiron 1520 and the touchpad is awesome!!! the laptop is only pentium dual core 1.6ghz 160gb hdd 5400rpm intel graphics vista home premium. 15.4 " screen mainstream laptop . im gettin a dell xps m1540 or hp laptop or alienware

  • In that little touch pad thing in the taskbar, blue means that its using a special function like the scroll wheel function, green means that your using the mouse function...

  • My M1330 touchpad just started skipping today... it's driving me insane (I found this while looking for some info on it). I guess it's good to know I'm not alone, but this sucks :(

  • The double tap on the pad fixed it for me! Thanks soooo much!

  • Same computer, never seen this problem...

  • the problem has been corrected by Dell with the new bios revision....

  • as silly as this comment is I have to say I was thinking the same... my second thought was 'i wonder if he's cute'.

  • and i bet u r an asshole

  • i just bought this computer, do you guys still have this problem after the update? also what other things have u disliked about the computer.

  • nope, problem has been corrected by the bios update from dell. few things i don't like is the speakers area get a lot of dust and hard to remove. also, the aluminum gets dirty FAST. simple wipe down with a damp sponge once a week does the trick though...

one other thing i don't like is that it HAS to have vista, but I'm gonna dual boot xp on it real soon...

  • sometimes when im typing my palm hits the touch pad and it screws up my typing lol, but other than tht its an awesome computer (took off vista)

  • how did you take vista off? i messed my pc up when i first got it trying to get it on there, did some stuff wrong. could you send me a message telling me how you did it? thanks

  • well if u want to re-install it you need to boot from the windows disk, if you want it off completely you need to get a differant OS completely and install that, Linux is pretty good, confusing, but good

  • Just use your XP boot disk and use the windows XP drivers from the M1730 off the dell site (they work fine on the M1530)

    It worked for me!

  • @airmcnair06 thanks it worked

  • anyhow i still prefer using a small mouse over the annoying touchpad :D

  • yea, me too. but i cant use a mouse in class on when it's sitting on my lap. haha.

  • I had this problem too! It was so annoying. I found out that if the touchpad thing says that you're touching the top right corner, I tape the bottom left and it starts working again. Basically, tap the opposite side of where it says it is.

  • well my touch pad problem is different =/

but xps m1330 is really awsome to me.. preetty and powerfull except fot the touch-pad and the tinny speakers

  • You're accent is really smooth. And you also helped fix my Dell XPS. Thanks.

  • accent? LOL What accent? Where are you from?

  • HAHA! You have a good point. I am from India/UK so your accent is bound to sound different to me. XD

  • it works!!!! YYaaayyy

  • Hey airmcnair06 - I bought mine within the last month, and it had the latest BIOS installed (A08 is it I believe), but it still does exactly what you describe. I'll try the fix you mentioned next time it happens, sounds like you've found a good solution though. Glad to know I wasn't the only one that noticed it too. :)

  • I havnt noticed this problem! hopefully it dosnt occur

  • The problem has been fixed by a new BIOS update. SO if you bought your laptop within the past month you should be good!

  • got it last week..thanks man!

  • The new bios DOES NOT fix the problem (thats v8)

  • OMG. Are you serious? Im jealous now lol

  • I GOT XPS!! M1530 TO1

  • I just got my new dell xps M1530. I would like to know if I will have trouble playing games with my Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83Ghz?

I have the 8600 vid. card, 3Gb RAM, and the 250 SATA 5400rpm hard drive.

  • Genius!

  • I've ordered a Dell XPS 1530 with following:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4 GHZ 3MB L2.

    Windows Vista Home Premium

    15,4" widescreen WXGA+ (1440 x 900) TFT-skjerm with TrueLife™

    4096 MB 667 MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2 x 2048]

    250 GB (5400 rpm) Sata-harddrive

    NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT med 256 MB

    6-cells battery

Is this good ? I will not play any games on it.

Only MSN, Movies, iTunes and Internet.

  • Thats VERY good. That's better than mine. I only have 2.2 ghz core 2 duo and 3 gigs ram and dont have any problems running the top games.

You can play games with that system, the top of the line games even.

    GOOD LUCK!

  • what about the video card?

  • Its the geforce 8600 256MB one. The one that comes stock on the dell website.

  • Bottom line, I want to see how well I'll be able to play Crysis lol. That game looks freaken cool!

  • I just ordered a car called a Maserati. Are they good? I just want to drive grandma to the grocery store with it. What a joker.

  • haha so funny !

  • Wow, that worked for me!. The touch pad problem was really annoying for me. Thanks for sharing the solution!!!

  • Dell released the A08 BIOS update that fixes this problem. Just download and install from their support website.

  • I was just about to post this! Great news, still! :)

  • cool. just grabbed it. Looks like theres no need for my video to save the day anymore :(. lol

  • i have the same problem on my m1530.

I run a dual boot Vista-Ubuntu, and the problem occurs on both operating systems.

  • did this solution fix the problem or no?

  • Amazing, thanks man. I'm glad I checked this video out before my m1530 arrived - when it came it had the same problem and this fixes it perfectly. :) Out of interest, has anyone been able to upgrade the graphics card? I'm regretting getting the 8400 when everything else is maxed out! Cheers guys.

  • Glad it worked for you. I dont know about upgrading video cards. I'm sure you can, of course it will cost you. If it is within 21 days, return it for a refund and just rebuild the system. Otherwise, it might be a big hassle. Like I said, not really sure, just give Dell a call and tell them you want the 8600.

  • sorry...dell cannot upgrade ur graphic card..

  • can this laptop play bf2 on full settings?

  • YES

  • tanx mate. I just ordered the XPS 1530 so if i have this problem, i have also a possible solution. I hope my laptop will work just fine without any of the problems.

  • I don't trust Crysis. People with SLI can't even run the game that nicely and they spent a small fortune, gutted.

  • sweet works on my xps 1530 too,

  • Hey, how is gaming on this laptop. I am really looking forward to getting this! Please give me specifics.

  • Actually, I haven't played any cpu or graphic intensive games on it yet. I have seen vids of the higher end games being played just fine. It can run any game on pc out right now I believe.

  • @kmann1994: it depends on which card u get. i have the 8600m GT 256mb on a XPS1530 and it runs games great. i can run Battlefield 2142 all maxed out at 1280 x 800 (thats the native resolution i ordered for my laptop). Crysis run pretty good on medium settings, i get about 20-25fps, definately playable. definately a good laptop for gaming but make sure u get 2gb of ram, that's important (as well as the gpu). oh, and i have a 1.67ghz core 2 duo.

  • Sweet! Thats exactly what i am getting! 2 GB and 2.0 Ghz Core 2 duo, and the best GPU. Will crysis run if you have some settings on high-very high? Thanks Man!

  • No, it won't run at very high or high. I just tried out the Crysis demo with

FRAPS and I was surprised how low the fps I was getting (b/c it didn't feel that bad).

    NON-OVERCLOCKED, 1280 x 800:

-Medium: average 14-15fps (choppy but still playable)

    -Low: 23-24fps

    OVERCLOCKED 650mhz/875mhz, 1280 x 800:

    -Medium: 16-17fps

Honestly, Low and Medium don't look bad at all, actually pretty good (just some pop-in of rocks). If you lower it to 1024 x 768, it should be closer to 30fps.

  • well that the thing, don't run fraps, keep AA low and only overclock if u need to.also keep res no higher than 1440*900 or 1650 *1050. turn shaders and shadows on low-medium and u shud be gud

  • what happen if a get the 3GB ram it will be better for my dell Xps 1530? I mean it will be make it faster?

  • You generally want as much RAM as you can get; having an increasing number of applications open while multitasking, etc becomes far less sluggish since Windows uses the page file fare less often (obviously since there is more RAM). I currently have 3GB and will within a couple of months be upgrading to 4GB, simply due to my needs.

  • just remember on a 32bit version of vista the limitations of ram is 4gb (that includes ur gpu's ram as well as ur system ram). so unless u have a 64bit version ur vista is only going to be able to use about 3.5gb of the 4gb u have.

  • BTW, I just updated to driver 174.20 (from 169.04) and it gave me a HUGE improvement in gaming. Now when I run the Crysis Demo on OC-ed, i average 22-23fps on medium. Which is +6-7 fps from the old firmware. And 22-23fps is extremely playable.

  • OK, that is why updating drivers is critical! lol, do you think I can run the game with one or two things on high-very high, and maybe some on low? Thanks, I really appreciate it.

  • hey iam planning to buy this laptop, but have some questions, is the slot in drive is good? wht you do if he dvd stucks in the slot loading drive? howz dell in their service...

  • my slot drive is great. About the same noise level as a regular laptop cd drive. It does make a noise when you turn the computer on, but nothing major at all. Nothing has gotten stuck in there in the month I've owned it. If it did, I would just call out a tech. I have a 3 yr warranty. Their service has been great so far. XPS exclusive service, I had no wait time at all. I messed up my hdd by messing up some partitions and they replaced it quickly. Tech came out and did it in like 10 mins

  • worx, great!

  • thank you for this. I had alot a problems and it seemed to fix it.

  • No problem. Glad I could help!

  • Yep, I just tried it and you are right it went away after I did that. Thanks!

  • Glad I could help!!

  • works great. thnx man. i was just making circles till it went away. lol.

  • Lol. Yea, I was doing that too, but it took forever!!!

    GLAD IT WORKED!

  • I'm going to try it I had a goo 20-30 sec too. I though first it was probably the heat that's causing it to go crazy. When it's turned off and turned back on the touchpad seems fine only when the lid is close while the power is continuously on. But thanks for the solution.

  • Yea, i set my pc to do nothing when closed (dont want it to sleep until after a few hrs) and it does it mostly when i open it back up after a few minutes of being closed...sometimes even hours later though. Works almost every time if done right. I dont know if everyones is int he upper right corner like mine though...so give it a try and let me know

  • It did worked not as much on double tap but more on slant line like you did. I think it was probably the heat that's causing it go crazy. Getting the touchpad to recognize to go back to default touch settings buy going around in circles(4 corners)also works for me. Thanks for the general tip even so. We all thought it was a Gen Malfunc that's capable of returning, but its a small issue anyone should still keep this excellent machine we have.

  • Works for me.

  • glad to hear I was of help!!

  • Yup, thanks! :)

  • Hey, I also heard that you can tap the center of the touchpad twice and it should work just as well. I tried it and it worked.

    GOOD LUCK!
