  • Impressive performance in spots but uneven overall. I agree with the comments about vibrato but that's not the only problem.

Also, please don't misuse the tag list.

    mcp

  • There are a lot of spots where your vibrato works, although I agree with a lot of people in that you occasionally use it too much. You have a beautiful voice, and I'm definitely looking at other things you've done. Thanks for posting this!

  • Wayyyy too much vibrato. Vocals are still good though just the vibrato was a bit overwhelming

  • i really like it but i think you used a little too much vibrato your voice is really mature and i think you can make it really far with a singing career. Can you sing alto also? cause that'll get you really far.

  • @meadowgustafson123 i agree. there's too much vibrato. Christine is supposed to use it a lot, but not on every note. PS I think you're really talented. That's not what I'm saying. I just think you should take it down a notch.

  • i love phantom pf the opera! when i was grade 3 i read the book and when i finished i wanted to cry! :_)

  • you have a very strong voice - great job!!! :)

  • wow very good awsome job got chills i loved phantom of opera

  • 60 people are deaf

  • all my life going to school everyday learning music, i never once understand the soprano, mezzo and other stuffs but i grew up loving music. i started singing songs like this when i used to watch snow white and other princess movies. i love this songs. love your beautiful angelic voice. keep it up. you might make it to broadway.

  • That was great!! I mean it...more feeling than the movie, I think

  • Wow simply AMAZING. perfect voice for the song. your truly a great singer. keep it up and I garantee you will be on broadway someday. The sky's the limit :).

  • Very, very, very good! And I'm picky! :-) I'd also like to add that your acting for this song is amazing! Subtle yet very convincing, not forced at all.

  • I think that contemporary style songs don't really suit you, and that you should sing opera. It's a compliment :) You have a lot of power.

  • Wow!

  • I love the opening. During the first part of the song, you convey the feeling perfectly. There were some "weird" tones, but she managed to cover it with overall performance. Bravo!!

  • beautifully sung, well done. I hope to hear more of your voice.

  • wow that was amazing!

  • Is this really you? Because your voice...it's amazing, and beautiful. Honestly, you should go far. And you have a lot of chances, you're quite young aren't you?

  • @daanok, my opinion can't be rejected, just because of what other people think.

  • You have a talent! =)

  • Hey! That was excellent! I was wondering where you got your karaoke. I have searched high and low, in and out and cannot find the karaoke for this song!! :) Where'd you get yours?

  • Brava! Brava! Bravissimo! Excellent performance! I haven't heard as good of a rendition of that piece since Sarah, Brightman! Very well done and controlled. And I know what you mean. I consider myself a lyrical tenor. So I kinda know how that works. Keep on vocalizing and congratz to you and your teacher. I'm sure she is very pleased. Feel free to check out some of my vids if you have the time. I'm a huge Josh Groban fan so most of my vids reflect my appreciation for his music. :)

  • Omg AWSOME VOICE

  • im used too hearing a higher voice singing this but you sang it in a diffrent pitch and it sounded great loved it

  • she seems pretty confortable to me with her higher voice....you did great

  • The song was lovely, up until "Too many years". That's when it became obvious that you are not completely comfortable with your upper range. It became a bit pitchy. However, there's an obvious improvement from the video with you singing "Unexpected Song"and this one. Keep singing!

  • The vibration is terrible.. and she doesn't sing in the right tempo.. but ok its not bad, defintly not.. but please, don't see this like i'm attacking you, every singer has to learn from critics..

  • i love this so much, hayley you amazing

    outstanding preformance!!

  • I am no real expert to say anything really for or against this singer (except that I am used to this song in true soprano). The only thing that would have against this performance is poor video quality.

  • I guess some other would disagree but, my criticism would be that the way she is singing doesn't this doesn't quite convey the sorrowful tone of this song. It doesn't seem "sad" enough. The body language seems a bit too upbeat, and at times she seems to be smiling, which seems very out of place. It doesn't sound like this song is coming from a sad, lonely young girl who is walking all alone through a foggy cemetery wishing her dead father was still alive.

  • Lovely rendition, however, sounds like it was done to a recorded track and the lyrics/emotion of the song called for longer phrasing than the track allowed. Would love to hear it done with a live orchestra. I'm sure it would have been even better :)

  • Fabulous! Brava!

  • your good, but your no Sarah Brightman...

  • @rbdzntsfrlk Sarah Brightman might sing fine and professional, but she is so fake in her interpretation. This girl actually seems to feel the words : )

  • Comment removed

  • @rbdzntsfrlk what's the point of your comment? to fulfill your daily dose of douche?

  • Congrats on getting this a promoted video. You're voice is REALLY hypnotic I just got lost in it lol I'm betting you could give Emmy Rossum a run for her money maybe even Sarah Brightman. Hope to see you on Broadway :-P

  • very good performance

  • everytime I here phantom of the opera songs I feel all sad and breathe taken by it :')

  • wow, this gave me chills!!! <3 absolutley looooove!!

  • you

    are

    absolutely

    incredible

  • Gave me goosebumps, I love that song and you sung it very well : )

  • Very nice vocals! Excellent! I subscribed! :D

  • You are a Soprano? No. You are a stunning Soprano (lyric coloratura)

That voice of yours should be declared a National treasure.

I voted for ya, least I could do.

  • Very good! Adding the vibrato earlier into the last note would make it even better but still, very impressive

  • I love this. Representing the Mez. Soprano

  • dont let anybody bring you down you will be the next sarah ..give it time youll see ..and ive been listening to sopranos for a long time ..

  • Puzzled by the shouts and screams from the audience when a high note is hit by singers today in the middle of a song, if its part of the song why not cheers at the end, its rude to interrupt.

  • Your amazing=) I love the phantom of the opera. A little obsessed with it actually lol. Anyway I don't care what the rest of the haters on here say. I thought you was great.

  • Wow, she's good!

  • OMG!!!!! Came Tears to my eyes at the end there!!! Seen it live, and this is AS well and maby evan better!!! The pitch and control is Perfect!!! You should have had a full Symphony orcestra backing you there!!! Respect from a fellow Vokalist!!! ;)

  • bloody hell! thats how you do it :)))

  • I have to say that, that was the most convincing rendition of wish you were somehow here again i have heard. You used both mezzo-soprano and soprano together perfectly to convey the emotion of the song. Simply put Gorgeous... Don't pay any attention to those who look down on this performance, I would love to see them do better, because i seriously doubt they can. Those who cannot do attempt to discourage. Keep on singing, you have an incredible gift!

  • you're amazing ... i hope someday they will recognize you goodluck

  • Your amazing... Im lost for words... I've seen a lot of people sing, but your the best!!

  • This is possably the best phantom cover I've ever seen

  • Wow, the sweet side of your tone makes you sound like Kristen Chenowith. You have a wonderful voice and should pursue it as far as you can take it.

  • oh very very nice, like the real professional singer.

  • Oh wow! How old are you? That's amazing!

  • WOW..thats so impressive ..well done noelle

  • her hair needs more volume. then ill leave the shes cute comments

  • Great singing :) An own combination of operatic and normal singing which I like! Keep up the good work!

  • Technically speaking, every word must be sung in order to be considered an opera.

  • truly the voice and face of an angel

    thanks for sharing these moments

  • it isn't opera, it is musical theatre, but it is excellent well done girl!

i'm doing this with my singing teacher in high school and i love it...

  • Um actually....it's not a 'form' of opera. It's a 'form' of music. As I said before, the word "opera" is in the title of the musical, but it's not the genre of the piece. I have no problems with Phantom. I think it's a great show. But as an opera singer, I get annoyed when it is misclassified just because of its title. It is a wonderful example of Musical Theater. The two genres separated in the 1930s and now have completely different characteristics.

  • beautiful! really was!

but you are jumping on phrases too fast in several areas. you could draw your phrases out longer sometimes.

    otherwise great!!

  • 'Phantom' is not opera. To even consider it opera is completely misguided. If the title of the show were 'Phantom' of the Baseball stadium" would you call it a baseball game? The Phantom is 'haunting' an opera hall. The title has nothing to do with the genre. Please do not call this an opera just because the word 'opera' is in the title of the show. I love both musicals and operas. I hate that just because the word 'opera' is in the title of the show, every thinks that 'Phantom' is an opera.

  • @jonathanstinson technically it is a rock-opera, im not even sure what that is, but that is what it is... not too mention, carlotta does require a coloratura soprano to play her, some is opera but it is mostly not.

  • Um relax...and it is a "form" of opera...

  • yes technically the music and singing in 'the phantom' is not technically opera as it is not sung in italian however it is sung in operatic style.

  • @brandnewyork48

There are Russian and French and Spanish operas as well, therefore your comment is stupid.

  • i know there are operas in other languages but i am a musical theatre student and we spent ages researching stuff about opera and by definition it should be sung in italian (i dont know why but thats how it is) so please, don't call me stupid for being technical.

  • @brandnewyork48 perhaps because they were the first to write operas? or perhaps it was the sexiest language at the time to write in. Handel??

  • possibly lol!

  • @phangirl727 im sure there are english ones too

  • @brandnewyork48 Much of opera is in Italian, but many are in French, German, Russian, and even English. The music in "Phantom" is pretty operatic even though it is a musical.

  • Excellent Job !! This is one of my favorite songs. I do however agree with Saphire848, the one characteristic that makes Opera, well Opera is the vibrato overkill. I appreciate all music however as a musician myself a balanced mix of vibrato notes with well placed powerful flat line sustain tones would probably make everyone enjoy more opera music. I just wanted you to know I very much enjoyed yours

    I'm also in FL :)

  • Very nice voice, great tone and support, and I love the youthful sound.

    Great soprano singer!

    <3 Vi.

  • Noelle is a very good singer! Very good control of most of the song and lovely vibrato but I agree with some of the criticism. There is too much vibrato. When used less, at the right times, it a far more powerful effect and shows that you can do more with the voice. She also swallowed the "th" on a high note which was a sign of momentary loss of control.

She needs more variety with her voice but she certainly has the power and ability, as well as a beautiful voice.

  • Where are you from?

    Your face like Hayley Westenra!

  • Thanks! Someone else also commented on that. I'm from Florida, USA by the way.

  • Wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you have way too much vibrato in the wrong parts. you should use it as you crescendo. you build at the wrong parts, otherwise GOOD!

  • pleasant voice . Needs more work on breath support, losing control on the build and is going flat on 300 - 304 also 313 -314. otherwise nice.

  • WOAH!!! O_Ob

  • a little bit over the top - trying a bit too hard.

  • My first comment seemed to go missing when I posted.

Anyway, very nice singing. U have a lovely tone.

I hope u don't mind but I attached a video response of me at 16. Always interesting to compare styles.

How is your singing progressing since this was posted. Hope it's all going well.

    Cheers from Downunder.

  • how old is she?

  • @Heiko66691 17

  • Unreal !

  • well done really good. Do you think (Think of Me ) is more difficult to sing than Wishing you were somehow here again.

    I am 12.

  • Beautiful voice and superbly powerful....

but understanding the song - quality is not always voice strength but also understanding the message of the words.

  • Absolutely superb! Further comments unnecessary.

  • She did a great job, but she milked the 'r''s a little too much. They were exaggerated a bit much. Her voice placement is spot-on gorgeous, though. What a rich voice!

  • I didn't notice anything strange about the r's at all. A difference of accent, perhaps?

  • Agreed on the 'r', and on the beautiful voice, haha.

  • Gorgeous!

  • Magnificent!

I wish I could be a soprano :) I'm a soprano 2/alto 1 and can only sing this song on a REALLY good day.

  • I think you are magnificent......I'm jealous....but i have question for you....do you sing this song with your chest voice or....how do you call it....head voice....I'm starting with solo lessons next year,so i want to be informed till that :) I can't find anyone to explain me a little bit solo singing techniques....but i see you are amazing! :D I want voice like yours :D

  • I believe she switched to head voice on the last note "BYE" but was in her natural (chest) voice the rest of it, well some classical vocalists would rather call it middle voice or something else, especially when they are singing in a forward soft-toned groove that lyric voices have... but some sopranos sing almost entrely in their natural voices even crazy high notes, but their forward voice usually sounds like a beautiful head voice or mix. Mirusia Louwerse sings this in her natural.

  • Oh thanks....:) ♥

  • You're welcome :) Anytime

  • where are you from... poland, russia ,...where your english is very good and i agree with you one hundred percent.

  • I'm from Serbia ;)

  • Muza Rusha:)

  • thats cool yeah i wish i was from somewhere interesting like that im from The U.S. and my compliments on you english

    and сретно са певањем лекција

  • She has a great voice but this song is totally unsuitable. She is a mezzo-soprano, this song is for soprano. Bad song choise. =(..

  • Well, actually, according to my voice teacher, who was a former opera singer, I am a soprano (lyric coloratura to be specific) who happens to have an extended lower range. I can go all the way up to high F, which mezzo sopranos cannot hit. The "lyric" aspect of my voice makes it appear to be richer and little deeper than some lighter sopranos, but I'm still a soprano nonetheless.

  • @RAdderton so it sorry. Soprano to be high, clean and especially lightweight as a feather. It might be that I am the highest soprano, and and in my case, it is. So I don't know...

  • RAdderton, don't worry about rules, such as the "rule" that sopranos cannot have a richer vibrato voice. These rules never apply to all. You might not fit into a particular box lol. Great performance!

  • @RAdderton Check-mate...lol...great singing

  • @RAdderton Hey, which F do you mean? I'm trying to work out what kind of Soprano I am lol.

  • @RAdderton Coloratura? You're confusing me! Coloraturas are supposed to have very high and agile voices... you sound like a lyric to me.

  • @PhanPhanPhanPhanPhan That's true, but this song is made for a lyric soprano, so there really shouldn't be any agile leaps in this song.

  • @sedlina8 Well I have the same name as her, and I am a mezzo too. They can sing just as high as first sopranos. If you're deeper that means you're a mezzo. Mezzos can sing just as high.

  • shes kinda cute.....and she sounded good too haha

  • she has great potential, beautiful voice, really nice vibrato too :D

  • To be honest. She is really raw and has great inflection. Although she needs to practice with her lung capacity to be able to really hold a note for any length of time. All and all well done. Next time do without the VHS copy and that may improve overall audio output. Best of luck young star!

  • @tobyrozon What are you talking about?

Which note didn't she hold long enough?

  • @PeterMc54 I guess he means that she has a very strong vibration, which can point to difficulty with the length of notes. I'm guessing it's just a matter of nerves.

  • she has really tiny hands that don't match her bug voice. ; )

  • she is even better than Emma Rossum, and i can't believe that at all, but it is true.

her voice is beautiful (face to match and all)

  • Emmy Rossum wasn't actually that good to begin with. Granted she knew know to sing, but she more or less fit the look of Christine, not really the voice.

  • Funny that you say that considering she won awards for her voice as a child and was hired on her singing ability first....

  • That's actually really interesting to note. I suppose it's just my strong personal opinion then, I honestly didn't feel she suited to play Christine. I always felt that Rebecca Caine had the best interpretation of Christine, so naturally I would compare the movie adaptation accordingly.

  • There's something rare about her voice. It makes her very unique. In a good way.

  • rare alto quality-- very nice :)

  • Really great! Glad to hear that there are people out there who still enjoy performing this musical! lol. Im sure Sarah would be impressed!

  • Shes amazing. her voice is just a little to deep for this song. I dont mean like alto note deep just the depth of her notes seem too deep for this song. Its supose to be emotional but short. crisper sounding maybe this seemed too dark.

  • I think that its just that she has a very full quality to her voice. Its strong. Sarah's voice is hard to duplicate lol & so is Emmy's. They have more of a high & very piercing quality. But I see where you're coming from. Better than what I can do anyhow lol.

  • wow nice voice it was awesome

  • Just Woooooooooooow. Amazing performance.

  • Whow, that's some voice. This is actually kind of better than the original. Nice ! (Y)

  • best version i have heard. ot too heavy not too light but just perfection. :)

  • WOW- you have a very beautiful, powerful voice- Bravo!!!

  • the last note was a lil pitchy .. but other than tht you NAILED IT hun!

  • Who cares what those people think you are still amazing!!!!!!!

  • aww, thanks Rain :)

  • lovely:) I enjoyed this so much. your a lovely young women, this song is lovely, and the way you sang it was lovely. everything about it absolutely lovely:) 5 stars.

  • I have a thing for pretty young women who can sing well. Nice perfomance, Noelle!

  • I think you sound like Emmy Rossum. You were shrill on some parts. Otherwise, good job.

  • Just saw her performance of "Unexpected Song from Song and Dance". I would up my rating of her after seeing that. You might have a shot at something big. Good luck. You are better than I first thought.

  • Nice job. You have a nice voice and maybe your talent could open some doors for you. But I wouldn't describe your voice as "amazing" or "special" or anything like that. I would just say you are better than most people, but not quite good enough. But who knows?

  • agreed :l

  • Wow... really beautiful!!!

  • Nice, but I like the tempo of Holly Steel's version better.

  • I like Hollie Steele's performance better and think she is a better singer, but this girl is very good.

  • i thought she was amazing to bad she freaked out

  • Absolutely beautiful. You must never give up - not matter what you do - keep singing!

  • well done lady noelle brava..

  • bloody hell, you had me captivated from the second you began! this is the most amazing version of this song I have ever heard. you're fantastic! (:

  • I know these opinions mean nothing to you, but I find that your voice has a wonderful quality in terms of intonation.

Your vibrato is gorgeous and well developed, but in your highest notes, you cover your voice, and I personally find this a wee bit grating. Otherwise, well done.

  • really good! your almost EPICLY amazing!

  • but its still reeally pritty :)

  • a bit shaky but i like your voice more than Sarah Brightman when did it!

  • If she used about two thirds of the vibrato she's using, she would be even better than she already is!!! She's really good, and she's pretty too.

  • She has a really nice voice, but she uses way too much vibrato. If she toned that down a bit I would love it.

  • just watch and study Sarah Brightman the master.

You already have 85% in the singing.

  • I prefer Rossum's version, personally.

  • This is REALLY good!

You have a primo mix voice that flows seamlessly into head, bravo!

Try not to over-act though. This is a simple beautiful song that only needs small and subtle facial expressions. =)

  • She is amazing! Great job! Kudos!

  • Good!

  • amazing i would love to sing with you

  • but you know how to sing...just don't strain too much

    you can cream in singing

and when you did, you kinda pulled the mic away back a lil bit

  • to me it looks like you were straining to sing.

Since you kept touching your stomach and throat..

And to me, it seemed a bit shaky

  • Go Noelle your amazing

  • you are very good, :) i wish i could sing like that, some people are natural singers :)

  • you have a great instrument there, great voice...train it and you could even sing Opera...or musical theater, whichever you prefer...good luck :)

  • I couldn't belt even if I wanted to. I just don't have the right type of voice to belt full out. Some people can do it naturally. I would be only hurting myself by attempting that. There are some more contemporary theater songs I could probably get away with singing in my straight-toned middle voice though.

  • I never thought I was a belter either, not really a singer, until my voice teacher made me belt a middle C. That was the day I learned to try to take chances in my voice practice.

It was just a suggestion. If you practice and learn how to support your voice, you could try it. You have a beautiful voice, nonetheless. Keep it up!

  • You know what? i see the same charactertics in my voice asn I do yours. I took voice lessons at the college level, GOD it helped me SOO well, I can sing Mein Herr Marquis, and I thought I was an alto yeah right! You have a wonderful untrained voice with some voice lessons it won't take you long at all to progress into fantastic! Think about opening up your voice instead of straigning with consonants, let the vowels dominate!!!

  • Hmm, she's pretty good. She sounds like she could be a pretty good belter, by the sounds of it.

  • I wouldn't recommend that she starts belting, though. Although it sounds good, it absolutely KILLS your voice. She starts belting, she won't be able to sing nearly as good as this, even in a couple years, unless she knows how to support it well..

    Nonetheless, beautiful performance!!

  • beautiful voice

  • it was amazing! i tryed to sing that song and listening to your voice makes me so jealous! i loved it!

  • Amazing. Simply amazing!
