Uhh...can we stop comparing two musicians who are both awesome but play completely different styles, and just appreciate their given talents? You can fight to the death over which chocolate is better, Swiss or Belgian, when they're both completely delicious and it still just comes down to a matter of taste (FWIW, I am a professional musician myself). Besides, she is certainly *very* naturally talented. She studied with freakin' Segovia for pete's sake...

@jackslicl100 Charo is a smart lady. She knows what sells. She amazed people with her playing back in the early 70's. The fact that she can laugh at herself, and entertain people speaks volumes about her as a person. Cuchi Cuchi gained her popularity, and that's what many still expect from her. The point is she's always been a great entertainer, and sticks to what she knows, and has done well.

You cannot compare rock riffs with classical or flamenco guitar technique. Rockers would not be able to do this without considerable effort. And having to learn to read music as well. FWIW, I appreciate all sorts of great guitar, so this is not a musical bias. Charo is quite good.

I doubt that. Eddie can do so many licks that Charo would not be able to do, I'd love to see Charo even attempt the song Hot For Teacher. But there are some things on acoustic that charo could do that Eddie coudn't. But Eddie is a very good acoustic guitar player too. It would be close but Eddie would win just because there are so many riffs and licks he can do on electric that would confuse Charo. Charo is a great player, I love her style but she couldn't do the same riffs Eddie can do.

Moron!! Eddie VH is considered by many to be one of the best guitar players around. He's been named guitar player of the year many times by numerous magazines and other guitar publications. I'd still like to see Charro attempt a few Van Halen songs, especially Hot For Teacher. I really don't think she could play it. But it is a different sytle of guitar playing. It would be hard for Eddie to do the stuff Charro does but Eddie is a good acoustic player and could play a lot of the stuff she does.

But there is NO WAY Charo could pick up an electric guitar and play Eddie Van Halen's licks and riffs. I can gurantee you she can't do it. I play guitar, I know what I'm talking about. However, Eddie would not be able to do EVERYTHING Charo can do on acousticm I agree with that. But he could do quite a bit of it. I'd still like to hear Charo attempt Spanish Fly by Eddie VH, which is an acoustic song. I'm quite certain she would not be able to play it.

@SonyV1U I'll tell you why not... it's a different style of guitar playing. not very many guitar players can get up there and play EVH licks and riffs unless they are rock guitar players. Charo would not be able to play it. This is not an insult to Charo, I think she is a great player but she would not be able to play EVH guitar solos because it's not something she has "trained" herself to do. Its a compeletly different style of guitar playing.

Did you think EVH could play something like Spanish Fly before you heard him do it? Yet for some reason you think someone with as much training as Charo can't play something as simple as Spanish Fly? You're not thinking.

@SonyV1U I just seriously doubt she could play Spanish Fly. It's a totally different style of playing than what's she used to. Plus, listen to the solo in a song like Hot For Teacher. Its highly unlikely she could sit down and play that solo. For one thing... its an electric guitar solo. eletric guitar playing is way different than acoustic. I've been playing guitar for 20 years. I know what I'm talking about. Its the same situation as asking a singer thats used to singing blues to sing opera

@NationalMan And I've been playing for 42-years. So what? Do you honestly think Charo doesn't own a few electric guitars? Instrument manufacturers have been throwing guitars at her since the 60s. Spanish Fly is nice, but it can't compare to what Charo does. And she doesn't just play. She's a great arranger. Her rendition of Malagueana is completely different from anyone else's and is probably the best there is. Eddie would have to study another ten years to play like that.

@SonyV1U nope... you are wrong. those solos are not easy to play, they are some of the most advanced solos around. It's different to play them because they were written using a guitar pick which is something Charo is not used to. Plus, a lot of his solos have tapping in them which is another thing that Charo is not accustomed to. I can tell you for a fact, she couldn't pick up an electric guitar and play EVH solos. It would take some time for her to do it.
