I see this as an oddity and interesting because I've been in engineering level electronics and component level troubleshooting, but as a musician I don't see any practicality of it's use in it's current stage of development. I agree, it is interesting but seems to be too rough in form. My greatest complaint is the lag time for distortion responce. I don't know if it is the placement of the sensor or electronic lag, but it seems to take too long for the desired effect to kick in. You have to hold the note for too long while you activate the sensor. Or you have to be a guitar genius like Carlos here. Fun to watch but an expensive dust collector too me.

Wouldn't it be easier to mount the proximity effect pedal sideways on a mic stand and work it without taking your picking hand away from the guitar? That'd be a far easier and less expensive solution than retro-fitting a guitar body. It's a bit gimmicky for my taste but I applaud the effort.

I reckon a better place for the unit on the body would be between the strings and the cutout where you're resting it on your knee. That way you could strum and it'd be right in a convenient spot instead of having to strum then move your hand down to the jack plug. It'd also mean you could play a solo and just extend your fingers to get the sound, whereas at the moment you have to play all hammer-ons and put your hand somewhere else.
