  • Very informative but VERY funny in the beginning.

  • Sorry, I don't know of any drinks to provide for effective lubrication. The best thing to do is to stay hydrated and keep a bottle of H20(l) with you on stage when your performing. When I think about it any efficient lubrication would decrease the frequency at which your vocals vibrate, so the flexibility you have with your voice would be hampered...

  • Hey Michael.

    1. I caught that "Plug" about your upcoming piece. I look foward to that.

    2. The closing piece about pineapple juice was hilarious AND it sounded fantastic. You worked that out very well. Vocal stacking AND range.........GONE HEAD brutha!! lol

    3. I have a friend who eats a few bits of Olives to keep her chords moist. She also drinks organic strawberry juice as well. Just a few suggestions added to the context.

All the best of the best talented brutha.

  • I think "Throat-Coat" brand Tea is a good suggestion. Haven't tried it, but I heard it's excellent for singing.

Props for the bit at the end! "I'll stick with water... For now" haha!

  • @racer2k1260 - What's up! You know what, I tried throat coat and I didn't like the effect :-/ For some reason, it was similar to the pineapple and resulting scratchiness...nothing severe...it was subtle, but I didn't have the clarity I wanted....I have to check those ingredients. And ahaha, yes, I had to sing about my conclusion! :-)

  • Michael, I have a science back ground water is neutral where as pine..... juice has acidic properties which could irritate your vocals, which is what I think happened to you the other day.

  • @D3O6T9 - What's up! I agree with you...that acidic irritation was a hindrance! No more! Lol. Question, scientifically speaking, do you know of any drinks that have lubricating properties that would be beneficial for the throat?

  • @Michael - LOL why you laughed ,It true

Okay JILL SCOTT was on the Mo`Nique she got ready to sing

she pull out some ( HOT SAUCE) this it true. (LOL).

I love PATTI LABELLE I go to all of her shows when i can

Her lubrication is ( HONEY ) AND SOME WATER.

    TRY IT.

  • @LORENZO87100 - Lol, it's hilarious she pulled it out to be seen! She seems so cool and laid back though, so I know it wasn't a big deal to her.... Honey and water - yes, I like that concoction! I use raw honey and it does me well --- it tastes good at least, lol

  • Yams....ok, not really, but they ARE good. Water is it for me!

  • @spdrmnsimp - Lol! I'mma punch you --- if you don't pass those yams my way. Good indeed! Ha! Yessir to the watah!

  • Twizzlers and tea always works for me, i don't know why because i haven't did my research on the benefits of twizzlers to the throat

  • @MrChance18 -Someone told me that Mary J. Blige uses twizzlers as well! Twizzlers have licorice in them, right? OR are twizzlers the same as licorice? I know the herb licorice is used for sore throats (I know the candy isn't an equivalent, but there may be aspects of it)...so I'm thinking there is a connection....hmmm, another tasty option to try :-) Lol

  • I concur with all 3 sections of Eric's last comment. Show off. Also in full support of it.

As for your inquiry about lube (#snicker), I can't help. I'm probably going to ask you the same question down the line myself. How you find you answer though.

  • @luvaboy8020 - Lol@#snicker....I will keep you updated!

  • Hey Michael , I saw Jill Scott Show ,

She pull out ( HOT SAUCE ). It make you hit Hi notes.

    Try it .

  • @LORENZO87100 AHAHAHAHA! Lorenzo, I laughed SO hard at that. Does she really?! Wow. But I CAN see how it would open the nasal passages! I'm too nervous to try that. I would end up coughing right off stage, lol. Maybe at home as a test. Hope you're doing well man!

  • Michael stick with water................

  • @D3O6T9 - I shall never abandon it, lol. No, but really - I always make sure I am hydrated before a performance and will take a large cup or bottle of water on stage and calmly drink as needed (lol). What I love about the water is it's purity. It may not feel as lubricating as I would like, but unlike pineapple juice, it doesn't make my voice scratchy. Lol

  • Erykah Badu likes herbal tea and salty potato chips. True.

  • @Xone7 - What's up! YES! I'm gonna try the chips and see how I feel....thanks!

  • Number 1: U know u wrong for the video title... kinda sounds like it belongs on a different website (18 & UP). lol

Number 2: I appreciate the "AApproach" plug for getting your voice back to its optimally clear state :D

Number 3: The song at the end was hilarious... and clearly just an excuse for you to show off (which, of course, I am in full support of. LOL)

  • @EricArceneaux 1. HAAAAAAA!

    2. OF COURSE! I was breaking out various "AApproach" exercises to clear my voice up. I would have called you if it had gotten real serious, lol

    3. Lol! *hi-five* - aha!

  • Being in clubs...I learned to use cola NO ICE as a lubricant. Water dries my voice right out...but the cola (I totally know it's horrible crap) has syrup and bubbles that seem to refresh my throat really well. I sang rock is dance clubs for years with plain cola.

  • @DonSSanders - Don! Long time! Hope all is well. Now, lol, I admit, I've never thought of using soda. I'm scared! LOL - the sugar and carbonation. BUT I realize that everyone is different in their reactions to various drinks...I might try a sip during a practice, lol. I'm definitely an advocate for no ice!

  • try canola oil? heard it does lubricate ur throat

  • @JamminJamacan - I haven't tried Canola oil! I wonder how similar it would be to coconut oil. I will look into that...thanks!

  • I don't know cuz I can't sing lol... but why not try some type of oil, like extra virgin olive type stuff??

  • @im1shak1biotches - Lol...you know what, I haven't had extra virgin oive oil but I've tried Virgin Coconut oil in tea and it's VERY slippery/lubricating...yet I keep forgetting to try it during a performance, lol. I need to revisit that...

  • Good post fam, I didn't know a lot of this....

  • @AONSproductions - Thanks fam! Yeah, I started researching all of this during my Dreamgirls experience...all this smoke was on stage and I needed a strong lubricant to survive, lol

  • The bonus at the end was tight. As for the pineapple or any other suggestion, I don't know because I don't sing or at least not like that. Just when I'm in the moment and I bust out a note or two. And then I'm like uhhh, I'll keep that to myself. But I would like to learn. Just need to set some time for it.

  • @lqfunnybone - THANKS! I had to add the bonus to seal the deal, lol. As for learning to sing, we (the AApproach) welcome you if you ever want to work with us!

  • I was going to be serious and recommend that you stick with room temperature water - until I heard the song at the end! I think I'm mad at that! Lol Talented and funny:-)

  • @aprilstone31 - Ahahaha! I need to patent that jingle! Room temperature water is a-l-w-a-y-s a safe choice. Thanks!

  • Whenever I Performed I tend to drink HiCi Fruit punch.(Not the kind with lemonade or anything highly acidic. Acid doesnt fit well with my voice. lol Seems dumb but my throat would not dry out. I need to say I am not a professional singer and I sing in choirs and such with only about three to five songs a set. But it helped me soo I dont know mabe it will wrok for you By the way that pineapple juice song #Priceless lol Be Blessed Bro

  • @Nippyfit86 - Hello! Hmm, I haven't had Hi-C Fruit punch in awhile. Acid does NOT fit well with me either, lol. I will give it a try! As for the pineapple juice song, thanks! lol. You be blessed too!

  • did you in 1 point of uploading this video .... think about another way to name your video.

Cuz I saw your face ... than I read the name of the video. And I laughed :D

    I used honney allot.

  • @zizikelizike - Lol. I laughed as well. It wasn't intentional at first, but then I said, "bahwell" and left it - ha! Honey! Yes, a favorite for many. I tried that in my experiment today....

  • Well one of my Artist eats Potato chips before recording, now I never tried it but it seem to work for him. Then I heard a interview from Erykah Badu and she likes to use Potato chips as well because the oil from the chips lubricates her throat before singing.

  • @FDDavis2 - What's up! YES! I think I saw that same video --- she talked about the oil and said the salt gives her a mild 'scratchy' sound she likes. I think she also uses maple syrup, lemon and water? I haven't tried potato chips yet, but I'm tempted due to the benefit of the oil --- and for my love of chips, lol. Thanks for sharing!
