I am curious to see... when Reva will become very popular in the world like Prius does for hybrid today. And then, someone would hack the system and bring the hidden reserve out to be used like someone modified Second generation of Prius for EV mode.... or add more battery pack for extra range.
I really want to know, How? Does it recharge on the go or is the reserve kinda dangerous or wasteful as it can deplete the battery. I dunno but this is a really good idea.
I do not understand this. Why to call a number to get the reserve activated and not doing this by just pressing a button in the car?? Confused about the concept... What have I missed here?
This feature has been designed to address 'range anxiety' which many electric vehicle buyers experience. So with REVive the operator will remotely asses the car’s batteries and safely release additional energy, while protecting the life of the batteries. Probably, drivers of electric cars are no more likely to run out of electricity than driver of conventional cars are to run out of liquid fuel, but this feature should help in wider adoption of electric cars.
It allows Reva to charge a subscription or fee for the small percentage at the bottom of the battery that you have already paid for.
On the plus side, it might make some people feel better about range anxiety, and they will pay for the privilege. Hopefully if you don't want to pay, that remaining capacity is usable and not locked by some battery management system.
@SOPM2007 there is a nominal 20% of your battery that is not normally used to preserve the lifespan of the battery. You can get away with it once or twice, but beyond that it will negatively affect the battery life. This prevents the average driver from hitting the button twice a week.
smooth audio edits. LOL

@toyotaprius79
It probably isn't dangerous, but it is just there just for emergency purposes.
