  • when i first watched this i was 19 and it rekindled my fear of the dark feel sorry for little kids who are afraid of the dark because now the doctor has given them something to genuinely fear

  • I miss Tenny so much!

  • Leave it Donna to make you laugh out loud during a sad and serious situation

  • daleks aim for the eye stalk sontorans back of the neck vashta nerada run just run

  • So scared of doctor who baddies

  • creepiest dr who baddie ever

    (exept maybe weeping angels)

  • @UberEpicSam Silence are up there too.

  • I think Donna is being extraordinary thick here, how can she travel with The Doctor and not get that The Doctor hasn't "met" River Song yet? Doesn't she understand time travel at all?

  • The real world is a lie??? Oh god...that statement makes even the cake seem real.

  • I do not like River. I hate how she bounces around thinking she's all sexy, and young, and clever! She's not. "Love Interest" is certainly not the archetype I would've chosen for her.

  • @doodl3bugg13 she thinks she's sexy? She never said that. But we all know she thinks the Doctor's sexy ;D

  • @firestonegal1 And we know that the Doctor thinks she is sexy. :D

(And I have to agree with both of them.)

  • @doodl3bugg13 Doesn't matter what you like, in the story they like eachother, so what are you going to do about it? Don't be shallow, appearances aren't everything.

  • @TheCorreon I'm not talking specifically about her looks, I mean she's just too old! For her to be a love interest is weird for me. She's more of a mother figure or even a mentor figure (archetypically speaking) - not a young woman in love.

  • @doodl3bugg13 Of course it's weird, but don't think like a human, that's the purposes of the series, the doctor isn't human, he thinks like a timelord, afterall he is so old... I get that people don't see it at the start, but things shape as they begin to understand what the doctor and river really are, forget archetypes. ;)

  • @doodl3bugg13 you do know the Doctor is over 900 years old, right?

  • @doodl3bugg13 You must be pretty young. :)

  • Death metal is strongly advised to be played over this

  • List of things I'm now afraid of.

    1. Shadows

    2. Statues

    3. Water

    4. dejavu

    6. dust in sunbeams.

  • Vashta Nerada: A new reason to be afraid of the dark.

  • Pssh, wasn't planning on sleeping anyway......

  • O.k. SURVEY time! Thumbs up this comment, then answer the question: Who (NO pun intended) was the BEST Doctor? William Hartnell 1963–66 Patrick Troughton 1966–69 Jon Pertwee 1970–74 Tom Baker 1974–81 Peter Davison 1981–84 Colin Baker 1984–86 Sylvester McCoy 1987–89, 1996 Paul McGann 1996 Christopher Eccleston 2005 David Tennant 2005–10 Matt Smith 2010–present
  • whats this episode called

  • @LightDarkNinja silence in the library

  • screw the cake!!! the real world IS A LIE!!!!!

  • "These monsters? Oh yea. They exist in shadow. Pretty much any shadow. You see a shadow? That might be one of them. They might even be in the dust in sunlight, who knows? And they'll just strip the flesh from your bones in seconds. Like that! Boom. Dead."

...Well! Thanks Steven Moffat for guaranteeing that I'LL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.

  • @JamesOhGoodie Can't sleep...Vashta Nerada will eat me...can't sleep...Vashta Nerada will eat me...

  • @JamesOhGoodie It's only if they have a big enough swarm though, and that is quite rare.

  • @EmmanuelGoldstein2 then why are u even on this? HMM? HMMM?

  • The 10th Doctor is my favourite! I miss those days! Still, 11th is not that bad...

  • @EmmanuelGoldstein2 c**t is a word used for a woman, and I am a man. So that last comment is meaningless.

  • @kaizoisevil IT IS USED FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, SO JUST STOP WITH THOSE COMMENTS! DO YOU REALIZE THAT KIDS ALSO GO ON YOUTUBE?

  • @KoolKid6500 I realize kids go here, which is why I censored it. But the other commenter did not even censor it.

  • @kaizoisevil i know! i just wanted to correct you. i didn't meen anything bad, just to tell you that c**t is a word for both genders.

  • @KoolKid6500 oh, did not know that. Well...anyway...let's ignore that troll.

  • @EmmanuelGoldstein2 and you should be GIVEN HELL by the teselecta.

  • Adverts on a BBC channel. I'm disappointed.

  • "whats in that book?"

    "Spoilers"

    *the docter opens it*

    "Snape Kills Dumbledor"

    *facepalm*

  • Not everyone comes out of the dark.

  • the shadows are moving..OMG my shadows!!!

  • God.... god... ! God damnit! God-god damnit! God damnit god damnit GOD DAMNIT! GOD. DAMNIT!!! WHY'D YOU BLOCK IT FROM SINGAPOUR

  • @COZYTW Yay It's not block from Malaysia!!!

  • @TheNakamurai ... You ass.

  • Loved this ep!

  • Wats the episode called

  • @PackManZz Silence in the Library

  • Wats the episode called

  • ah i understand what river song is talking about now!

  • @EmmanuelGoldstein2 Then go die in a well

  • What is the name of that piece of music in the background just before River says "Salad and a bit of chicken, knock yourself out."? I MUST KNOW

  • Only the Doctor can hold a lunchbox in one hand and a flashlight in the other and still be epic.

  • As devastating as coming across The Doctor WHEN he's 100% oblivious to her existence is, hopefully she had the perspective that his earlier meetings of her very likely are what helped to make their bond what it was, 'cause while she had to endure something analogous to a loved one w/alzheimer's 'cause of him being someone she knew, well, perhaps better than we'd be interested in knowing about, what were later experiences for her w/him were earlier experiences for him w/her. SEEMED TO understand.

  • @EmmanuelGoldstein2 So why are you watching this video?

  • i miss David

new guy is good but i love David he is just awsome

  • lol, Donna: "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! Do you know him or do you?!" lol I miss her so freaking much. TIP TO THE BBC, MOFFAT AND THE DW WRITERS: bring back Donna!!!!!!!!! She's the best companion ever.

  • @shahoney They can't. If Donna ever remembers the Doctor, she will die. (Unless the metacrisis gave her the ability to regenerate, that is.)

  • @Trukknotmunky - Um, I know... but if you're a good writer, you always find a way to bring character back.

  • I love the line 4022 saved no survivors. It's so cleaver.

  • re watching doctor who from the start... its just not the same as the first time you see it. MESAGE TO EVERY ONE, DONT SPOIL THE SERIES FOR YOUR SELF IT WILL RUIN YOUR DOCTOR WHO EXPERIENCE

  • Watching this scene is always weird once you've seen the episode, cause you can see the VN swarm enter Dave's suit

  • I love the flippy thing he does with the flashlight...

  • Donna is so daft! She travels with the Doctor through time and space, has seen so many amazing things and yet cant wrap her head about the doctor meeting another time traveler in the future that he doesn't know now or that theres something on earth we don't know about...

  • "Donna Noble has left the library, Donna Noble has been saved." Repeat 80 million times!!

  • Donna Nobel ended up being the BEST companion.

  • @Tanru2000 My favorite is Martha. Martha is the BEST for me. But that's just my opinion.

  • "I'm The Doctor. We're in the biggest library in the universe. Look Me Up!"

  • Donna Nobel has left the library

    Donna Nobel has been saved

  • God, I love River Song

  • I loved the Nine Doctor since 'Father's Day' and wasn't convinced by the Tenth until he had his monologue in 'The Satan Pit', then I loved him all the way until the end. And then Eleven popped his wet head out of a crashed sideways TARDIS and became Amelia's imaginary friend and I became a fan instantly. The Doctor's my favourite Doctor. Especially when Steven Moffat writes him. Then I'm glued to the screen.

  • @TerrifeyedProduction He was a bloody good doctor, but i'll admit i did get annoyed by him during his final series. I dunno what it was but i just prefer Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston. Also i really did not like Donna, not in the Run Away Bride or the 4th series. All in all though he did a grand job of it.

  • Sometimes I think people hate on Ten because so so SO many people liked him. Love for ALL the Doctors!! :3

  • Yo momma's a Vashta Nerada!

  • David Tennant was the best doctor :)

  • Run. Run. Ruu!

  • Akuna Matata

  • hey, who turned out the lights?

  • "Do you know him or don't you?" LOL Donna's hilarious

  • 2:24-2:30

Lol! I LOVE Donna so much. She is so... alive!

  • used to be scared of this

  • I've never actually seen this show, but it looks good. Also, that Donna woman is a stupid cow.

  • @SirDakkalot Well, Donna's gone, The Doctor's changed, and now he has a married couple as his companions.

  • My god Donna is thick. She knows the Doctor is a time traveler and yet the idea that he meets a "future" girlfriend completely escapes her.

  • @Blasted2Oblivion No it's just jealousy getting in the way of reasoning ;)

  • Doctor Moon reminds me of the guy from the Matrix when he talks about nightmares... wow... Neo...

  • somehow matt doesn't set off the whole 'serious' vibe. he's mostly joking around. I mean don't get me wrong he's funny but he doesn't act like that 900 year old time lord most of the time. sometimes he can get a little annoying

btw love Donna she's umm feisty hahaha

  • Matt Smith rules.

  • :( mehhh

  • where's the love for river song?? both of the top two comments are about tennant. we get it, i'm a massive fangirl too, but how about alex kingston? she's amazing!

  • I want to see chicken legs being devoured by shadow monsters! I don't care about Beaver Falls!

  • I miss David Tennant, but I love Matt Smith. :)

  • Doctor Who kind of looks like Tobuscus.

  • such a cute little girl

  • "...just run." Or you know, you could gas the place, set it on fire. It's not like they're invincible. It's a swarm. Some pesticides would do the trick.

Or it would just make them angry. What happens when you make a shadow angry?

  • "Hey, who turned out the lights?!"

  • thats wasnt vashta nerada that was black people

  • @dalektaliban That's cute. Now, are you sure you're allowed on the internet without supervision?

  • @imrunningandscreamin well my pimp is very stritct about what times i am allowed on the computer

  • too*

  • david tennant was fantasic but i matt is great to=)

  • "daleks aim for the eye stock. sontarians back of the neck. vashta nerada?... run. just run"

  • whos the girl

    the little girl

  • @fishswishroxz the one watching the tv? shes what the libraries computer is using as a life source. and so when u see her its just showing her dreams.

  • @fishswishroxz Spoilers.....

  • It's Melody Pond! Amy's daughter!

  • This is what Song refers to when she said in the current series that she'll die from the sadness because she will the Doctor that doesn't know her yet, right?

  • Oh god. I have a psychiatrist. Now I'm scared.

"Nate, you know that dream you have, where you're in that desert and there are people being chased by a giant monster?"

    "Yeah."

"Well, that's real. You're real world and everything in it is a lie. The only thing in your life that has ever really existed is that desert and those people."

    "..."

"Oh and you're the only one who can save them. Bye!"

    "Wait, WHAT!?!"

  • 1:02 look at the painting in the background of a blonde girl and a wolf is that rose well of course it is

  • @therobloxianfilmgang Badwolf reference maybe?

  • @Heremateyerma i know for definate it it is it was in my necices mag lol

  • BLUE SONIC SCREWDRIVER :DDDDDDDDD

  • I don't like how rude Donna is to River Song... I guess I've grown quite attached to River Song in the last series! (And I love Donna!)

  • Love the bit at the end!

  • Thank god david tennant is gone - melodrama and jazz hands in every scene, ruined the show.

  • Although she looks down on everyone

  • Spoilers starting to annoy me now. She looks down on tennant as the doctor like she's better than him

  • @ninthdoctorfan The only reason she looks down on The Doctor is because The Doctor taught her everything she knows he just doesn't know it yet because she's his future and he's her past.

  • WOOOT! GOT DAVID T!

  • did anyone else notice the picture of a blond woman and a wolf 0_o

  • @Jammydodgereater Where??

  • @Timelord106 at around 00:51 in the background

  • @Jammydodgereater OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT!

  • @Jammydodgereater Did you notice a tall, cylindrical figure with bubbles on the sides right under the two paintings?

  • Okay......*runs off to turn on the lights* You have successfully terrified me of the dark.

  • Vashta Nerada:Damn no mayo!!! This is BullShit!!!!!

  • TURN THE LIGHTS OFF ON THIS VIDEO MAN LOL

  • God, I hate when River says "he hasn't met me yet," because obviously he just did. It's just that he hasn't met her for HER first time yet. Ugh. So annoying.

  • @dancingfreak94 agreed! And everytime she says spoilers don't you just want to slap her? She is so unappealing. she is unattractive and she has an annoying personality. Generally if someone hired to play a part and they aren't very good-looking the writers are usually smart enough to give the character some sort of pleasing personality. She actually encompasses all the worst traits of the former companions. The whining of Rose and Martha, the bitchiness of Donna and the trashiness of Amy.

  • TENNY!

  • "Every shadow?" "No. But any shadow."

  • 3 people were eaten by the Vashta Nerada.

  • nomnomnomnom im under there :D

  • Hey look its Hammond from Dead Space.

  • Catherine Tate ruined the series

  • Wait, so what's-her-face here marries the doctor when he's older, so that means in her time David aged and never regenerated! THAT FOOL! Because of her David didn't grow older as the Doctor because she altered time and so he had to regenerate :( DAMN YOU!

  • @kingt34 I think what she meant by her 'having' a 'different Doctor' is that she had another Doctor that had regenerated (e.g. it could be Matt Smith now, or the next one - but not David Tennant), rather than an aged David Tennant Doctor.

  • @MrTranceNinja But, she recognises him? oh well I'm too tired to argue lol. I don't mind too much: the scriptwriters for Matt got decent by the christmas special after a not-so-good start :)

  • @kingt34 I figured that was because he had the Sonic Screwdriver and had the flamboyant character of the Doctor; it was obvious to her. But hey, it's all for interpretation after all! And I'd call it a discussion, rather than an argument. ;P

  • @MrTranceNinja yes lol poor choice of words on my end :D and besides I don't see an argument as something that's always bad: It's just a conflict of facts which are compared biasedly to make an un-biased conclusion or something :D (I think I watched the argument clinic Monty Python Sketch too much lol)

  • @kingt34 I'd call an argument a rant of conflicting opinions, which isn't entirely what we're doing, as our ideas are quite similar. But heck. :P

  • one of my favourite episodes :D

  • I miss RTD's writing. And I know this ep is one of Steven Moffat's buuuuut RTD has said before that he did the rewrites for every episode to make sure everything flowed and the characters were genuine. I love Steven for creating River (she could be my favourite character ever) but at the same time I hate him for creating Amy :| Karen Gillen = Gorgeous, funny and talented. Amy = Annoying and too much of a caricature of 'the feisty companion'. *Sigh* Come back David <3

  • It's not the same knowing that River only knows the Doctor as Matt Smith. :')

  • @thecolevideos yeah, sad eh? lol

  • david tennant is way cooler than matt smith

  • The new writers ~dare i say it~ crap.

He focuses more on it being scarey, rather than including the cleaver plots. And don't get me wrong - i ADORE matt smith, but im so used to David being the doctor :'(

  • @falakalak Moffat says that fans like it when Doctor Who gets scary

  • @Furbydude05 Yes, once in a while :/ But not every episode - i want some plot twists! :'(

  • I wish DT and RTD would come back and save the show from mediocrity

  • @philyburkhill1 RTD is still doing SJA and DT might return for the 50th anniversary special in 2013

  • Also, the Vashta Nerada episode of RTD's Doctor Who was written by Steven Moffat.

  • @JadesVidz

I'm only 16! I was introduced to it about two years ago by my grandparents... I'm sorry if I seem shallow but I'm only familiar with the ninth and tenth Doctors. I REALLY got attached to David Tennant's Doctor and I stuck there mentally. Sorry.

  • this was an amazing episode!

  • 0:01

  • @welcome2my2ndlife Grow up <.<

  • "what are you talking about? are you just talking rubbish? do you know him or don't you???" LOL love it :')

  • I miss David Tennant also, though I do think Matt is an excellent doctor. I am in America and finally was able to watch Series 5! He's really good. A madman with a box!

  • David IS THE BEST Doctor !! <3

  • spoilers

  • David was the best doctor! :-)

  • @eviloverlordcaboose Doctor Who is about change. If you cant get to grips with that, then youre clearly not a fan of the show, only its previous lead actor.

This episode was written by the current head writer, and hes a genius.

If you got past the shallowness that your displaying, you might actually realise how fabulous the show is in its current incarnation.

If not, thats fine. Youre ignorance is letting you miss out on what is, without a doubt, the best current show on British telly.

  • @JadesVidz Not every change is a good change.

I watched S5 and the Christmas Special. It feels like it's made to entertain 10 year olds and guys who like Gillan's legs. Not interested anymore.

  • @TessExpelliarmus 10 year olds also watch a lot of the Classic Series of Doctor Who, you know. And RTD's version as well

  • @Furbydude05 Oh yeah, of course. There were Reality Bombs, farting aliens and burping bins. But RTD's era was also about people and in it's centre has a very strong morality. There's a "Don't believe everything the telly says", "Is faith good for people?" or "Fan clubs are great, friends are even better" in every one of his stories. In Moffat's stories, there's usually a innocent kid, a scary monster and in the end, the Doctor makes the monster go away. >> (continue)

  • @Furbydude05 >> (continued) It's great that you like it. Others don't and it has nothing to do with fancying the lead actor. The change of lead actor is just the most obvious change to casual viewers.

  • @Furbydude05 NOT JUST 10 year olds, I do as well and im in my 30s

  • @TessExpelliarmus Really? Because I believe A Christmas Carol was the best xmas special so far. It was intelligent and complex, 10 year olds would have trouble keeping up, just like The Big Bang.

Now I look back at the lousy RTD christmas specials; Clearly aimed at the Lowest Common Denominator. Moffat has storyline behind his incarnation.

  • @JadesVidz The jumping around in time might be funny, but it makes every cliffhanger ridiculous. The Doctor trapped in a cave with Weeping Angels around him? A future version of him can save him! And he wears a fez, hahaha! The Doctor and Amy threatened to be killed by Daleks? A future Doctor can save them! It's lazy storytelling and might seem complicated, but just destroys the drama. Comedy solutions to threads make Moffat's Who seem like a sitcom with way too much budget.
