Lionel Legacy Horn Lever controls a CSX SD40-2

You can notice in the video that I try to do a shave and a haircut 6 bits a few times. With the legacy horn control lever, it has 3 different tones, like you would in a lever controlled horn in a real engine.

The problem with making a shave and a haircut is that unless you use the firt level intesity (the softest) you will get distorted sound between the first and second level of horn. But, its hard to do it as fast as you have to do it without going so far that you hit the second level.

It doesnt sound like todays CSX because it's using a 3 chime horn, not a K5LA. But I love this!

Its realistic, but its not prototypical.

Actually it is, It's a SD40-2, they use K5LAR24, RS3L, P3, P5, RS5TRRO, and alot of other horns, so technically it's perfect due to the fact the horn is also a bit out of tune!

You are correct, but from a common railfanner's POV (Not me) they'd rather have the musical K5L.
