00:21 now i know where the screamin from... on The Game "Wouldn't Get Far" and Common "The People", i used to think this is an bug or something, hahaha
u dont hear the beat at the beginning? and the dude saying "LOUDER" and "YEAH" he uses those in a lot of beats. i always wondered where he got those voice samples from
@iwannafite its in the intro. the first 25 seconds. That's the part that's been sampled by so many in the rap industry. Both the drum beat and even Leslie's vocals have been sampled many times.
@bballano31 and that was during his homage to dilla era..he wanted to make beats that sounded similar to dillas gritty boom bap style..im fenna use it right now to be completey honest..lol
hey depper this is the same as the woodstock recording.... he says his is real and even said you said so and now theres this one which says its off a live album.....so whos right?

I loved this record!!!! A great album to seek out, thanks for posting. There's something about the sound quality on this album--a nice amount of the "room" sound, but still in your face. You can practically smell the pot! The version of Nantucket Sleighride on this record is my all time fave.
I have seen this argument posted before. This album is clearly credited to Corky Laing. Where do you get your information. Just saying it doesnt sound like his style isnt factual.
I have an official bootleg, half is from Woodstock, (the tunes from "The road goes ever on" "Long red", "Waiting to take you away" could very well be those), Crossroader and Nantucket Sleightide is with Corky thats for sure. But ask them if you meet them!
Cool! Oh Im happy you have that Mountain collection, believe me, we have a similar collection and we are on the same side of the fence on our music tastes. I think we can both agree that this is one of the few "mysteries". Mountain's and West albums have historically contained some... typoes :) Must have been those.... herbs ......
The cd, "A man`s world" (from -95?)is in my opinion one of the better records from the 90`s, (good songs, good production, nice guitars, drums and voocals), and again, few people know about it, a damn shame!
Have you tried Monsters of War? Something mystical about watching West do Dylan. That guitar tone and esoteric and dangerous vocal fit Dylans poetic license with wreckless abandon! :)

@EFFOHBEEDBOY
Kanye sampled this track for the following:
'Wouldn't Get Far" - Game
"People" - Common
"This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Remix" - Fall Out Boy
"Barry Bonds" - Kanye West
"The Glory" - Kanye West
Just the "louder" and "yeah"

@concept8407 yep. it was right after Dilla died and he took on Common's "Be" and "Finding Forever" projects and then it effected him in his work.
Good luck with you endeavours.

@EFFOHBEEDBOY Here are some more hip hop tracks that contain the beginning break from this song:
Ugly People Be Quiet
It's My thing
Eric B. 4 President
The Ultimate (look up a rap group called the Artifacts)
...That's pretty much the gist of it.

Yes, of course, I have it..only one, that I know I`m missing is Corky`s "Making it in the street".
drumsanddrumming 2 years ago
only that it was ND Smart who played this, not Corky, but it`s ok, ND was also a good drummer.
drumsanddrumming 2 years ago
Actually, the song is taken from the "Mountain Live" album. Corky Laing is credited with the drums on this particular live take.
depper 2 years ago
Yes, I got that album but the album is a collection of songs, some of the songs are pre-Corky.

I will have to ask this of Leslie, because I have the official woodstock bootleg as well. and im not convinced :)
depper 2 years ago
Do that and let me know.
drumsanddrumming 2 years ago
I certainly will!
depper 2 years ago
For what it`s worth; Wikipedia says that track 1-2 are from Woodstock, 3-4 recorded jan-feb -72. Don`t know how reliable that is.
drumsanddrumming 2 years ago
and furthermore; It`s not Corky`s style either. although, ás I mentioned, ND Smart was good too.

p.s. I have at least 11 LP albums with Mountain/WB&L/Felix Pappalardi and 30 CDs. I`ve been listening to them since -71...
