I LOVE the storyline behind the new games. It's probably the coolest Pokemon storyline since Pokemon Colosseum. But I'm one of those people who hated the designs at first. I was all like, "Really? That's just a dog, that's just a living ice cream cone, that's just a blue duck, and where are all the POKEMON?" But then I realized, "Hey, Ekans and Arbok were just snakes. Geodude was just a living rock. Squirtle was just a blue turtle. And they were all awesome!"

Gen 5 did not kill pokemon!!! For example, they got lazy with the first gen pokemon names like Ekans is "snake" backwards, Arbok is "cobra" backwards and Muk is "cum" backwards. Gen 2 is were I draw the line because Tyranitar is a fucking badass and my name is 2nd gen. red, blue, and yellow had crappy designs, and gold and silver had better graphics + shiny pokemon. And again, not that its a new feature technically, but they have Wi-Fi now, which was an absolute dream come true for anyone who grew up with the originals and thought "man, it'd be awesome if I could trade with my friend in that other state". I agree though, there hasn't been any actual new features since 3rd gen that I can think of. Not saying that's a bad thing, but it's not necessarily a perfectly good thing either.
