So your video was awesome!!! The only thing I am hung up on is when I installed my lcd the brightness adjustment button does not work? How can I get this adjustment back?
@fossL101 Some LCD screens do not allow brightness to be adjusted. It might depend on where you got the LCD screen from, if they sell authentic parts or copies.
Attaching the cable back into the inverter board is harder than it looks in the video. it's located towards the computer - but is kinda hidden. once you physically see it, connecting it is easy. try a tiny bit of extra force when you peel back the cover. makes it easier to see what's going on. i'm writing this because i experienced the same "black screen" problem several time. Ultimately, I located the plug and connected the monitor successfully.
@MrSoftEffects It probably means the inverter board (little white plug in the video) did not get connected, or it is in backwards. If it is connected correctly, you may have a bad screen.
some of the little clips that hold the white border came out and i cant get them back in. ( i just opened it to clean everywhere since i just bought it used) do you know where i can get some more clips because i broke some of them trying to get them back in and now it doest stay secure in some spots
Thank you for this video, I've replaced my screen for about £130 cheaper than I was quoted at the Apple Store.
One problem has arisen though. Every time I go into a different room other than the room with the internet router in, my Mac cannot pick up any wireless signal. Is this problem related to me replacing the screen?
@cmathias247 It could be a problem with the antenna on your laptop. The antenna goes up and around one side of the screen. I would make sure that it is not pinched, broken, or disconnected.
Very helpful video but now my new screen as well as my old screen is black with just the faintest light of the apple visible. I tried reconnecting the new screen five times or more. Can you tell me what's wrong?
@donbuddy333 Sounds like either the inverter board is defective or unplugged. The inverter board provides light to the back of the laptop screen. It can be difficult to get it plugged in well, maybe it is just unplugged. Watch 4:35 again and make sure yours is plugged in well.
My LCD screen replacement was a successful operation because of this tutorial vid. Thanks much for posting it. I did *not* however use a spudger or a grounding strap. I simply planted my feet on a piece of particle board and didn't shift them around during replacement, thus preventing static build up. One of the small screwdrivers worked in lieu of the spudger. Very helpful vid, though. Thanks again.
Brilliant.... tutorial , Saved a lot as service centre quote me £ 200 all including and 7 days waiting for the same . by this i manage to fix it in couple of hour by myself & easily find new screen on ebay fantastic .Thank's for this post.
