  • Glory days in San Antonio-yes! been there-done that. My-Our-Glory days were at the Poteet Strawberry Festival in the late 80's-early 90's at the Strawberry City Saloon jammin' to Culturas-La Sombra-La Fiebre-Mazz.....I can go on and on and on...thats when music meant something and you knew who you were and were proud of it.....Regardless!!!!!

  • Oh, do I miss those glory days of Tejano music and San Antonio. Most fun times I ever had. Everybody LOVED Culturas as well as all the other wonderful bands. Nights at Fiesta dancing to La Charanga, Rosedale Park and Tejano nights, Hometown Boys, Ram, David Lee, Emilio, Shelly, and of course Selena. Tejano music really transformed the whole scene, and I loved every minute of it. KXTN radio was all I listened to back then. Yes, bring back Tejano!

  • Wow what a performance!! come on people get hip to tejano its our music lets keep it alive

  • I wanna be a tejano artist! :) lol

  • hahhahahaha that lady made mii dad dance even if he did'nt want to................hahahha

  • Love-it! Beautiful flashbacks! Awesome ensemble!

  • That's my Boy Johnny G. from San Angelo, Texas on the acordian! He is one of the best to ever play that box and probably the best musician to come out of San Angelo. He was probably 17 in this video. Amazing! You go Johnny!

  • i'll make all the noise ke puedo con el negro. lol j/k i had a big crush on him when i was younger.

  • DAMN. SHES FINE. WITH A FIRME VOICE. PURO TEJANO. MUSIC SUCKS TODAY. IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH. BUNCH OF GARBAGE COMING OUT..

  • man, what the hell happened to Tejano music?? Who killed it, here in west Texas we are subjected to listening to Mierdanguense music, if you can call it music. Sure miss Tejano!

  • @millerbluedeuce WETBACKS PROMOTERS LIKE SERVANDO CANO BRINGING THEIR BULLSHIT NOISE HERE TO TEXAS & PEOPLE LIKE THAT DUMBASS GAVACHO RUNNING UNIVISION ARE WHAT HURT TEJANO MUSIC. WE NEED THAT ARIZONA LAW HERE IN TEXAS!! SEND THE CHUNTARO'S PACKIN!! THESE "PEOPLE" ( S. CANO & UNIVISION ) ARE THE REASON WE HAVE MIERDANGUENSE BANDS PLAYING TEJANO DAY AT THE RODEO!! THEY CAN SLOW TEJANO MUSIC, BUT THEY WILL NEVER KILL IT!!!

  • @kyhecnico amen brother, I remember a tribute show to Selena a couple years back and damn if they didn't have that piece of shit band Montez de Durango playing on it, that shit pissed me off!! I live in Odessa, Tx I don't mind the good norteño bands every once in a while, Tigres, Invasores...but mostly I listen to country sisnce it's the closes we have to tejano... our only tejano station is on a.m. and it sounds like shit plus they play the same stuff we would hear back in the 90's.

  • @kyhecnico well they aint going NOWHERE LMFAO there is nothing wrong with the "noise" you say i am not a wetback my dad is like the biggest tejano fan ever but i love durangense/banda/norteno i grew up listening to tejano i am not into i dont mind listening to it but that all they are going to play now so get over and quit talking shit

  • @marimar8407 I DON'T KNOW YOU...DID NOT CALL YOU A WETBACK, SO "YOU" GET OVER IT!!! EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO THEIR OWN OPINION QUE NO? I, ALONG WITH ALOT OF OTHER DIE-HARD TEJANOS FEEL THE SAME WAY!! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT & NOTHING WRONG WITH VOICING AN OPINION. I'M NOT TALKING "SHIT", I'M JUST STATING FACT!! NOW HAVE A BLESSED DAY & CHILL OUT!! PEACE!!

  • Damn she's hot

  • Trust me, she isn't trying to be like anyone. She & the band were all about performing as a band, a group. Their shows were about performance and fun. That's why they were recognized for there performance and showmanship. They were awesome to watch. Selena was / is in a class all by herself.

  • God Bless all this talent. To compare anyone to another just doesn't fly. This group is a show band and they do it very well...........Just enjoy , they were the ones that practiced everyday.......

  • did someone say she wanted to be like selena. these songs were out before selena was in tejano scene. so if some one said that estan malo del culo. : )

  • V Yanez ??? You wouldn't happen to know Tio Bert?

  • from where

  • Guess you're not my niece. I have a niece that's a V Yanez in Texas

  • @vyanez08 THESE SONGS WRENT OUT BEFORE SELENA WAS IN THE TEJANO SCENE.

  • como la flor 1993 golpe traidor 1993 about the same time.

  • It's ashamed this genre of Latin music has faded into the background. In my opinion, I think it was a saturation of certain artists on the airways and television, thus the implosion of this genre. Not to take away from their talents, but the saturation didn't allow for the rise and full potention of great talents like this band.

  • Well said.........Guero Alegre

  • What the hell? When I saw the pic for this vid before I clicked on it I swore it was Selena......this woman can never touch selena neither in looks, voice or dancing, and she acts weird.......she should find her own look and her own vocal style....stop trying to be Selena!

  • Where can i find their CD or the mp3 for Loco Loco?

  • Dang i remember wen tejano was the big thing i grew up listening to this kind of music. i still remember playin wit my dads band . i was like 4 and i loved playing this music. this new music that came out has nothing on tejano one of the best show band i saw wen i was yonger still loven it and still a tejano heart in houston tx. • Yo Dee !! SUP man !!! Loved your music..So when are you going to get the band back togeather again ??????

  • okay, okay...enough fighting.

this is dee (yes, of culturas). i just hijacked my daughter's account and saw all the comments. i can't believe that people are still commenting on something that happened over ten years ago. aaayyy, raza!!!

let it go all ready. but, thanks for remembering. right now, i'm doing documentaries on indigenous peoples in alaska and here in colorado. interesting tales. well, folks...i'm outta here. cassie...stop trying to defend me. you know i've had a great life.

  • This is Awsome...I seen these guys in Ft Worth TX. at Marine Park about 20 years ago it seems. I like them then and I think there Tajano is Timeless...So, tell me " Did the band Brake up cause Delia wanted to be the next Slena ? "

  • Hey da last post is correct. I'm Mikey da bass player of the original Culturas. And yes Andy was always walking around sayong "Ba BA Dice" those were da daze!

  • What ever happened to this group?

  • you go boy!!! thats my uncle on the squeeze box straight outa san angelo texas baby!!!

  • Hey just because your Chicano doesn't mean that there are a lot of Chicanos that come from Mexican backgrounds... Yeah we might have different taste in music but because of Tejano all the other Mexican music came to be popular... I mean don't get me wrong I love the Mexican music and I am from Mexican parents and I love Tejano... But just a piece of advice... Don't insult the taste of other viewers... If you don't like it then don't watch it... Simple as that! Good day!

  • It's sad to know Tejano isn't as popular as it used to be when Selena was still a live.

  • omg omg omg omg omg

  • being from monterrey,y love norteno, and when i arrive to texas,i didnt like texano at all,but slowly i come to love it,selena did a good and bad thing, she come to be too big for the genre,i feel bad about, norteno and cumbia geting over tejano on many places,i hope tejano comes to a very good rank not just in texas but every were,in monterrey they love tejano, but its sending to many nortenos and cumbieros to usa, long life to la onda, excuse my english,i love tejano

  • Tejano slowly but surely is dying out. Sad but true.

  • I agree. With Selena's untimely death, Tejano took a real bad beating. No one was ever able to pick it up as much as she did. After she was gone there was no more competition or advancements in the music and sound. Jennifer Pena hasn't (in my honest opinion done much for the style of music)like Elsa Garcia, Selena, Elida, and Delia have. Also, I've noticed that all sort of different types of music and styles are being merged which (not all the time) tends to take away from that ....

  • which is raw Tejano. Don't get me wrong, it's good to bring in new beats and rhythms (AB Quintanilla and Pete Astudillo did that and made wonderful music), but not to the point that Tejano loses its identity and sort of becomes a spectacle instead of a celebration of Tejano life and culture (ie: the new Tejano fusion going on with the rap music and neon colored outfits, kinda like Rudy y Los Nuevos Huevos Rancheros from Born in East L.A.)

  • okay bro u didn hav 2say that. think of all the kids that watch this. this gives them no confidence to keep Tejano Strong nd Alive.

  • Tejano is kicking big time in mexico. it is number one in Monterrey , they call it Texano

  • nice performance!

  • Excellent

  • yes thet do rock and they are gonna be in san antonio for fiesta both D and Delia im gonna be there its gonna be badass

  • yes thet do rock and they are gonna be in san antonio for fiesta both D and Delia im gonna be there its gonna be badass

  • Oh my God! I remember this, I loved Culturas! How could I forget this band? They were so awesome. Thanks for posting this! <3

  • wow where are these good musicians at now? this song is the sh*t. so beautiful. delia rocked it. they should really play again.where did they go?

  • well they kinda stopped. the bad isnt around anymore.Dee is my dad and i always ask him y he doesnt get the group back together but he just said that he was finished. lol he said he was getting old. well yea. im seriously not lying. when i was younger maybe around 6-12? they would practice downstairs while i was trying to sleep. its weird considering my dad a star cuz he is just my dad to me. im not lying ppl. his name is Dee Burleson and my name is Cassandra Burleson. we live in CO now.

  • U say it annoys you mamon...so you dont respect that fact that people like it. Stop ur BS.

  • Name calling on the internet, aren't we tough!

  • I like to thinks so on the street too.

  • i love this group. they are so awesome if you just like good old tejano. come on? a black guy singing and a hot babe lead singer? este groupo es una pinche VERGA

  • alguien me puede desir que paso con estos vatos

  • one of the BEST grupos of there time

  • Thanks for posting the video clip. It gives an insight for those that didn't get to go see the performance ;-) Norma from Houston!

  • Well Norma...I hope you got a chance to see us a couple of times....

    J

  • really great video

  • Tejanos have no color you could be a white tejano black, asian etc. Just check out Billy the white dude in David Lee's band he is a hell of singer spanish or english,or the Texas Tornados. We are all from Texas and love Texas music, and tex-mex food.

  • Billy O and Kevin both played in the same band here in San Angelo, I got the chance to play along side Kevin....it was a little after Billy left for san Antonio.

  • "Hey David Who's That Gringo...

Standing up there on the stage

Did you hear that singing gringo

And that Ramon Ayala song he sang..."

  • today is my first day to see a performance of theirs - man what a voice! :D Good show too considering it's from the 90s...I think that's missing from some of the Tejano acts that go on now - fun show :D

  • para mi el tejano son las polkitas viejitas , el bajo 6, guitarra y acordeon, todas esas cosas de cumbia son un asco.

  • there was a time when tejano music more about music than scantily dressed women and boy bands. delia, dee y culturas, laura canales, jay perez, selena, david lee garza, and so many others like them were proof that you didnt need to prance around showing ur naughty bits to the audience or take ur shirts off to make the teenage girls scream to be good tejano musicians. hopefully, the new generation can get back to the days when talent and effort made music.

  • What an awesome vid. :)

  • Maaan! That dude said Raza and Orale .Beautiful vid. I remember watching them on Johnny Canales back in the day. Loco loco! LOL That was my favorite jam. Even my tia who was white was Jammin to Tejano music back in the day. Hey baby que paso by texas tornados was her fav jam. It gives me chills to see people from other cultures being influenced by our culture like the black dude from culturas.

  • wow all i can say is wow, i seen them this weekend in vegas.. for the tejano convention in vegas and let me tell you all the put a hell of a show on, i have always been a big fan of delia never heard her with dee before i didnt think i was going to like it but ... i sure ate my own words..

    they were amazing..

    best band all weekend..

i wish the best to to the both of them.

    VIVA DELIA AND DEE

  • pongan mas videos de culturas porfa.

  • Culturas--Dee & Delia--broke up the band way too soon. In my opinion, they were on the verge of being one of the biggest Tejano bands in the world.

  • i agree. i told him that but he said, oh well. i was like....wtf dad!

we could be rich right now and he said it wasnt about the money. i was glas he said that but yea...lol

  • Man what happened to all of these awesome Tejano bands? This and so many others I would like to see them performing again.

    Great video by the way.

  • go ricky

  • Culturas!!!

  • I saw them back in '94.

Good music, Alot of people we're surprised with the black guy.

  • Remember "El Charro Negro", Bobby Butler. He was a hell of a singer. Happy to see different cultures enjoying the same music

  • I remember this song very well,thanks .I love it . Puro Tejano .

  • maryroaten, yes, yes our music keeps evolving which it is the way it must be and I am damn proud our new generation of singers and music .

  • Tejano, I love the fact the blacks and mexicans can be on the same stage singing the same music.

  • In my part of the world the Afro-Americans they used to go to their cantinas and we to them .Old School dancers in Sinton ,Louis(luis) and Willie . They still do .The speak spanish .They lived in our barrio and were influenced by our proud and beautiful music .Viva los TEJANOS Y TEJANAS .

  • LOL, I think a lot of people were surprised by the black guy. but never discriminated, just glad he loved the music and he also made great music!!!

  • Does anyone happen to know what either Dee or Delia are doing now? Do either of them have a myspace page? You're right about them being the "it" band in the days...it would be really nice to see them back in action again.

  • They are getting back together for the Tejano Showcase in Vegas sometime in the middle of August

  • Excelente Video del grupo Culturas, es lo mejor que he visto en mi vida,

    Gracias por compartir este video

  • As Dee puts it....He's a black man from San Antonio.

He is African American. Many thought he was Cuban or some other latino...but nope ....

  • Culturas was a high energy band and could really entertain a crowd. Tejano music misses them and their style.

    Thanks for posting the viedo

  • These guys were defintely it back then. I heard the are working on a cd together and possibly getting back together. Great video, I would like to add it to my collection for get togethers and partys.

  • my parents met them 1 time! i love these 2 songs

    whats the name of them?

  • Delia sings- Damelo (Intro) then Golpe Traidor

    Dee sings- Loco Loco

  • is that gilbert escivel at the beginning, lol? but yeah culturas was the bomb...BUBBA DICE, BUBBA DICE!

  • Yeah, he was pretty cool to hang out with..we had a blast there in Vegas. BUBBA DICE BUBBA DICE! LOL!

  • do you want to hear the story how they came up with the title baba dice. well i'm andy bernals daughter and when i was around 2 i use to go around saying baba dice all the time so before you knew everyone in the band would say it, so thats how they came up with the album name.

  • your Andy's daughter?!

This is Cassie. I'm Dee Burleson's daughter.

Whats your dad been up too?

I havent seen everyone is such a long time.

Does he still keep in touch with Roger? How is he?

lol...sorry for all the questions. It was just nice to see someone who actually KNOWS them and not just some fan. lol.

email me back and ill give u my email address.

  • You're a stupid little girl, Cassie, for making fun of your dad's fans..."KNOWS them and not just some fan. lol" What is the matter with you. If it wasn't for the fans lining your father's pockets with the money they paid to see Culturas shows, he wouldn't have squat. If he is not working right now I'd have to say that is KARMA screaming to bite your dad in the ass for YOUR dumb comment. I actually LIKED Culturas but your diarrhea mouth is a sure turnoff. I hope your dad reads this and posts

  • excuse me but i was NOT talking to you. I get that there are millions of people who listened and STILL listen to Culturas. I also understand that the BAND made money from the fans. He actually has many other jobs so...no. Even if Culturas was never around, he would still have money bitch. Dont EVER say that he wouldnt have "squat" if it wasnt for the fans. I am not making fun of the fans. I was talking to Andy's daughter because she KNEW THEM ON A PERSONAL LEVEL unlike YOU.

  • Very nice, Cassie. I applaud your response. You have just shown everyone how intelligent you are online. I get that you were not talking to me in particular, but you made your IDIOT comment in a VERY public arena where everyone could SEE your comment. Did you think no one would ever see it and take it as an insult? U should have carried your conversation in a private email. Wow and you scream intelligence and tact by calling me a "bitch"; I was actually a huge fan of Culturas.

  • And Cassie, you're not as smart as you think you are. I called you stupid and told you that you have a diarrhea mouth and you just keep crapping out of it, I guess with your "bitch" comment. Oh well, I guess negritas never learn. Like that one? ;-)

  • wow. nice one. i love how you insult my intelligence. I know that calling you a 'bitch' was not very civil but when you specifically insult my father, saying "If it wasn't for the fans lining your father's pockets with the money they paid to see Culturas shows, he wouldn't have squat" I will get upset. It really pissed me off because you make it seem as if he is only good for his voice and nothing else. Calling you a 'bitch' doesn't nearly convey the words i would like to say to you.

  • I do insult your intelligence bcs it was not very bright of you to insult a fan. As far as you calling me a bitch, I expect that from PEOPLE like you; that's a favorite word of your kind.

  • I also would like to congratulate you on your racism. Good Job.

  • I am not racist; just tell the truth. You are black just like I am Mexican-American. But since you go there, you don't even know what a bitch is and you evidently feel comfortable going into a public arena and call me that. I do agree that your father has an excellent voice and you're right, I do not know anything else that he does and it's none of my business and I do not care but when you insult his group's fans, that's something entirely different. I took it personally and I am not sorry.
