Iain Abernethy!!! thank you.! someone else sees a great bunkai expert too. there is so much crap on youtube, that really is giving karate a bad name. These vids by shotokanunleashed are pretty good, but yeah Iain Abernethy is who people need to read up on.
This is a perfectly good bunkai. But for a treasure trove of magnificent bunkai, take a look at Iain Abernethy's videos, Bunkai-Jutsu. He takes the Pinan/Heian katas and makes them make perfect sense as real world self defense techniques against commonly encountered forms of ordinary aggression (grabs, hook punches and roundhouses, chokes, and head butts, as opposed to a punch executed out of a deep stance from 20 feet away).
