Jussi! Enligt många omröstningar bland både musikkritiker och "vanligt folk",den Störste Sångare som någonsin funnits. En röst med överjordisk skönhet, tekniskt fulländad, en röst som inte lämnar någon oberörd. Jussis själ går hela tiden ut i rösten och därför blir den aldrig tråkig att lyssna på, till skillnad från flera andra sångare. Jag önskar att många fler skulle upptäcka vilken Diamant som föddes i Borlänge för 100 år sedan!

@halavey - I think Jussi B was imitating Richard Tauber here by ending on a high note so delicately, that was R. Tauber's trademark, a very nice touch by any singer.

Jussi Bjorling was so popular on wartime radio in England, but not much is heard of him now. He offered something different to the Italian tenors and had, I think, an astonishingly beautiful tone.

@tomasperry - Not to worry, Bjorling is remembered through his recordings and it's a great privilege for us to have them so many decades later. You're right about his singing being a different influence, a very charming one indeed.

Yes, Jussi spoils us rotten. But listening to him live must have been an even greater treat! Victoria de los Angeles was particularly appreciative of Björling's unique talent. In de los Ángeles' biography by Peter Roberts, de los Ángeles noted that "in despite of technical developments, none of the Jussi Björling recordings give you the true sound of his voice. It was a far, far more beautiful voice than you can hear on the recordings he left".
