The main diff. is that almost everyone in the modernized world can access information about the conflicts that are going on. But, I am not sure that there are more conflicts happening. Generally I think the world is more moral now than it was...but i might be wrong.

I wouldn't say there's necessarily more conflict, but conflict has become more "sophisticated," we've developed ways to make the business of killing more efficient rather than working towards eliminating it. It's like their fears of the direction society was moving towards are not only coming true, but in ways they couldn't even imagine back in their day. But it's not all hopeless, "if only angels can get organized along the lines of the mafia."
