  • I was an expert on this game with the exception of the jacquio battle. I always needed the spinning blade whirl to beat him. You beat him without it. I yield to your superior talent. I am impressed

  • This takes me way back - I remember how hard the game was, how proud I was for beating it, and all those times that the NES froze. Thanks for posting.

  • LOL! The NES froze!

  • my bad i just notice you do get full bar with the last boss lol

  • @Baby1086 not only the last boss...every boss, hax!

  • lol u did well , But i saw what happen with the final boss u only had one bar when u reashed the final boss and then u enter the room u had full bar , if i remember every time u reached a boss u always stay with the same health u got to the boss with lol you still did good

  • @Baby1086 yeah but his score was exactly the same, can't ague with that.

  • This is one of the hardest games I´ve ever played!!! And You Finished whitout losing a single life!!! AMAZING MAN!!! AMAZING!!!! Shame at the end!!!!... game Frozen... Finger up!!!!!!

  • Like a fucking boss!!

  • The five people who disliked this are the same people who designed this mind fuck of a game and are just pissed that someone actually finished it with such finesse.

  • I remember beating this game as a kid... years of playing and you made it look like you can do it with only one hand. Good shit.

  • That part at 0:12 used to drive me insane and the part @ 3:33 used to make me lose my ever loving mind!

This guy is the shit! Most impressive thing I've ever seen on any NES game!

  • You should have said "What the ....!" after the game froze.

  • ryu with short hair... disturbing...

  • Dude, i'm 32, i spent the greater majority of my youth driving myself to the point of utter INSANITY on this game. Watching this video... is probably of the greatest and equally most depressing things i've ever seen.

  • @lostsurf311 he did it in 18 minutes the whole game....

  • epic ending hahahahahahaha always had to freeze

  • The part where it crashed gave me an idea for some character.

  • 3:06 I bet you crapped your pants

  • You used NEStopia?

  • ninja's fingers....

  • lol.

what version of this game are you playing ?

in the last stage enemy hits deal only 1 damage ? that is ridiculous.

  • Kudos to you man. I finally beat this for the first time in my life just the other night, but def not without dying, ha, maybe someday.

  • lol !!! what happened in the final part !! the final historyy nooo! LOL!

  • You, my friend, are a gaming god for beating Ninja Gaiden in 20 minutes without death.

  • oh boy.. you deserves a cold one!

  • 9:30 jajajaajaj that brings me back!!!

  • neat you are a ninja gaiden legend dude

  • 3:26 to 3:38 is the trickiest 12 seconds in all of video game history.

  • "No Way" XD the ending was priceless

  • Awesome job man, working on my own no death run of this game at the moment and nice to see it is not impossible to pull off. (Well I knew it was not impossible, but it is a pain to die in stage 5-3 or 6-2 and have to restart all the way from the beginning. You die, you go back style. ;P

  • i can't even beat the 4-3 boss but since i just watched this i think ill pass on with my life without even trying to beat this hard game but its a classic sidescrolling action game though.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHA EPIC ending Lugi! im glad i watched it all the way through!!!!

  • The end was holarious! I remember those days. This was one of the best games ever made for nes.

  • I bow before thee.

  • the end was very funny

  • @furyp100

Yes, very funny when you thought you had completed the game. And then comes a new boss. 13 times.

  • @TheNauriainen

sorry. just watched it to real end. that WAS funny.

  • LOL!!!! THE END WAS EPIC!!!!

  • Awesome fucking job, dude! I found it extremely rewarding to master these gaiden games. When you run through everything just feels right hahahahaha!

Fuck this. I'm grabbing my NES right now.

  • The last part was sad :(

  • NES games were more often torture than fun

  • No Way! ;D

  • You, sir, are a FLIPPIN' ninja

  • this guy is a good ninja

  • hey, you can catch a fan helix with your thumbs?

  • Ah yes, the classic freezing Nintendo in the middle of a game. Sweet horrible nostalgia

  • I WANT MY SPOILERS. :C

  • love the ending :)

  • Best ending ever.

  • haha. classic nintendo. happened with alot of games, i tell ya that much

  • 9:30 epic ending lol

  • U died @ 4:50

  • That game is really hard... I needed 3 hours to finish it WITH saving states! O.O

    You're amazing!

  • You are a video gaming god.

  • I posted a video response, which is basically the same thing as your video. The main difference is just the style of play; mine is I think more methodical. For example, I am more strategic about which weapon I'm holding at any given time. In particular, I have the spin attack for most of the game, which enables me to kill most bosses with one or two hits. Also, check out my strategies against the last two bosses.

  • ryu looks ridiculous with this hair

  • Lol. Ending fail. That's why I download these games onto my Wii to save the trouble.

  • 0:10 That part cause HOURS of rage when I was a little kid.

  • hey i need help on 6-3, i have no weapons and the bosses fireballs are impossible to dodge do you have any advice cuz im playing it on psp using an emulator

  • I just realized how great an ending this was back in the day. You're playing, enjoying the story, you just beat three terribly hard boss battles IN A ROW, and then you're treated to the stories climax, the fortress collapses, and the story winds down. In your typical nes game, you see a background, credits roll, staff thanks you for playing. Balls.

    Ninja Gaiden was great!

  • Decided to pick this game up for the first time and it does indeed live up to its legendary difficulty.

For those who don't know or are skeptical, this video is legit.

When you get to the final boss for the first time, your health is regenerated. After you beat the first form, your health is again regenerated.

However if you die, when you return to the boss (regardless of continues) your health will not regenerate and you will return to the form of the boss you died on.

  • @nonsenseteam

    (continuing from my first post)

    So AVGN exaggerates this slightly.

However despite this fact, this game is still so hard your face will melt off.

    Also, @DirkDigglerLuv01

If the bosses flames touch you, they do one bar of damage.

If the boss himself touches you, it does three bars of damage.

  • While he is good, he still IS cheating. Not because his health replenishes when he fights bosses, I honestly don't remember whether it does or not. He is cheating because on the final level/final bosses one single hit from them takes away FOUR energy bars! I KNOW this for a fact. He is clearly getting hit multiple times and losing only one bar of energy each time. PWNED!

  • @DirkDigglerLuv01 You may not know this, but his video clearly shows the final boss doing 4 bars of damage to him. Your memory might be a bit fuzzy as it looks like his PROJECTILES deal 1 damage while DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE BOSS deals 4.

  • I don't care. This is awesome...got past where me and y brother did so long ago. My bro got to the last boss. But, we grinded it out. We didn't realize the dynamics of the program so we kept fighting all the shit. Long, brutal, but we have the memories for it. Thank you for posting this. In fact, I (we) beat Iron Tank as 30 year olds in 2 hours a few years back. With Nintendo, we got lost in the legend and didn't look for time/screen exploits.

  • Thank god it didn't freeze earlier.

  • Wonderfully played!

  • brilliant ending! lol!

  • @moonlightaffairs We know so well how the AVGN would react!

  • has to be the best ninja gaiden game ever

  • Oh! That's how you beat the boss at 1:46

  • Aw, your NES sucks! (laments the olden days of that happening to him)

  • Awesome play! One of the best famicom ninja gaiden video I've watched. Don't worry about people calling you cheat or fake or whatever. I'm certain those people never got past stage 5. =) Though I do remember playing this @ arcade as kid, HP never refilled between stages, period. Would love to see you make videos of "Strider Hiryu" or Shinobi on Hardest setting with fast bullets.

  • ninjas on jetpacks, linebackers and sergeant slaugther with a belt fed machine gun all in the first minute

    aint nothing wrong with that

  • I wonder how many viewers are here because of the Angry Video Game Nerd.

  • FAKE he used save states hence his health being 100% for the final bosses. Plus he used the "glitch" move to prevent that white enemy from spawning in last level.

  • @Xienis I just played this game on a console, my health was filled between every boss fight / level. Try it yourselfl before attacking people.

The other option is, things are different between versions. arcade, famicom, nes, european, etc.

  • Crash FTW. but great run! Congrats!

  • Man, I wish you would have let the cut-scenes play. Sucks that you didn't. Nice playing, though. That's some serious NES mastery there.

Also, the people talking about you cheating are total idiots really showing their asses.

The end was funny. Just a few seconds less and it'd have ruined the whole thing!

  • Man, I wish you would have let the cut-scenes play. Sucks that you didn't. Nice playing, though. That's some serious NES mastery there.

  • You've got skills, dude! Great job!

  • FAKE HEALTH DOESNT REGAIN ON LAST 3 BOSSES

  • dude awesome job i loved this game for the NES and i have it still its pretty hard even it it is a emulator or if u downloaded from the wii its stll pretty intense have you played the PS3 versions OH MAN I LOVE THAT LAST PART NO WAY I REMEMBER THAT ALWAYS HAPPEND TO ME WHEN I FOUGHT A HARD BOSS!! but good vid :D

  • Some of the most intense close calls had my feet sweating. But an awesome classic either way.

  • Oh my god!!!! It froze!!! It freaking FROZE!!!! I hate the NES just for doing that!!!! I was just waiting to listen to the 4-2 bgm at the end and it froze... dam nes, but you did it great, i actually take longer to beat it with one life, because i like to take almost all items in the game to get more points X3

  • Awesome . Takes me back to watching my best friend beat it.

My only critique. I wish you would have left the story scenes in.

  • O melhor é o final!

  • no dude you cheat how the hell did you walk in the door to the last three bosses and have one unit of life go in door and have full life and for future refrence use jump in slash especially on the dogs you kill the real one as you walk in door

  • @Nina7PukeFace You're not the first person to say this so I thought I would make a quick video response for you.

Your health does indeed fill up as you go in to fight the final boss in stage 6-3.

  • @UltraLuigi I love the logic here.

"hey, this person is actually good. He must be cheating!"

  • @UltraLuigi

It's true your HP is refilled for each of the 3 end bosses. The game would have been simply impossible without it and it's hard enough as it is.

  • @Nina7PukeFace maybe its a regional difference?

  • @Nina7PukeFace c'mon havent you played nintendo before, if anybody is cheating it is the game lol. you see how it had to have the last word by reseting during the final cut scene. Very impressive UltraLuigi Ninja Gaiden has got to be one of the best and hardest NES game of all time. I am glad to see that beating this game is possible

  • @Nina7PukeFace In this game your healthbar refills after a cutscene, in Ninja Gaiden II & III that doesn't happen anymore.

  • @Nina7PukeFace man when i was a kid i counted on that door giving full health for the final boss so its no cheat

  • @Nina7PukeFace You're wrong...;)

  • @Nina7PukeFace

Lol obviously never played Ninja Gaiden before

  • @Nina7PukeFace You should actually play the game before accusing others of cheating. The live bar refills completely the FIRST time you fight any boss, as does the time. As such he did not cheat.

  • the game was like omfgwtfbbq no1 can beat my game so im crashing it.

  • This game is so stressful, that watching the video gives me fear.

  • i love ninja gaiden :D <3

  • You great man! I got this (no death) once, when you tube didn't exist...

    Congrats!

  • What A funny ending!!!!

  • Amazing for your playthrough--incredible fail for your nes at the end. . .

There would be many holes in my wall at my house if that happened to me. . .

  • wow...imagine the game crashing in the middle of the last fight for someone who spent hours reaching the demon, lol. great run, your attack timing is unreal.

  • I was so pleased to see you play this entire game, and I was on the edge of my seat. My mom and I used to play it when I was a kid and only ONCE got to the statue at the end, but never beat it. You had some close calls, but that was great!!!!!!

  • I can't believe I watched that whole thing, but I had to see someone beat those levels that I never could as a kid. I can't believe the flippin' thing froze at the end. Hahaha. Good old ass technology!

  • lol, 1 hp before last boss? :D

  • how in the hell did you do this? i spent countless hours trying to beat this game. i thought it was impossible. great job!!

  • How did you get replenished health on the first boss in level 6? You go in with maybe one bar, but it's full health when you spawn into the room.

  • WTH! Did the game freeze at the end??

  • Well played man

  • Nice. I can't believe you beat the 2nd final boss one shot...!

  • God I hate those dumb birds

  • so this is all played in one session without savestates? :o

The funny thing is that this speedrun gamestyle seems to be the way this game is meant to be played. If you mess around to much with enemies you get into unnecessary trouble. Its just about getting forward. Best example for that is the part at 1:08

  • @baioken I didn't use an emulator. I would have to agree with you that it's a lot easier as you try to advance as quickly as possible.

There's some other NES games that I have played are similar in that way. Say Kung Fu for example. Run on through!

  • wow , you came close to dying at times but always pulled through, nice run, in the last fight, i destroy the demons tail first, then the head, that way after the head comes off you can kill his core and only have to dodge the things flying from above,

  • @baioken yeah, run your ass off or shit starts multiplying, like aids.

  • @baioken he is not using an emulator look at the video quality its all recorded on VHS

  • @carloz957

I guess you are right, thats incredible skill

  • @carloz957 plus the games freezes up at the ending - standard NES console "feature"

  • @baioken look at how the ninja feet are moving, sure it's meant to be played that way :P

  • Great and a funny ending. :D

  • what is up with nintendo and their love of aliens for final bosses?

  • Your health does refresh at each boss. Including the SNES trilogy version. Which plays exactly the same with glitches and all.

  • AWESOME YOU ARE A GOOD PLAYER

  • this game is a terrible NIGHTMARE.

  • What the hell kind of final boss attack is that?

  • unbelievable

  • Lol....That same shit happened when i beat Ninja Gaiden 3........Luckily I had beaten it b4 or i would have been Piiiiiiiised.

  • very impressive great work

  • LOL the game still owns you after you beat it. Always wondered how this game ended. Didn't have the patience.

  • damn that sucks BALLS that it froze

i would of went ape shit

  • I could never get past that first of three ending bosses. This video kinda pisses me off because you made it look so easy. Every time I died on that boss, I would be pushed back 3 levels. Loved the ending though.

  • Man, you made that stuff look easy! Surely you must be a ninja??

Besides, I love how you just go apeshit after beating bosses! Very nice touch...

    And the ending was epic!

  • I thought from 6-3 to 6-4 boss fights you don't get healed. Well thats at least what AVGN said in his latest vid. If thats so he went from 1 bar of life to full in the video.

  • Comment removed

  • @ram8704

    I agree..

  • ah ha very true.

  • Comment removed

  • i just played to the first form of the last boss and got fully healed. could be that there are different revisions of the cartridge?

  • That is highly possible...now I have the urge to verify this myself...

  • they do heal you between bosses they just take away your item

  • not in the original NES one they don't

  • Comment removed

  • Mine does and even the SNES remake I have.

  • I agree with you, in mine, when I go to the boss and I only have one bar left... I'm fucked, because they didn't refresh it.

  • @Zuranthus the first time through they do, but if you die each attempt after that will be made with the same health you use on the level

  • @ram8704

Your life is healed when you fight your father, Jaquio and the demon on after another, but if you fight your father and lost with Jaquio, you don't get healed next time you get with Jaquio. The same happens with the demon. Damn, ultraluigi is a very good player!!!

  • @ram8704 not everything avgn says is true. For example, he said that when you die, your ammo resets. Your ammo is halved when you die, not set to 0.

  • @tehQED ahh I see.

  • @ram8704 I think that's only when you die and have to start over.

  • @ram8704 If you watch it closely you can see that he's actually complaining about the health bar not refilling in between final boss 1 and 2. When he zooms in on the HP bar it is the second last boss he's fighting.

  • @ram8704 oh you remember the name of that avgn video? i'm really looking for it,though i dont know the title

  • from what you can see it's easy to deduct that mostly you don't die because your life ran out(except for the 2nd form of the final boss) but that some asshole hit you during a jump and you fell into a pit. So the key is developing (like this good man right here) a skill to when to slash during jump, how to control the jump and memorising most of the enemies patterns...

    Still: kudos to you UltraLuigi

  • How come people don't break the tail on the final boss. Every run I see no one does it.

  • Man this guy must be part anddroid..

You can really tell he put on the caution lights when he hit that 2nd final boss. The 3rd final boss sure is cake compared to the 2nd.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, look at it this way... it could have happened DURING the last boss fight ;)

  • 1:35 He seemed me to easy for being one of the principal bosses...

  • Level 6 is madness... I got killed by the first boss and got to play the damn shiet all over again.. :) is frustrating. Think ill just let the NES be on for tonight and try again tomorrow. :P

  • Impressive!

    Great job! :-)

  • I never beat this game as a kid. In fact, I don't think I ever even got past one of the levels from part one. So for me, this was pretty sweet to see. That's some legendary play.

  • wow, i was only moderately impressed with you for the first several levels cause it seemed like you were taking BS hits that a good player shouldn't take (dunno if you were just going for speed or what) but the ease with which you dispatched ryu's father, and then jaquio, and then the demon were ridiculous. NICE JOB!!! you made that look too damn easy (and this is coming from someone who has beaten the game multiple times)

  • When I was a kid, my uncle, who worked with vending machines and arcade games, surprised me on Christmas with Ninja Gaiden Arcade for my home. I was probably 9 years old. I'm fairly certain that single experience is the reason I still play video games to this day.

  • It's interesting, because according to one of the game's artists, the starting over at the beginning after dying on the final boss was actually a programming error, but after discovering it they thought it wasn't too bad and decided to keep it.

  • Yeah man...this game was an FN' nightmare!!! I remember having to go back 3 GD levels after the father kicked my ass!!! But it ended up being one of my all time favorites. great run and vid

  • XD HAHAHA that was funny, the game pwned you at the end LOL XD

    Gj, good vid

  • I have three distinct memories of this game:

    1. Getting to the third floor of 6-2 and throwing my controller in hatred.

    2. Finally beating 6-2 one day, then dieing at the boss and having to start over.

    3. Finally beating the entire game and doing one of the hardest fist pumps I've ever done. :)

  • i'll get hate for this, but part 1 is a horrid game! i mean, there's parts in this game where you just have to accept getting hit. that's not fun! do yourself a favor; skip this one and move on to parts 2 and 3.

  • gonna have to disagree here, if you're good enough, there's only 1 spot in the game where you have no choice but to take hits and that's the boss fight with malth. you can't dodge his lightning and have no choice but to just get in there and slash away as fast as you can. everything else is doable...... very hard but doable!

  • I love this game, as a kid it took me months to end Ninja Gaiden. No saves, no cheats; all we had is continue...

  • @waynegreene

yeah and when the game cooked start from scratch.

  • cause he's lieing haaaa

  • how did you get full life going into the final boss? when i played, i have whatever is remaining during my journey there.

  • Nice!
