I was really excited about the Panamera. I'm a bigtime Porsche-phile. Though it took time, even the Cayenne grew on me. BUT I dont see the Panamera growing into anything other than a wart. It IS ugly. But like the Pontiac Aztek, it will find its niche. Pricing? I dont think people would wanna pay more than 70-80grand for it anymore than for a VW Phaeton... And look where THAT went. Beauty may be skin deep, but I still hafta wear glasses.
I want the new camaro so bad that i'm getting a second job to get it. but it's gotta be a v8 nwith a stick, fuck the v6. eveyone i talk to says why build a v6 camaro it's junk and they would never buy a v6. i think that the new 6 is a good engine but i gotta have a v8 and i have a 1998 z28 with a 6 speed and i get 32 mpg highway and 25 city and i have no idea how it does that but i love that it does.
wow i wouldn't even bother going to go look at a panamera.. if your gonna spend that kinda money on a car get a vette, and if u just cant bare to have a v8 (haha) and must have a 6 cyl, there is an endless list of better looking and more enjoyable cars for fractions of that price.. how much would i pay? i wouldn't.
Fuck all that 90's Camaro bullshit, they sounded horrible and looked horrible. I had the luxury of growing up around an '88 Z28 IROC edition, supercharged 9 MPG, and had a flowmaster system that would make you cringe at 90 mph because of the HP. IMO the older ones are the best, cant wait for the new one. But chances are it'll sound like a can opener. Oh and feel free to mark this as spam because you dont like what i'm saying.
with all seriousness i wouldnt pay 55 grand for the panamera, bc lets be honest its hideous. i still dont understand why people are paying so much for the cayenne. well anyways if it were my money, id rather buy a Merc s63 for the money rather than a panamera, and im a driver who enjoys driving pleasure rather than hydro pneumatic crap in the merc, but that itself explains my point. For what they are asking, my priorities change and im sorry but i chose the merc
Right on about the Turbo's on a Z/28-RS Camaro I think that is a valid point. Edmunds claims that the Camaro will have direct injection, why not slap some small turbo's on? Compete with Europe? Brembo's please... Nice Gear ratios maybe? Oops I forgot who I was asking.(GM)
From my perspective of Porsche, i would not even get close to a Porsche. Its just as always a supped up VW Beetle. And to pay 120k for a beetle sedan, just crazy!
Pst, whatever you say. Porsche's as supped up Beetle's????? Where did you get that idea?????
I mean I know that Porsche DESIGNED the beetle for VW, but they didn't MAKE it for them.
Look, judging by your name, your a ford nut. I love fords too, I own 3 of them, and there the best cars you can buy for the money - Honda's (but I would never buy a Honda, just cause). But for real, Porsche is a lot more than just a "supped up Beetle".
actually since you said that you will like a twin turbo V6 than ur just in luck cause the 2009/2010 mustang is actually going to come with a twin turbo V6!
It's not all about what else you could get. Porsche's have looked relatively the same for 25+ years because the made something that worked THE FIRST TIME! Why change something that is already perfect?
Plus, when you buy a Porsche, you know what kind of quality your getting.
If you buy a Corvette Z06 for &75,000, and buy a Porsche Carrera 4 for &75,000, sure, the Chevy would kill the Porsche in speed, but the corvette is still a Chevy, and the dash is still made out of plastic.
but for the kind of money that you buy any porshe you can buy a lot of cool things. for example i would buy a BMW 135i than a Cayman and steel win in handling and speed. i know that Porshes have a lot of quality in every aspect but everyone have one (because they look the same it seems that there a lot around)
after all the years of searching car stuff on youtube I finally have a topic that I cannot refuse to discuss, ttv6 in a z28 why? remember that anytime that you force air into an engine you have to add more fuel ls6 z06s have a rating 17city 28 highway. the new gtr 17city 21highway with a turbo v6 the ls7 z06 15city 24highway okay what about the 350z 17 city 25 highway with nowhere near the horsepower do v6s really get better mileage when producing as much power as a v8???

a six speed transimisson. When you talked about putting a v-6 in a Z28 camaro you made me pyshically sick, if you had any knowledge of camaros you would know that driving a camaro with a v-6 is like driving a boat, no one in there right mind would buy that car. No matter what the cost of gas is.
Ford did that put nice things on a smaller engine. the Mustang SVO had all the brakes and styling that you guys are talking about putting on the Camaro. and yes the SVO did have some reliability issues but still it was painful for real mustang fans to accept and they didnt. big engine Cobras replaced it
panameras are only worth about 40k why would you spend 130k on a 300 hp v6 when the new gtr is coming for for 80k and its a 490 hp v6 i know its not a sedan but i mean honestly thats just stupid
I seriously can not see me paying more than $60,000 for the 6 cylander porshe. Mostly because I could get a Infiniti G35 sedan for about $35,000, add a $25,000 mark up for the porshe brand, and there you go, you get $60,000 G35 of a porshe emblem on it.
Im actually seriously thinking of buying a v6 Camaro LT RS in 2009. But yea, I totally agree....I hate how when you dont buy the premium model...they remind you of it by making everything plastic and cheap. I mean...who designs those ugly ass wheels that car makers put on base model cars? Do they want you to hate the base models so much that you feel obligated to get the premium?
Another thing you could bring up when comparing Euro vs American cars is build quality. I know it's boring - but there has got to be an explination for the discount feeling of the intirior of an American build car compare with a European or even a Japanese. Think Escalade/navigator vs X5/Cayenne/RR sport...
You guys know your stuff, way better than many car guys. I must say that the Panamera is going in a bad direction. The first composite photos of it, well it was beautiful. I'm talking about the version that looked like a 4 door Carrera GT. Porsche is losing the essence of retaining a family fascia; just because they want to look at the GT as ancient history. Consider this, the '99 Honda Accord 2 door, with the NSX tail: best styled Accord yet.
I would pay no much than 50 Gs for a Panamera. Its a 4 door sedan, to me its nothing more than a fancier M3 or M5 sedan. You can get a Cayanne SUV or something, base for like that price, there's no way I'd pay more than 50G, let alone 109 or 198G for the Panamera piece of crap.
BTW Cobalts are not pieces of crap, I own one, its the best thing I've ever driven.
i would pay no more than $44,600 for the Porsche, reason you could buy a Cayanne for that much. which would also hold 4+ people, and is a lot better looking. And Leo Parente needs to bea a regular co-host.
And about the question. I would pay 65 grand for the base 6 cylinder. the brand name has some extra value, so it wont be the same price as a g35. the top line v10 if it makes that enormously orgasmic sound that the carrera gt made i would pay 150grand. 300grand for that sound - 150 grand for that unbearably ugly look. now if the rapide is out anytime the panamera is out its bye porsche hello aston. Cuz I know it would be gorgeous and make a heavenly sound.
U dont take an american icon and put a twin turbo v6 in it... v8 is the heart of the camaro.. these cunts are retarded, and u look at car stats nowadays, a v6 barely gets any better gas mileage than a v8, its pointless.. u want a twin turbo v6, go buy a damn Nissan. I mean at least chevy is giving the option of a v6 or a v8.
I would pay 75k for the base Panamera even though it ugly but I say that price so that it between a e class and s class price. I would bay like 110k for the V-10
I wouldnt buy either I'm looking at an s65 which is 604hp much faster than even V-10 version of the Panamera and the same price but better looking. I'm am also buying a DBS so I have my Aston covered.
Nice, will u let me drive the dbs? no for me the rapide would be the choice, because im guesssing by the s65 u are talking about a benz? no man thats the most common luxo sedan, every rich prick has one. now im not saying spend much much more and get a maserati qutraporte(spelling) or the rolls royce phantom. but no s class, be a bit different.
my DBS won't come in for awhile needs to be custom made. The S65 Benz is the fast sedan out there the Quattroporte is only like 100k the benz is like 200k. Phantoms are slow big engines but a lot of car to move. I don't think the Rapide is good looking at all this whole 4 door coupe car look the cls, rapide, panamera have not produce good looking cars.
hold on you are buying a luxury sedan because its fast? I dont care how rich you are thats just stupid. A luxury sedan, coupe is supposed to be like a palace, incedibly comfortable, a breeze to drive, refinement beyond belief, not a shitload of buttons everywhere. The Rolls is just that. its the last true luxury car except for the bentleys based on the arnage platform.
I am speed junky what can I say and I need a family car. I am a gadget whore I have a maybach 62 cause the gadgets over the Rolls. I do agree thought the last two true luxury car are those to cars but if you ever get a chance be driven in a maybach.
the dbs should fix any speed issues. if u like gadgets i guess the maybach is for you, thats the reason i hate it. for me i dont mind ridiculous level of complex electronics so long as they dont bother me. like look at the jap tech. the gtrs nasa supercomputer powered awd system. much more advanced than i-drive without being fraction of the itrusiveness. when i get in a luxo sedan all i want is peace, quiet and isolation from the rest of the world. my dream luxo? rolls phantom with all options.
then it wouldn't be a z28 why not share the chassis and change the body a lil give it twin turbo v6 and and give it a new name like corviar it was all about small engine and performance
holy ass that is crazy. i would spend no more than about 60 thousand dollars on a v6 SEDAN. its not really a sports car. my impala has the same engine and i bought it for 12 thousand dollars
If I had the money to purchase a decent sports car, and it was going to be a porche, I would be insulting myself to buy a porche sedan. I'd pay for this what you pay for the 4 door G-35
that panamera price is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. ever. that is insane, porsche is going to hell so fast. first the suv, now the panamera, and then this hatchback they are talking about. i know they want to buy out vw, but don't kill yourselves to get there. i would say the base panamera is worth 45k. the full bore tt v10, IF it is capable of beating the cts-v around the 'ring and is twice as luxurious could never be worth more than 130k.
i wouldn't pay $3k for a panamera. if im going to buy a porsche im getting a sports car not a magnum with turbos....i just think they really should stick to what they know best like full blown european sports cars.
most likely i would pay about 87 g's for one. for one reason is the car going to be a good as a m5 or even an m3 sedan? if so im ok with paying the money but hey if it sucks ball i mean come on you could buy nearly 5 jcw mine coopers and i dont know about but Farah and i would take the copper and just glue then together and smoke the porsche.
is there anybody knows which truck/SUV dealer is selling under 15k off price? it better not under RSVP. normally they have freaking rediculous number on the RSVP sticker on the window.
A twin-turbo V6 Camaro *may* see the light of day. Anyone who saw the Holden Torana concept car will remember it had a TT V6 (375hp). Since Holden has a hand in the new Camaro, that engine *could* become an option. If you do some research, you'll see what I'm talking about.
the top end end Panamera's price doesn't seem so crazy if it's TT V8 or V10, but 130 for a V6????????? try 80 grand. just because of Porsche quality and the brand. but 80 is still a little high.
P.S. Matt, one time you said TT V8 and the second time you said TT V10.
I would pay very little maybe 40k for a Panamera base car with a V6. However for a TT V10 i mght pay 200k. If anything i think they should have 2 different models. A shitty one so ppl can say "I have a Porsche Sedan" and a TT V10 monster to compete with like Bentleys and maybe even the Audi R8 with the V8. I know the R8 is a 2 seater, but id still b cool. Anyone feeling me? Ya I know. Im awesome
You don't like the Cobalt much, but (as Derek D proudly pointed out), the new Camaro is only a few short seconds faster around the 'Ring than the SS. But the Cobalt SS is actually a great car for the money. Do you think this shows that our American ideal of a muscle car is overrated?
americans have never had a problem making cars that go fast or are good performance bargains (Corvette, Mustang GT, Cobalt SS, Neon SRT-4). What they are lacking is in that last 15% of effort that could truly make them great cars. Things like high quality fit and finish, interiors that feel like they were designed for real drivers, and innovative features that make you think that some originality went into the car tend to be left out of these designs.
You can make any car good with the right mods though!
I mean, they took the new Fiat 500 and put the Abarth kit on it, boosted the engine, gave it a turbo and it is one of the quickest and best looking cars in it's class now :D
Porche dropped the ball when it built that ridiculous truck. Great show, the Panamera isn't even on most peoples radar anyway,it will give the rest of us something to snicker about when we see one on the street.
uh i wouldn't even buy a four door porsche unless it was the cayenne, even then it is still four door porsche. I am an American muscle car guy, but when i think of porsche the 911 comes to my mind, at it is only two door.
that buy one get one free thing is crazy, the best family car is the Audi RS6. i would pay about $75,000 for a panamera 6, and about $160,000 for a bi-turbo 10. NO MORE, and with all porsches there is a ton of extras which cost a bomb so if inside line is right, i rekon some panameras are gona be over $210,000
I heard that you 'can' get the RS package for the base model Camaro which includes the spoiler and 20" wheels, so you can get a pimped v6. It just won't have the big brakes.
i would probally pay around 50-70 grand.. you are paying for the name tho.. i mean if a Chevy cobalt and a Bmw M3 where the exact same car same spects except the name the people would pay more because its a BMW and not a CHevy
It has no inspired design anywhere in it, no innovative features that I could find, it understeers very badly, has a garbage 4-speed automatic that keeps the revs way too high for an economy car. It also doesn't have enough power to get out of its own way, terrible brakes, and seats that are literally like stretching canvas (or plastic, if you order leather) across un-bolstered boarding school chairs. I rented one recently and I commented to the whole staff that it was the worst car ever.
Love the new camaro, wish it didn't cost something rediculous like 70k Euros over here...as it probably will. No one will buy it here unless they are a fanatic f-body fanboy.
At most, i would pay 100K for the top-of-the-line Panamera. Posrche is just pushing their high-class look to raise the price of their cars. I would rather just stick with a GTR than spend twice as much on a way slower and less nimble car.
Dude, Matt your from Greenwich. Me too! why haven't I seen you around?

Leo carried this show, Matt you sound like you've done your research but still don't know what you're talking about.

I drove a Z28 limited edition camaro
for 4 years, with a 350 5.7 lite engine and
a six speed transimisson. When you talked about putting a v-6 in a Z28 camaro you made me pyshically sick, if you had any knowledge of camaros you would know that driving a camaro with a v-6 is like driving a boat, no one in there right mind would buy that car. No matter what the cost of gas is.
acrazyemployee 3 years ago
Ford did that put nice things on a smaller engine. the Mustang SVO had all the brakes and styling that you guys are talking about putting on the Camaro. and yes the SVO did have some reliability issues but still it was painful for real mustang fans to accept and they didnt. big engine Cobras replaced it

base v6:50k
4.4 V8: 57-62k
4.4TT V8:70-85k
V10 Uber Panamera GT: 100-140k(i would pay 200k just for the noise that amazing V10 makes)
nickpa660 3 years ago
I would only be willing to pay the price of a base 911
robm425 3 years ago
actually even better get a 2006 lamborghini murceilago lp640 for 150k i think thats a bit faster then a panamera
ekkiller101 3 years ago
panameras are only worth about 40k why would you spend 130k on a 300 hp v6 when the new gtr is coming for for 80k and its a 490 hp v6 i know its not a sedan but i mean honestly thats just stupid
ekkiller101 3 years ago
I seriously can not see me paying more than $60,000 for the 6 cylander porshe. Mostly because I could get a Infiniti G35 sedan for about $35,000, add a $25,000 mark up for the porshe brand, and there you go, you get $60,000 G35 of a porshe emblem on it.
Alexsered 3 years ago
Im actually seriously thinking of buying a v6 Camaro LT RS in 2009. But yea, I totally agree....I hate how when you dont buy the premium model...they remind you of it by making everything plastic and cheap. I mean...who designs those ugly ass wheels that car makers put on base model cars? Do they want you to hate the base models so much that you feel obligated to get the premium?
spade9036 3 years ago
Another thing you could bring up when comparing Euro vs American cars is build quality. I know it's boring - but there has got to be an explination for the discount feeling of the intirior of an American build car compare with a European or even a Japanese. Think Escalade/navigator vs X5/Cayenne/RR sport...
krestiank 3 years ago
I have brought this up several times, and will continue to do so until someone over in Detroit listens to me.

LegendaryBadass 3 years ago
Id pay $190k for the Porshe if it was made of pure gold, incrusted in diamonds, and came with a supermodel....and it needs to be buy 1 get 1.
spade9036 3 years ago
I would pay no much than 50 Gs for a Panamera. Its a 4 door sedan, to me its nothing more than a fancier M3 or M5 sedan. You can get a Cayanne SUV or something, base for like that price, there's no way I'd pay more than 50G, let alone 109 or 198G for the Panamera piece of crap.
BTW Cobalts are not pieces of crap, I own one, its the best thing I've ever driven.
stcdodge94 3 years ago
As long as you like it, that's what's important.
Garage419 3 years ago
i would pay no more than $44,600 for the Porsche, reason you could buy a Cayanne for that much. which would also hold 4+ people, and is a lot better looking. And Leo Parente needs to bea a regular co-host.
HJW018 3 years ago
i think it should start at the most 55k or 60k
sgman92 3 years ago
i would pay $45,765 at most. THERE IS NO NEW TECHNOLOGY in this car... plus i could buy a GT2 or a GT3 997. for the damn same price if not less.
demosnipe1589 3 years ago
how did you come up with an exact figure!? :)
dmanway 3 years ago
And about the question. I would pay 65 grand for the base 6 cylinder. the brand name has some extra value, so it wont be the same price as a g35. the top line v10 if it makes that enormously orgasmic sound that the carrera gt made i would pay 150grand. 300grand for that sound - 150 grand for that unbearably ugly look. now if the rapide is out anytime the panamera is out its bye porsche hello aston. Cuz I know it would be gorgeous and make a heavenly sound.
ztunelover 3 years ago
what are u smokin' thinking the V8 MT camaro will only get around 20mpg highway?
revoredline 3 years ago
The automatic with cylinder shutoff only gets 23, you think the larger, non-cutoff engine will do better than 20? I doubt it.
Garage419 3 years ago
@Garage419 Actually, the Camaro SS V8 is the Same Size V8 for Both the Automatic & Manual Transmissions.
The Difference being the Fuel Management system (Cylinder Shut-off) for the Automatic, and you get 25MPG with that.
The Manual version gets 24MPG.

Muffdiverboy 3 years ago
U dont take an american icon and put a twin turbo v6 in it... v8 is the heart of the camaro.. these cunts are retarded, and u look at car stats nowadays, a v6 barely gets any better gas mileage than a v8, its pointless.. u want a twin turbo v6, go buy a damn Nissan. I mean at least chevy is giving the option of a v6 or a v8.
Muffdiverboy 3 years ago
50 K tops for the panamera.
PorscheDauer962LM 3 years ago
I would pay 75k for the base Panamera even though it ugly but I say that price so that it between a e class and s class price. I would bay like 110k for the V-10
eliasatalah 3 years ago
no bro i would wait for the aston rapide, its so beautiful. and its performance and price is probably going to be comparable.
ztunelover 3 years ago
I wouldnt buy either I'm looking at an s65 which is 604hp much faster than even V-10 version of the Panamera and the same price but better looking. I'm am also buying a DBS so I have my Aston covered.
eliasatalah 3 years ago
Nice, will u let me drive the dbs? no for me the rapide would be the choice, because im guesssing by the s65 u are talking about a benz? no man thats the most common luxo sedan, every rich prick has one. now im not saying spend much much more and get a maserati qutraporte(spelling) or the rolls royce phantom. but no s class, be a bit different.
ztunelover 3 years ago
my DBS won't come in for awhile needs to be custom made. The S65 Benz is the fast sedan out there the Quattroporte is only like 100k the benz is like 200k. Phantoms are slow big engines but a lot of car to move. I don't think the Rapide is good looking at all this whole 4 door coupe car look the cls, rapide, panamera have not produce good looking cars.
eliasatalah 3 years ago
hold on you are buying a luxury sedan because its fast? I dont care how rich you are thats just stupid. A luxury sedan, coupe is supposed to be like a palace, incedibly comfortable, a breeze to drive, refinement beyond belief, not a shitload of buttons everywhere. The Rolls is just that. its the last true luxury car except for the bentleys based on the arnage platform.
ztunelover 3 years ago
I am speed junky what can I say and I need a family car. I am a gadget whore I have a maybach 62 cause the gadgets over the Rolls. I do agree thought the last two true luxury car are those to cars but if you ever get a chance be driven in a maybach.
eliasatalah 3 years ago
the dbs should fix any speed issues. if u like gadgets i guess the maybach is for you, thats the reason i hate it. for me i dont mind ridiculous level of complex electronics so long as they dont bother me. like look at the jap tech. the gtrs nasa supercomputer powered awd system. much more advanced than i-drive without being fraction of the itrusiveness. when i get in a luxo sedan all i want is peace, quiet and isolation from the rest of the world. my dream luxo? rolls phantom with all options.

dtech1992vic 3 years ago
that panamera price is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. ever. that is insane, porsche is going to hell so fast. first the suv, now the panamera, and then this hatchback they are talking about. i know they want to buy out vw, but don't kill yourselves to get there. i would say the base panamera is worth 45k. the full bore tt v10, IF it is capable of beating the cts-v around the 'ring and is twice as luxurious could never be worth more than 130k.

Panamera base price: 70k.
TGseason10 3 years ago
the top end end Panamera's price doesn't seem so crazy if it's TT V8 or V10, but 130 for a V6????????? try 80 grand. just because of Porsche quality and the brand. but 80 is still a little high.

Ya I know. Im awesome
mclarenzbender2 3 years ago
$127K for a sedan that until NOW I thought was at least OK-looking? Fugetaboutit!
Wormtail81 3 years ago
Matt,
You don't like the Cobalt much, but (as Derek D proudly pointed out), the new Camaro is only a few short seconds faster around the 'Ring than the SS. But the Cobalt SS is actually a great car for the money. Do you think this shows that our American ideal of a muscle car is overrated?
Wormtail81 3 years ago
americans have never had a problem making cars that go fast or are good performance bargains (Corvette, Mustang GT, Cobalt SS, Neon SRT-4). What they are lacking is in that last 15% of effort that could truly make them great cars. Things like high quality fit and finish, interiors that feel like they were designed for real drivers, and innovative features that make you think that some originality went into the car tend to be left out of these designs.
Garage419 3 years ago
The Neon SRT-4 was so great. I think it was a real mistake to get rid of it for the Caliber SRT-4 (yuck).
Wormtail81 3 years ago
I would pay probably 50 000 for a base panamera and up to 120 000 for the top end one.

You can make any car good with the right mods though!

scotsocool 3 years ago
It has no inspired design anywhere in it, no innovative features that I could find, it understeers very badly, has a garbage 4-speed automatic that keeps the revs way too high for an economy car. It also doesn't have enough power to get out of its own way, terrible brakes, and seats that are literally like stretching canvas (or plastic, if you order leather) across un-bolstered boarding school chairs. I rented one recently and I commented to the whole staff that it was the worst car ever.

At most, i would pay 100K for the top-of-the-line Panamera. Posrche is just pushing their high-class look to raise the price of their cars. I would rather just stick with a GTR than spend twice as much on a way slower and less nimble car.
