It seems like it could've been inspired by Life of Brian, except that I know the book is from about ' 69, and it had a similar scene. I think dapoetmaster is right, because that scene comes LATE in the book, so it doesn't really belong EARLY in the film.
oK interesting but I am glad they did not include it. It's too blunt in it's presentation & narrows the film greatly had it been included...Good call on deleting this scene. It is interesting in parts. The visual of the three crosses, was very nice. THAT fit the film well, the dialogue & medium shots just tanked the entire thing.
