  • Fantastic place for a Netroots Conference. Imagine Texas big shots like Ken Baileys Hutchinson, John Cromag and Rick Paris will be in attendance.

  • funny to see demos with 19% approval rating talk about bush being unpopular with 29% lol

  • Uh sorry mate. Thats the latest REPUBLICAN approval ratings. Which means they actually have gone up! Woohoo!

  • Ask Pelosi why she should be re-elected as a Democrat?

  • I don't think history's going to be very kind to pelosi. She's willfully suppressed all action to uphold and defend the constitution, she's ignored the abuse of power that continues under her watch solely for the purpose of serving her own political end; namely that, through inaction they've become complicit.

Even Conyers seems to be missing the boat, in that he feels that negative action by congress against the administration might hurt Obama's political run- politics controlling govt again..

  • Obama-Gingrich in 2008

  • Josh, Shave it off man!

  • yay, Nancy Pelosi! The WORST piece of shit to ever take over the Congress.

  • sounds like a very good kos =]

  • Clark impersonates Bush pretty damn good LMAO!!!

  • totally agree, that was hilarious

  • uhhh... what's a KOS?

  • Westley Clark in 2013! War or peace, he can do it all folks.

  • How does Dodd find support in the Constitution for health care or any other social program?

He ignores it for his purposes, Bush for his. I'm not equating the nobility of his aims, only his disrespect for the wording of the Constitution.

  • Would you support a modern interpretation of the constitution? I ask this question quite frequently. Most say they would not, but when i ask why, the answer usually tells me I've asked the wrong person.

  • An interpretation requires at least something capable of being interpreted, i.e. a phrase or sentence of the Constitution that might be understood differently to reflect a change in perception over time but in the language written back then.

If there's not a single clause granting Congress the power to pass such legislation, what would be its basis? Good will? Charity?

Article 1, Section 8, the enumerated powers. Only those powers were given to Congress, the rest to the states.

  • Also, if you're implying that "modern" ignorance, not an interpretation--as there's nothing to interpret-- of the Constitution should be tolerated out of sympathy for others, what can I say but what I already said earlier. Dodd wants to pass laws when he has no constitutional basis for doing so. All it would take is 2/3 of Congress to change the Constitution. Push for that in support of the rule of law instead of asking me to agree or be antisocial. There's a copy of the Const. on wikipedia.

  • Does anyone else see a problem with THIS GOVERNMENT running healthcare?

No one seems to be considering the possibility that to remain "covered by the govts plan" you may very well eventually have to report to local clinics and receive standard injections and pill supplements.

  • Gravel makes me sick. leaving the democratic party just because no one supported him

    Obama '08

  • My problem with Gravel is that he would ever be in that warmonger Democratic Party in the first place. Hope you're enjoying your candidate Obama's somersaults to the right. Don't Obama supports know anything about his voting record or do they just not care?

  • Yeah but sadly I think thats the only way someone can really get any traction and hope to make any kind of difference nowadays.

The vast majority of the American public is simply so politically sheepish and ignorant, and downright cowardly about supporting anyone outside the two (which are really ONE, if you ask me) parties that the best chance for real change I think will have to come from people like Gravel, Kucinich, and Ron Paul slowly but surely ideologically taking over the two parties.

  • Gravel makes you sick for leaving the democratic party? Tell me... does Obomba (and the majority of the democrats) make you sick when he funds terrorism in Iraq? How about when he votes to fund torture at gitmo? Or when he votes to allow illegal wiretapping of U.S. citizens. Obama is the sick one my ignorant friend. Mike Gravel would never support such atrocities.

  • exciting

  • GoOd ViDeO MaN

  • Markos FTW. That guy made a movement move.

Wesley Clarke would be a good president too!

  • WOOOOOO!!!!!!!

    Mike Gravel!

  • Everything seems to be happening in Austin, Texas nowadays. I have been hearing a lot from this city lately.

  • Austin is a fabulous place and Texans of all types are known for not taking too much shit.

Don't be suprised to see Texas lead the way in standing up to the US gov't.

  • Texas sent Bush as their Presidential failure. Ya we have seen what Texans can do.

  • Not fair to blame Texas for Bush. Lots of people were foolish enough to fall for his BS. (not me)

Most of Texas can be pretty conservative, but when pushed passed a certain point, Texans of all stripes are rather independant.

  • Austin TX may be the most independent city in the US.

  • Texas, New york, California are absolutely the same. Corporate owned. The people of texas have absolutely nothing to do with electing anyone.

  • Glad you'll be posting vids. I really want to see the Netroots hold Pelosi accountable. Also curious how Lakoffs' session will be received.

  • Sorry, Pelosi doesn't have any progressive cred as far as I'm concerned. She's done zilch of consequence with her majority. I would send Cindy Sheehan a check if I thought she had any chance of bringing this woman down and replacing her w/ real antiwar candidate who will do more than sit on her ass and complain while funding our illegal occupation.

  • I REALLY wanted to attend, but it was something like $150 dollars just to enter!

  • sorry, not $150, $375! I would have driven so far to be apart of this too since this is such an important year for the grassroots movement, but how on Earth can you expect us to afford such a rate?

  • cool
