  • Chrysler made a loss on these cars, which is true of most cars in the class.

  • I love the sundance animation that looks like it came from a 1980s computer game

  • The Sundance/Shadow twins were much better cars than the Neon, in my opinion, for their build quality was better, and they were more reliable, too.

  • bad cars, better buy a japanese

  • @tarzan694 that's true now, but chrysler was good in the 80's

  • @CoffeeSquib I have a Chrysler, still and it runs great.

  • That chick at 0:18-0:19 is hot.

  • i love that front end i wish my shadow had it

  • The song reminds me of the song from Team America lol

  • Had a 91 Sundance, have to say it was a cheap car, and was good on gas. See a lot on the road still.

  • The most widely available repair history data - Consumer Reports - is not statistically valid. It comes from a double self selected sample, subscribers who decided to send in the report. They've also been told by CU for years Hondas are the best.

The defective method is best shown by cars that are sold under different names but are mechanically the same. Models sold by GM but built by Asian companies get lower ratings than the same cars with Asian nameplates.

  • Absolutely true, consumer reports in a 100% invalid source for real ratings, and honda has never been or ever will be anywhere close to the best.

  • If these cars were so great, then why haven't i seen one on the road in the last 20 years? while in the meantime, i've seen every old honda on the road that was ever made.

  • LMAO

    Amen!

(Says the guy with an 86 and an 81 Honda....)

  • How unfortunate for you.

  • I agree, Everyday I see Spirit, Acclaim, Dynasty, Aries, Shadow, Sundance, tons of Caravan/Voyagers. The oldest Toyota or Honda I see is maybe a '99. And this is coming from someone who worked at a Toyota Dealer.

  • I hope toyota learns a valuable lesson, too many have dies due to their recent issues which they apparently knew about since 2000.

  • Where do you live?

  • are you a fucking jap?!!

  • no, i'm a nigga.

  • Survival rate at this point has a lot to do with the original owners. Young people's cars are never parked, they're always going somewhere, unlike the older people's cars that spend a lot of time in the garage.

I did an autotrader seach nationon 87-93 Sundances, and the Reliant and its replacement, the Aclaim. The cars have the same mechanicals but obviously appeal to different people.

    17 Sundance, 31 Reliant/Aclaim.

  • Holy crap, the Sundance is a POS.

  • lmfao ftw i wish i have that exact car its a bitch and piece of shit but the chicks dig it

  • that's the 1980's for you.

  • Gay pride is back? Awesome!

  • The cheese worked, people liked the comeback story of Chrysler and Lee they bought a lot of Chryslers in the 80's. The K-Cars were darn solid cars if you were on a budget. T

  • A standard with 4 wheel drive?

I thought they only put a727's trannys on a truck with 4wd?

  • yep, it's a fully syncroinzed 5 speed,

  • I still have a 89' dodge ram that runs perfectly. It helps when you maintain your truck.

  • we have a1992 w-250 4X4 155,000 miles so far so good, the clutch is worrying me though,

  • 80s Turbo Dodges were some of the only nice Chysler products of the past 30 years. The Sundance/Shadow is usually a pretty terrible car.

Plymouth was the most unnecessary car marque ever...

  • i don't know much about the 80s chrysler cars, but their pickups were all right

  • THE PRIDE IS BAKC? I had a Neon whose front speakers died in the last year that I had the car. Then my Intrepid had it's head gasket fail at 90k miles.

In "Crap Cars", the K-Car got a mention. "If this was Chrysler's savior, standards have dropped since Christ's Time."

The singers were Kenny Rogers and Nikki Ryder.

  • Thank you for posting this. This was a good American car that looked like an American car, not the bland, boring shapes that plague most cars nowadays.

  • Iacocca is a marketing genius. Chrysler LLC should be begging him back for commercial appearances.

  • Lee! We need you to save Chrysler again!

  • NO SHIT!!!!

  • no shit

  • this is so funny... at the time, every dodge, chrysler and plymouth was a repackaged K-car

  • About the time that Chrysler unveiled this ad campaign, they got caught engaging in a dealer practice of rolling back the mileage of demo vehicles and selling them as new. David Letterman, then of "Late Night" made the remark, "Well, Chrysler says 'The pride is back... and so are the odometers!!'"

  • the pride should have stayed away!!! thanks Lee Iaccocca!!!

  • Unbelievable American my ass. That aint the worst car ever, in fact, it's a pretty damn decent car.

But Chrysler did pick the wrong lyrics and phrase for this car.

"The pride is back! Born in America...Again!" What they are sayin is that before the Sundance was introduced, all American-made vehicles were shit. But that's not exactly true, though.

  • I think its 1986 again. Ford brought back the Taurus, Ford CEO wants to bring back "have you driven a Ford lately" tagline, and Chrysler is a proud American company again. I missed 1986 the first time, now I know what it's like lol.

  • I hope the New Chrysler can somehow capitalize on becoming an American company again.

  • Iacocca saved Chrysler from bankruptcy through his procurement of government loans. With this capital he brought to market the "K" car along with all its derivatives, including the Sundance / Shadow series. If it wasn't for Lee Iacocca, Chrysler would have been merely a chapter in automotive history.

  • And this era of K-car Chryslers has been the most dependable Chryslers of the past 25 or so years! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Of course they did, and Chrysler reliability has been awful ever since.

  • So true. The K-cars were inexpensive to buy, easy to service, and comfortable to drive. Chrysler had a good thing going, but their '90s era management spoiled everything with the poorly engineered Neon and quality deficient "LH" series. Hopefully the new Chrysler will turn things around, but if not the Chinese will be here in a few years with reliable, low-cost vehicles.

  • @webmanc CHINA AND QUALITY SHOULD NOT BE MENTIONED IN THE SAME SENTENCE! Though, I do have to agree, after Lee retired in the early 1990s (that explains why the shit Eagle divsion came and died off, good riddence), quality has taken a hit. Although, we do have 1998 Stratus with 265,000+ miles and still going on the original transmission! But some idiot mechanics and Grismer have just about killed it otherwise. Trust me, a mechanic once left loose bolts and screw driver under the hood!

  • @webmanc Uh for the LH Cars I had a Dodge Intrepid which is one of the LH cars and it wasn't bad.

  • Lee Iacocca is WOW jejee
