Thanks for your comment, memories of that ride are still very strong over a year later. Yep, that last 300km or so was like riding through treacle. Haven't done much this year except a 425k audax ride in July which brought back the horrors of through the night riding. Still, the plan is to qualify for PBP next year and hope for a better ride - forewarned is forearmed! All the best, Pete
Great Video which also provides inspiration for the coming season.I was just comparing our Audax cards and i arrived in Gamlingay at 05.10 on friday and finished at 09.50 so we probably crossed paths.i was so sleep deprived though that i didnt really take much in at Gam.. except for some Japanese chap who was bordering on a state of delirium. Hope to do the PBP next year if i get a starting place,so may see you there.
Mr Kelsey, this might mean less coming as it does from someone who tried and failed LEL 09 but you have my utmost respect. Very well done Sir. Excellent post.
Thanks for your post, sorry you didn't make it to the finish - where did you stop? As you can see from the film i nearly packed in a few times on the way home, still not sure how i made it back but with the help of a few other fellow sufferers we just about made it. Hope you're back on the bike again. and preparing for PBP in 2011, may see you then.
Fantastic! Well done! I'm looking to do LEL in 2013! Did JoGLE this year had the same issues with the knees...i feel your pain!

What an amazing video. Sitting here with tears in my eyes. Can't wait for 2013 and to have my boys welcome me back home.

You are a better man than I - respect to you. I am a keen cyclist but the LEL is bigger than me.

The real truth about it is no one gets it right
The real truth about it is were all supposed to try
There aint no end to the sands Ive been trying to cross
The real truth about it is my kind of lifes no better off
If Ive got the maps or if Im lost
