"the list goes on and on..." Yeah...right. That "list" is 20-40 years old now.....what new has come about besides a huge debt from this program ?
The only technology that is "new" is only "new" to our quasi enemies like Russia and China whom we just give it away or expose it on "co-operative missions".
I'm thankful that everyone in this world isn't like you. You clearly have no idea what NASA does and what people do in the organization. Nasa landed the first humans on the moon. I dont recall of a truck driver or a bicyclist going to outer space or building a ship that can transport them 238857 miles away to a moon. You simple minded idiot.
I'm thankful there are more and more. You clearly have no idea what NASA does of late. The moon landings were how long ago? and what exactly was gained by doing so besides a "oh, I feel good for an hour" feeling? You're obviously the simple minded idiot here and probably have financial tie to the program.
And by the way...more truck drivers anc cyclists are killed yearly than 100x the number of astronauts killed....imbecile.
What are you 12 have some structure to your replies instead of copying what i wrote. "You clearly have no idea what NASA does " an exact copy. I guess i will point out some things to you instead of playing your truck and cyclist game.

i was born in 94, so i can only remember the columbia explosion. i was mad at the news for replaying the same clip again and again and wasn't paying attention to the lost lives. i was only 9.
The ocean is littered with the wrecks of vessels of discovery. Exploration will always demand a price. We learn from our mistakes, and press on.
I was too young for Apollo 1 fire, but
the shuttle losses hit my like a ton of bricks. I still have a hard time watching any video.
I vow to fight for what they gave their lives for in the challenging times ahead for NASA. Join National Space Society, support NASA, write your representatives, Now more then ever NASA needs our support.
I know the risk, but would not have hesitated for a moment, when I had been asked to join one of these brave crews.
I never watch a launch, without remembering them.
Its not space that gives us the real problems, it is those 10 minutes we need to get there and getting back home safely afterwards again.
Thats why I think, now the shuttle is such a proven vehicle, that they should build and use an updated version now all the knowledge to do it is still available.
I remember Challenger very well. It was my birthday and my wife had invited lots of guests to our house for a party. I was really interested in the launch so I asked to be excused and watched it on TV. I felt so sad and shocked I was unable to speak identifying closely with those on board and all their families and those associated with the project. Needless to say there was no party that night.
I always remember each birthday, as I did yesterday.
God speed to the Crews of Apollo 1, Challenger and Columbia. May their sacrifices never be forgotten and may humanity's peaceful exploration of space continue. Per aspera ad astra.
I wish they would add Michael Adams and the last flight of the X-15-3

they are making an updated version. i take it you've heard of Ares l and Ares V?
sorry8140 2 years ago
Yes, they did a test launch recently. Unfortunately the latest news is that they won't be able to continue the program due to budget cuts.
