There are some games that effortlessly create a world of their own that a player can go to and get lost in. I think soundtrack has a lot to do with that effect, but this game (and a few others) had everything. Amazing.

This game features the work of Katsuya Kondo who is a Character designer for Studio Ghibli. He worked on designing the characters in Princess Mononoke which is why Jade Cocoon is so similar. I just found this out thats why I thought of posting it.

@ed4409 it is...sadly only on the Japanese PSN hopefully it becomes popular enough for them to bring it onto the US and EU PSN's. So start emailing that it be brought over thats how FFVIII and FFIX came over Sony and SE got flooded by emails after they released FFVII.

Also its more just information about how things have gotten done in the past and what it will likely take for this to get done. Honestly Genki was such a small company back then I highly doubt it still even exist. If it did I doubt they are respected enough that Sony would help them get it done.

Also, for those who want to revisit this game. Here's a tip! Do not mix your first summon to ANY MONSTER, because he is one of the most powerful creature you'll ever get! Only mix him when you have a certain creature from the Corridor's of Darkness.

Too bad they had to go and make a terrible sequel to it.

The second one just didn't have that atmosphere and the battle system was terrible.

The first jade cocoon was truly the best game of its time, still today I play this, I've still got the original disc I bought all those years ago (scratched like hell but still works).

I just wish it got more attention when it came out.

Its the best game ever!

I really loved the ambient music that went with the forests, and the eeriness of the dark forests, the Moth forest had to be my favourite :P.

Great game, I enjoy the sequal, but it doesn't compare to the first one :).

Yep thats right, you follow him to the beetle forest gate where you go through and meet the blue cocoon master. (The song there was great!) Then you train with him and get the blue dragon creature.

yeh, i played it so much and i restarted the game loads for fun..but i can vividly remember (im goin back some years here) there being not a corridor literally but you would walk from one end to the other and loads of rare creatures would be there and at the end you see a cutscene and theres two minions on either side of the doorway? im not sure so let me know if im wrong! :O

I never actually got to play it, as it came at a bad time for me. But I used to keep the demo running on the PS - just sitting at the menu, for that awesome music. I could tell that it was a great game, just by the atmosphere there.

what the....i have the italian edition of that game, and the introduction is shorter; all the spoken part until 1:22 has been cut! .. by the way, thanks for sharing, i loved jade cocoon. despite being an obvious pokemon-inspired game, it managed to have a great original plot and a great style, thanks also to mr Kondo design.
