I was at Cosford last year, and seen this fantastic aircraft, the differance here is when your at the show, the sound of the engines kinda go's through you!
i agree, regardless of the cost this beast is beautiful, and a marvel of British engineering. so let them have the glory! i sure would enjoy the sight of one of these in the sky again.
Great time. TV,Music,Sports,Concerts, and Air Shows,Etc were the best in that decade. Saw the best with Presley open tour in Buffalo '72 and again in '76,Alice Cooper in '73,Jethro Tull in '74,The Who in '75,BTO in '75,Rolling Stones in Toronto in '78,Chicago in '76,Queen in '78,Aerosmith in '76,Peter Frampton in '77,Ted Nugent in '77,Blue Oyster Cult in '76,Boston in '78,Heart in '78,Styx in '79,Supertramp in '79.
I know this is not reality and will never happen again but I would love to see an air show again here with at least the F-101 Voodoo squadron 15 minute show, the C-130 Hercules JATO demo close up and following 10 minute show, the Red Arrows 15 minute show, then the Vulcan do it's 20 minute show close up as it did here back in the early 1970's. Then the Snowbirds were the last of the Air Show.

Nice! But...at what cost? Is it worth TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY to fly it? Vulcan Operating Co told Lottery that airshow fees would pay all costs for sustained operations. Now, we're finding out that's not true. Sorry, guys, but TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY was never gonna come from airshow fees. A blind man couldda seen that before you started. I seem to recall the RAF retired it because, aside from being old, it was also EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE. VulcantotheHANGAR!
@tradbgon Well sorry to disapoint your little vulcan to the hanger scheme. But we got a donation of £600,000 today for vulcan. She will fly this year. so you man are a idiot. and we have proved you wrong. I SAY VULCAN TO THE SKY
@tradbgon Sorry turkey but the Concorde is also going up in 2012 London Olympics too. The C-130 Hercules Fat Albert may do the rocket JATO demos again on rare occasions. The supplier right now does not manufacture the bottles. Too expensive. No aircraft uses more fuel than the dump and burn F-111 display at air shows.
tha vulcan was the highlight of that show but between that and the typhoon i was nearly deaf i was in the hangar when it flew over and i thought the hangar was coming down but OMG that thing was beautiful in the air and really nice video =)
Awesome video! I saw one of these planes perform at an airshow at Andrews AFB just out side of Washington D.C. in the early eighties. To this day I still remember it as the LOUDEST aircraft I have ever heard.
i was there jeez it was packed by where u was filming i was at the other end by the lynx and the apache.. i love the vulcan she is truly amazing.. i got 2 sit in the apache yes.. lucky me awsome vid though ..!!!!
AWESOME, so cool that 558 is in the air again, jeez, Britain is a mixed bag, we have (had?) the ability to build amazing stuff like the Vulcan but the hoops that they've had to jump through have been ridiculous. So sad that the Lightnings, Buccs and, ahem, Victor at Brunty probably won't be allowed to fly again...
such a beautiful aircraft. it was the first time i ever saw it in the sky instead of tucked away in a museum and i will never forget that howl it gave off as it turned into the sky. We probably wont get to see its agility in motion like the old days due to the risks but just seeing it up there is a real treat. thanks for this video.
The display is definately more adventurous this year - I love the engine howl during the final pass. Absolutely wonderful to see this amazing aircraft displaying again this year; there were times earlier this year when I honestly thought it wouldn't happen. Brilliantly filmed. Looking forward to seeing the DVD ;)
Beautiful plane, too bad it has to be used for war.

You can feel the engines resonate through you when you are near this aircraft. I experienced this at Filton in Bristol.

Great video. Detail of the bomb bay doors open very good. Lovely sound from those Rolls Royce Olympus engines!
I'd recommend reading 'vulcan 607' about the 'black buck' mission of the Falklands conflict, the only time the Vulcan was used offensively.
