During the late 90's there was a song called "Save it for a Rainy Day". I don't know who sings it but it sounds kinda like Stevie Nicks. So far I can't find it. Any idea?
@2000gypsy Wrong one. And it wasn't the one by Stephen Bishop either. Some of the words to the song go "held you like you were a child". The Jayhawks don't sound anything like Stevie Nicks. Their song came out in 2003. The one I'm looking for is from 1997 or '98.
Just read pages 194-200 of the biography 'I'll Sleep When I'm Dead; the dirty life and times of Warren Zevon", written by his former wife and lifelong girfriend Crystal Zevon. Heartbreaking stuff.
The story I heard was that Stevie Nicks only reluctantly recorded and released it because she didn't like it. I'm pretty sure it was an interview with her at the time of Enchanted- she said she didn't like the words, that she would never ask someone to reconsider her!
It is a great song though, and this is the definitive version.
Warren Zevon wrote this song specifically for Stevie (they were dating at the time) and Jimmy Iovine brought it to her for "Rock a Little" and she recorded it but refused to put it on the record for reasons known only to her. Zevon recorded it and released it in 1987.
I knew this song from the years when Zevon toured without a record contract, and it was always a highlight. What a shame that Stevie didn't put it out. It should have been a hit for someone
Well she did release it as a single in 1998 when she released her "Enchanted" 3-cd box set. I remember hearing it for the first time at a water park back then. It didn't do much in terms of airplay that many years after being recorded though.
I have it Stevie's box set "Enchanted" which came out in 1998.

@jityr2 "Rainy Day", 10,000 Maniacs. :) I can't remember the lead singer from the late 90's, but Natalie Merchant was gone by then.

I can't believe Stevie had/has doubts about her version--I think it's one of her most powerful performances.
