Great tutorial! Question: Why is it that when I save my PSD document in cmyk as a jpg file the colors in the new file are extremely distorted on my screen? I make all the needed adjustments while in PS, and everything looks fine while still IN PS. It is not until the file has been saved as a jpg and opened (using an image viewer such as irfanview) that everything is distroted. What could I be doing wrong? I should point out that I have not printed these files, only viewed them on my screen. Thnx
Hi, thnx for the info, but Im wondering why you didnt show the edit>convert profile function and its options, and it would have been more usefull if you showed us what to do about the inevitable color shift that take places when converting bright RGB colors. Oh well, I guess this was more usefull for some people who werent even aware of the issues.
This is where normal people get screwed when they purchase a consumer product. It doesn't do what the pros can do. You pay either way. Buy the $600 program or pay someone to use theirs. Really Sucks. Photo shop Elements 8.0 doesn't convert color either.... Crap.
@solutions51com: CMYK is not available in Photoshop Elements. You either have to find someone with Photoshop or let the printer convert the format (and hope that your colors don;t shift)
**DAVEEEEEEEEEE** I NEED HELP, OK i see all of this but i have Photoshop Elements 7.0 and i cant find the CMYK option, I am running a windowns xp... Thank you......

Then why do magazines have such vibrant colored pictures? They have to convert to cmyk for print, don't they?

Is there any kind of math formula to turn RGB red (hex FF0000) to CMYK red (hex E60012)?
