fact of the matter- is you willingly end the life of another human being in a non-self defense situation, or a non- assisted suicide situation, then it is murder. it does not matter in an individual or the state doe sit- it's wrong.
killing someone will not bring the other person back, it just lower the executioner to their level. two wrongs don't make a right. state authorized murder is still murder- IT"S JUST PLAIN WRONG!
if you buy that eye for an eye bible bullshit, move to saudi arabia!
Forget the religious debate, Old Testament, New Testament, it does not matter. My view against the death penalty is strictly from a procedural one. We allow a legal entity (our Government) to send people to their demise if 12people on a jury find beyond a reasonable doubt that they committed the capital murder (in Texas). I would be fine with this if anyone knew what the hell a reasonable doubt is. We will never know because humans are flawed; Innocent people will continue to be put to death.
@mer476 It is not a matter of innocent or not. Romans 14;10-13, Who the real judge is,and the judge is the light of God which attracts the saved at his second coming when God judges the living and the dead repelling the once who are not saved.God wants to give a fantastic gift to those that do good to whoever is loving, forgive, and repentant of doing hateful things to anyone.Cain had a mark on him to deter anyone from even killing him. Teach whoever to seek the ultimate prize loving whoever.
@arturozapanini Though the bible, torrah and qu'ran all dictate [at least] "eye for an eye" justice, our state laws don't reflect on God's 10 commandments to justify the death penalty. Your use of the 10 commandments as the law an inmate was "killed... with" makes you appear as just a run-of-the-mill Christian hater because if you were a Christian, you'd know those commandments are for YOU and not institutions, corporations, governments or groups. They're for individuals.
@Jafromobile I understand your point. I conceive of the law of the old testament law (or ten commandments) as inconsistent with the new testament message of "love thy neighbor as thyself," "turn the other cheek" and "let you who is without sin cast the first stone." Those phrases (and others from the new testament) are not often so ostentatiously displayed in courthouses as "foundations" of our US system of justice. Christ preached forgiveness of sin, not the social necessity of crucifixion.
@arturozapanini Agreed. Though the people who live by those principles of humility rarely end up standing before the US justice system. Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord. I agree. I also believe it's okay if Texas has an express lane checkout system to accelerate the process if they are actually that criminal. There's a responsibility to protect people. If innocent people are executed, of course it's mankind's justice system that's flawed, not His, and those deeds would not go un-punished.
@Dominater521 I'm not saying I know everything, but understand that not EVERBODY follows the new testament. For the most part, yes, but better not to assume, you know?
@Jafromobile Matthew 5:43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.Seek God who loves all giving eternal life.
His wife did not testify against him at his trial. She supported him during his trial and for years afterward. She only turned against him years later before his execution.

@Jafromobile I don't know about the torrah or qu'ran, but the new testament is the exact opposite of "an aye for an eye"
