I love this ... 'it's really tricky piece to get right' Pretty much all of Albeniz' work requires almost 'savant-like' quitar ability as far as I'm concerned!
Great tone and technique! In my opinion, I think the piece loses a bit of its charm at that tempo, especially the really lyrical bits like the part in C major and the Meno Mosso of the part in E.
Does anybody know who was the first to transcribe this piece for guitar? I thought it might have been Tarrega's student Llobett, but I'm not sure. Tarrega was the first to transcribe Cadiz and Granada. Nice playing by the way, this piece is a bit difficult.
i had a teacher from UNLV come by my school, he was playing classical stuff and he said he loved metal when he was younger, then heard a song that sounded "very metal, very metallica" to him, "yet kept its classical roots" i dont remember what the song was called but ive been searching for it all day, searching songs that i find on google and shit like that, if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated
well u are right! that's exaclty what happens with transcriptions! what i wanted to say that this one wasnt having the NOTES albeniz wrote, by meaning that when the piece had an E note the transcriptor wrote like G (!) I did not say u dont know how to play, but i think it would be better for u to look at sb playing the original on piano and then decide wich transcriptor u choose. FRIENDLY ( <-dont u miss that ) PapagiannisWoW
im really srry but man either u cant read well either the transcriber wasnt a good guitarist. Technicaly u are really good! i might be 13 y old but i know the guitar and i know this piece. i just uploaded a vid featuring me playing this. Listen to it and listen to all the others that have played it. trust me, these are not notes written by Albeniz...
I can read pretty well, but there are many transciptions for this piece, I've tried a couple of them, this happens to be the one I liked best.
Albeniz was a pianist, and all of his works that have been adapted with notes played in different registers to make them possible to play. A few of his pieces have been re-worked into more suitable keys such as Cadiz and Granada.
Hey I am alright, I just haven't felt like playing much recently, and I don't practice or write when I'm not in the mood.
So you've had a bashing, it happens, though I don't know why people who don't like what one does just accept that we aren't all the same. People can be curious. I bet the culprit doesn't have any videos of their own.
Aren't these negative commentators amazing? I think this music is fabulous and you play it very well. I'd like to see some of these naysayers strut their stuff!

You are very, very gifted ;) I have just recently moved to classical guitar (from rock) and i am nowhere near your level. But seriously, that piece is played professionally. I really aspire to you, your a great guitarist.
I'm sorry I don't have one, I memorised this from a book I borrowed, though I'm sure that it would be easy enough to find a score on the internet - it is in the Public Domain, so no copyrights to make it awkward. Just do a search, one will come up for sure.
Well hell Paul, I cant really give you a very accurate opinion due to inexperience but I liked your performance! I havent been studying too long but your show gives me a little more insight on free and rest strokes........ good stuff Paul.
Thanks for your kind words, it could be a bit better, but not for a while yet. Later on in the week I post some Sor, but I'm not which one - any suggestions?
I've been playing for ages, but I started to get serious with classical about three years ago when I got into writing. I might well post some more Albeniz next week.
Thanks again for you support, my compositions seem to be gaining some interest, very pleased by that.

Christopher Parkening has arranged this piece and SUPERBLY RECORDED this PIECE on Angel Records in the 1970's...
Check out Mr. Parkenings Version, SO SMOOTHLY FLOWING and IMMACULATELY played = a Segovia Student, the BEST I HAVE
HEARD, i.e. in my OPINION.

I think the piece you may be thinking of is 'Asturias' by Albeniz, often known as 'Leylanda', Or it could be 'The Miller's Dance' by Manuel De Falla.
Let me know if this was what you was thinking of.
