Ice Skating - The Lutz Jump

guys be carefull if youre pro or newbie. cause when i was doing this move in a comp i got my foot work wrong and this made my landing go wrong so that cause my end to fail because i fell and broke 2 parts of my legs performing this. newbies do not try ANY of these pro move cause you will get HURT!!!

@shuteyethief Yes you are indeed correct, after watching again I saw what some skaters like Michael do which is swerve off the edge and right back on right before the pick enters the ice and its from shifting your weight too much when pre-rotating the arms for the jump.

I don't have a long back outside prep edge for my lutz. I do what ever I feel like before being on a RBO edge and then cross my left foot over it onto a LBO edge, get arms ready, pick in my right foot and jump. In other words I do; RFI 3, cross over onto a LBO edge, bend left leg, reach back with right foot to pick in while bringing in arms to take off. Sometimes I do RFI Mo, step onto RBO, cross onto LBO edge and the above.

at first i didn't really like the lutz jump, no one did, it was kindof, i donno, scary? but my last couple of years of figure skating i loved the lutz jump! it felt so awesome! so satisfying! i still do it at home on the ground lol, cause i can't get enough of it! i hate the salchow though. THAT is an evil jump.

@WaterMelonGurlz94 so agree. lol, who invented it, because it is the weirdest jump of all time. i would attempt a double flip, toe loop, lutz, anything! if you asked me to - but the salchow. i hate it. a single salchow is bad enough. i don't understand people who like to practice their double salchow first.. i would never land that!

I think they might be Coplanar? Not sure but they look similar to a pair of Coplanar blades I saw before.

Okay guys CHILL. This is a great jump(: My personal favorite to perform. Anyways, a great tip is to dig your right foot even farther behind you and pull yourself over it while jumping(:

The difference of the edge causes me to get scared and when I put my toe into the ice i keep it in the ice for too long. :S It's a mental block that i need to get over.

They should have mentioned in the vid that the Lutz jump is very similar to the loop jump. Your arms pretty much, do the same thing. :] Oh! I landed my best Lutz jump i've ever done this morning :] My instructor and me were like, YESS!!! :D It was awsome. Like woosh! Lmao!

It's not really that hard since you work your way through the easy jumps to the hard jumps. It just takes alot of time and a good instructor.
