  • FRED FRED FRED

  • please help me, andrewshadowy. do you know any C64 game that´s very similar to "fred" mechanic? the character collects keys ( and jewels? ) while he unlocks levels of what seems an infinite maze ( the screens repeat themselves as he makes progress ). thank you!!

  • @peluchetaiwanes I am sorry one doesn't come to mind but maybe someone reading this may be able to help!

  • @Andrewshadowy China Miner?

  • @Andrewshadowy MOCTEZUMA´S REVENGE, ALSO KNOWN AS PREDATOR!!

  • Music so much better than the Amstrad version. Ghost still look crap though :P

  • lol i didn't know there was an amstrad version!

  • @Andrewshadowy Yeah, only Fred was renamed 'Roland'. Weird eh? Wonder if he had a European cousin named Rolando?

  • @Andrewshadowy Heh, I've just uploaded the Amstrad version! Hence me finding this to check out other versions - I didn't know there was a C64 or Speccy version!! I found out it was called Fred originally and went searching and here I am. It's called "Roland On The Ropes" the CPC one, I think this version is arguably technically better, but it doesn't have the same retro charm of the Amstrad one ...seems like it's less fun.

  • I was considering about uploading a video from this one few months back, but didn't enjoy playing this very much so I let it be.

    Thanks for doing this.

  • It was one of my favourite games on my Spectrum, so i just had to get and try it out on the Commodore 64. Did you like it on the Spectrum?

  • I have to admit never playing a single Spectrum or Amstrad game. Everyone I knew had a c64.

I got High Noon with my c64 and this one has the same theme music (from the movie). I also had several more colorful and innovative games on c64 at very early stage. For example, have you seen Shamus Case 2 and Pitfall 2. Both of these platformers were also released in 1984 for c64.

  • Hi. I was trying to figure out this music for ages and i knew it well but couldn't remember what it was of from. Thank You for jogging my memory and your comment. Thank You again
