But I keep comparing those delving into the symphonic/gothic metal genre with Nightwish and then, of course, I can't appreciate them in light of such musical mastery. Oh Nightwish, your musical genious forever completes and haunts my musical experience :( ... :)
There is just something powerful about symphonic metal. I don't know what it is...but its almost like they took what was happening in the 80s with the emergance of the genre and meshed it with opera which has been around for countless centuries and the bold move seemed to work great. Either way, you can truly thank Therion and Theatre of Tragedy for being the true front runners of symphonic metal.
I have to say that a lot of female fronted metal band arent for everybody. I personnally like them. I think of you are a fan of more progressive music it is easier to get into. Dont get me wrong I love death metal too, but you can only listen to one style of music for so long then it gets boring.

@3dDuke in my opinion, knowing how to use the voice means being able to sing, her voice is good and if she has no school behind that's not a problem. alot of great musicians (in metal think about DRI or even jimi hendrix) wrote the history of music without even knowing how to write what they were playing.

Whoever thinks that seriously has issues with their own sexuality. This is a brilliant song, Leaves' Eyes best actually. And no Liv isn't the msot beautiful girl ever, but she has her own charm and I think any bloke that would kick her out of bed needs to ask himself seriously about his sexuality.

the song of this videoclip is pretty banal, I come from the 80s, the era of LPs, of Judas Priest, of Metal Church... this is just MTV pop rock

Aniway I like everything that is metal except for metalcore, nu metal and deathcore, that said my favourite genre is Thrash\groove and Viking

@3dDuke in my opinion, knowing how to use the voice means being able to sing, her voice is good and if she has no school behind that's not a problem. alot of great musicians (in metal think about DRI or even jimi hendrix) wrote the history of music without even knowing how to write what they were playing.
the singer of leave's eyes can use her voice aswell but there's alot of singers prettier than her, the pity is that the song is weak compared to others

@Crodinzo Ok I agree with you *cheers* but I think Leave's Eyes have some nice songs and I think she has a great voice and can sing quite well. About being pretty, it's all subjective. And let's say I don't like female voices that much, it actually sounds a bit horrible on metal to be honest. I don't like the mix between harsh guitar sounds and thin vocals. Doesnt fit in I think
