this video shows the start of when the bbc began to rip us off because they advertise on this network and they own it hence they make alot of money from it the whole point of the licence fee was to broadcast channels with no adverts and have we ever had a reduction to compensate NO thanks bbc!
@longrodvonhugendon I'd like to state that UKTV has never been funded by the Licence fee, the network is a joint operation between BBC Worldwide (the commercial arm of the BBC) and Virgin Media (or Flextech as it was in 1997), the point of the service is for BBC programmes to be shown again paid for through commercials and subscriptions and any profits left go to BBC WW which also gets put back into the main the BBC. The Licence Fee only pays for the BBC branded TV channels in the UK.
@steviegTVreturns when i emailed the bbc to ask them they did confirm that licence payer money was used to set up bbc worldwide and also money made from this venture is put back into programing but my original point still stands why do we need the tax when they seem to have enough money to form tv stations and pay jonathan woss 18 million a year! also the bbc have dropped there law on product placement another form of advertising which is why top gear has hollywood stars on all of a sudden fishy
@longrodvonhugendon Licence payers money was used when WW/Enterprises was formed, which was the early 1980s since then it's been a profitable organisation, which is what is created for. JR was only on £6M per year, not £18M, it was £18M for 3 years, although that doesn't matter now as he's gone. And having Hollywood celebs on TG is not new, it's no different than having a celeb on Parkinson (when it was on) plugging a new film. BBC doesn't do product placement, if they did there would be uproar!
@steviegTVreturns it dosent matter that they paid one man 18 million of our money think how many programmes they could of made with that and its not just him even average news readers earn way over the odds there have even been statments from the bbc saying we wont publish how much our stars earn as this would cause public outrage! i still think the licence should be reviewd as it was set up as there only money source now they make millions without us and this should be considerd thats all!
I don't know what time the last Gold bar logo was shown, but before the Generation Game, there was an in-vision announcement from Glen Allen basically saying Goodbye and that the new look UK Gold was less than an hour away, unfortunately I didn't record it.
UKTV is still a company, it's just the UKTV brand is being ditched across the channels, to be fair when the channels are UKTV Something, it doesn't sound as right. We currently have Watch, Gold, Dave, Alibi which will soon be joined by Blighty and Eden (formely People and Documentary), sometime in 2009 I believe.

When did UK Gold show the golden bar logo for the last time and showed the UKTV look for the first time? Just curious.
