it's not that hard - I've got a 3 star ranking in all cups. I used Daisy and Mach Bike, manual steering (mach bike has really good mini-turbo). The trick is to just play the same cup over and over until you know the levels by heart, and make sure you don't do any mistakes at all

All I can say is that the Funky Kong/Flame Runner(Bowser Bike in UK) is becoming so overrated! I say that my mii and the quacker is great. sure the quacker has bad top speed compared to Flame Runner but look at the Acceleration! great for recovery!!!!!!!!! Use the Quacker!(this post was informative :) )

get a one star ranking by doing really well in all four courses in a cup. (staying in first as much as you can) and at the end you should get a score of like 53 or better. 2 and 3 star rankings are kind of the same thing but are harder to get.
