  • no dirt

  • I hate that the guy clicked through that sick roll at the end. destroying a moment of beauty like that with your clicking...smh

  • @stubbyt34 it's most likely their tech. so he's doing it for a purpose.

  • They Were so raw

  • @Indexlove45 amen

  • Oh Ralph..

  • that drum looks a little high fir that short girl

  • that drum looks a little high fir that short girl

  • chick looks so uncomfortable lol

  • That beast snare at the very beginning, yeah, that's my band director :)

  • "if you want to be the best, you have to play at chest level"

  • @drumguy2194 LOL

  • The drum on the girl could be raised a littleee bit more

  • @SNAREDOOD6969 dude these guys had some crazy music. and this is practice. so dont be going off about politics and shit, because these guys kicked ass.

  • Sorry Cadets fanboys, this drumline isn't even a patch on the ass of the 96 Devs.

  • @360Alexrules08 lol uh, not even close to the 1996 Blue Devils.

  • This is some of my favorite Cadets writing ever

  • how about having a half nude guard member in front of you while you're ramming some serious roll patterns. that's hot.

  • Comment removed

  • i dont understand how you can drum like that with your arm below the drum....

  • the tuning<3

  • Who's their center...Seth...idk...?

  • @CleanBeats94

Seth whitaker (?) was the center in '06.

    Heidi was center in '05.

  • how long was she with cadets?

  • Is it just me, or do those drums look very large?

  • i feel sorry for the chick, her drum was WAY too high for her

  • @xXW4RH3ROXx i know right!! she has to though cause at thsi time it wasnt about what was comfortable, it was about every snare looking the same.

  • @thsma2009 Which I will never be able to accept. IT just doesn't seem right to me.

  • 1:14-EnD=mE jIzZiNg EvErYwHeRe.

  • not being sexiest but that girl has to work the hardest at snare because its so high i mean i play snare and sometimes when my snare stand is to high my shoulders kill me when i play. She has to work the hardest to be clean with those guys because playing that high is considered bad technique.

  • OMG home girls snare is HIGH!!!!!!!

  • I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say the camera is creating that fuzz

  • Comment removed

  • nope

  • yes... Ashley was the center for cadets in 05 but decided to march raiders in 06 and 07 then go on to Crown in 08 and 09 finally be the center at crown in 2010.

To be serious, no it is not Ashley. Her name is Heidi, she aged out in 05

  • @drmmrboy88 HECK no.

  • Great slice at 0:44.

  • @cyborg096 he's better than you.don't be such a snotty critic.

  • @marche111 Oh calm down, I love the Cadets.

  • I love the Cadets but one thing I really don't like is how they match drum heights. It looks really stupid and provides no benefits at all and in fact hinders a vertically diverse line.

  • You can't say it hindered the Cadets at all. They won drums that year.

  • Yes I can. Just because they won doesn't mean that there weren't drawbacks to having the drums set the way they were.

  • @mmmmbert The crazy thing about them winning drums is that about from the triplet rolls to the end ripped from the rest of the corps at finals. Regardless, its awesome haha.

  • @budwayz

it didn't rip @ finals...it ripped @ quarterfinals. I assume you are talking about one of the vids you saw on youtube - most of them are of quarterfinals.

  • @alexcart7 oh yup thats the one. haha my bad.

  • @mmmmbert They won EVERYTHING that year. =P

  • Well, lets see does it really hinder them?

    Drum Trophys...

The should have won drums in 2000, but ticked a unison at the end of the drum feature in front of the judge. 2001... win 2002 win 2003 win again 2004... dunno what happened there. 2005 win... 2006 more notes than any line, that book was crazy and was never as clean as it needed to be. 07 some dirting out at finals on "easy things" and a.hard book. 08 lots of changes, the original book was legit,. 09 fall = fail.

  • @Ridebmx34521 They didn't win high drums in 04. Vanguard did.

  • not complaining but why is the girls snare so high up?

  • cuz she's the best, and she kicks ass

  • we play New World with these drum parts, minus a diddle or 2...soo hot

  • omg DIDDLES FUCKING DIDDLES FUCKING DIDDLES ON TOP OF THAT IN CHESS I JUST CAME IN MY PANTS FOR LIKE THE 3000th time watching this.

  • god that run in the chess part is so sex

  • ARAiehm-9lets and trip rolls are not the same thing. u r right that trip rolls and sixtuplets are the same (6 notes per beat,12 per two beats, 4 per quarter note tiplet). 9lets on the other hand are 9 notes per two beats (3 notes per quarter note triplet).

  • cool vid

  • a ninelet into a trip roll is the same rhythm they are both sixtuplet based.

unless im wrong. i know they write things in 'ninelets' but really, its the same thing as a 3, or a 6, just the length.

and those are the same lenght as a trip roll. 1 count trip roll is the same as 1 sixtuplet.

correct me if im wrong. btw im not bashing cadets, just trying clarify wat you are saying

  • I think he meant ninelet as in a 4.5let. In other words, 9 notes in 2 beats.

  • perhaps im wrong here, but i think that you may not have this correct.

a ninelet is nine notes in two beats, three in the space of every quarter note based triplet.

a sixtuplet is 6 notes in every beat

2 beats of sixtuplets is 12 notes

2 beats of ninelets is 9 notes

therefore, they can not be the same

  • ya the guy below me got it. i misunderstood what he meant. i thought he meant like 3 16th note triplets, but he meant an actual ninelet lol.

so ya your right, if they were exactly the same there would be no reason for them

  • I've got two words for this. Piss Clean

    Excellent Job!!!!

  • I feel so bad for that girl, the drums practically up to her chin.

  • Yeah she needs to lower that shit, not good to play that high.

  • the reason they make her do that is for uniformity all the drums need to be on the same level so the arm height is the same

  • don't feel bad, she's beating the $h!t out of it

  • yes, yes she is. lol

  • half of them are from the blue devils.....

  • @rreemmzzrruullee none of them are from the blue devils. zero percent of them. even if they were, what does that say about the cadets that they actually left bd to be a cadet.

  • i was talking about rcc.....

  • @rreemmzzrruullee oh i see that makes more sence.

  • But then there are Cadets that do leave to become a Blue Devil ;)

  • @americasnextopm0del there was 1. and he didnt march this year. im sure there were blue devils that left to become cadets

  • Go on tour and play no flams, cheese,or inverts.... not for me

  • why would you want that when you know it wount be clean like this? this is the most incredibly clean shit ive ever heard. anyone can play cheeses and inverted flam 5's, but it takes something really special to be this clean.

  • miraclessssssssss <3 it only sounds like one snare!! :D

  • holy fuck i wish my snare line could play this clean!!!

  • im gonna start calling pardiddles and paradidllediddles cadetadiddles and cadetadidllediddles for obvious reasons. :)

  • this is awful to listen to. its dead on and clean but the tuning of the snares to that wet fat cardboard sound makes their fast rolls sound like mung. paradidledidle yo!

  • The tuning is for good sound quality in the bleachers with the rest of the ensemble. Maybe if all the fans were 10 feet in front of the drumline for every show they'd have to change their tuning. Listen to how the snares sound on the field with the rest of the corps; much different. Phantom does the same thing and it works pretty well.

  • totally agree.... this was my favorite snare sound ever ....... from far away of course

  • I think the way Rennick tunes up Phantom's drums to ring more made em sound much better. Personally I think their drums are tuned the best.

  • this book seems to easy...lots of rolls.

  • ha it's so hard, you just a newb.

  • One thing you have to consider is that 8 people are playing this at the same time at that speed. Its not too difficult if you're playing by yourself, but the interpretation and touch of every stroke has to be the same to play this cleanly. Also, you have to play this way while marching the exact same way all day everyday. Consistency. Thats what makes this hard.

  • 15 years of experience yet you only list 5 years of experience?..... Also rock band doesnt count for jack shit when it comes to this. Completly different and in no way would it make you able to play like this. Pwned

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahaha that's funny

  • You're dumb.

  • Comment removed

  • it doesnt matter how hard the music is, a lot of lines play simple rythms like phantom but its clean as balls, lol

i love the cadets i would march for them but im not trying to step off on the right foot, lol

  • Phantom definitely doesn't play simple rhythms. I would actually consider this easier than what Phantom plays, because it's mainly paradiddle type rudiments. Not saying it's easy, I just think Phantom has more variety in rudiments and rhythms.

  • Phantom and Cadets have very similar vocabulary in terms of notes, so i dont know what youre talking about. A cadets drum book is usually much denser than a phantom book.

Dont be so fast to knock a book on an except. There are tons of excepts of phantom books where i can just say "oh 8th note rolls, phantom plays simple rhythms"

  • I still disagree. But we all have our opinions I suppose.

  • going into it, i thought transcribing the beginning solo, i thought it would be kinda hard, but once i broke it down, its really simple, just straight 16th notes, diddles, and accents. my drum director is the guy who starts off the solo, so ima check with him for accuracy on Monday.

  • its weird seeing baker march

  • yea, only cuz we've seen him in a boonie hat n' sun glasses barking at us through a mic from the top of the tower during marching season, seeing him casual makes it hard to imagine him marching

  • thats tom for you.

  • tom?

  • chick is playing at her eyeballs

  • Make Cadets, then talk...

  • lol, crybaby. i just said i don't like them. you don't have to agree. like i don't like madison county snare line. probably because they're the gayest drumline in dci these days. oh wait, you march there, eh? my bad...

  • Ok, first off, that was the stupidest thing I've ever heard...Madison County is a high school, dude. Second of all, I march Madison Scouts snareline...I can tell you don't march anywhere, because drum corps fans and members have more respect for each other than to bash each other.

  • nope, never did march anywhere, doesn't bother me either. didn't have money or time for it and who knows, i may not have been good enough to make any of the lines i would've wanted back then. point is, you got bent out of shape after i said a GOOD line ought to be able to do cadets do (because cadets are fucking good) but they're pussin out with the constant paradiddle sissy shit.

  • I've played some of that "sissy" music; it's not easy, dude.

  • no, no it's not, but i expect better from a group as talented as cadets. look at old cavies stuff. ever seen flowus foo kee dehee?

  • i also have had several friends march corps ( SCV, crossmen, carolina crown, cavies) and they all talk shit. everyone does it. it's hard to ignore the fact that it takes talent to make any of those lines, but it's rivalry, it happens.

  • thats how its done......

  • cadets are fickin sick

  • their snare book is always amazing

  • Uniformity.

  • is it me or does that snare look extremely high on the girl in the middle O.O

  • it is, but the cadets always have their snares at the same level, whether it cost the player or not. so i guess it's just something that takes getting used to.

  • ehh.

idk how i feel about that. cause you can automatically tell it looks awkward, and i dont really pay attention to how all the drums are a the same height as much as whether or not the player looks uncomfortable. thats juts me tho

  • it goes any higher she will hit her head. lol.

  • its not just you, but it looks better when all snares are up the same level.

  • um, wrong. he's still marching forward.

    good try though.

  • FUCK

i thought i finally caught a mistake made by a dci drummer. haha

  • Nope just made an ass out of yourself...

    Nice try though

  • no, i didnt make an ass out of myself.

idk why people get offended so easily. like really, you and at least 6 other people are offended that i thought a drummer made a mistake?

hate to break it to you, but if you look for mistakes, you are sure to find some, even in dci

  • True, but not something as obvious as that. These people are professionals.

  • do you have the blake owens tenor thing from cadets 2005 on from vic firth?

  • luv the sweaty half naked females in the color guard XD

  • the thing about the tuning of these drums is that they are so wet so sometimes it is hard to tell what is clean and what isn't

  • well yea most drumlines want level drums, my highschool does that, im just saying she looks particularly awkward.

  • I don't think i heard a single flam in that entire passage.

  • because the majority of this video is from the ballad section of the show...just saying.

  • the center snare, she can play but she looks really uncomfortable, do you think its because they had to raise her drum a lot to compensate for the height of the rest of the snare line?

  • At the cadets they believe all drums should be level, even if it costs comfort for the player.

  • wow they tuned them really wet that year i guess...

  • evidently

  • This is true, but I like it a lot. It reminds me of raw fucking drum corps from the 80's and early 90's. I like it a lot. Plus, it's piss-clean.

  • sickly cleanliness, creative writing, AND NO NARRATION!!! These are things I love about the cadets.

  • 05 had tons of narration

  • The drumspeak wasn't narration. They used the technology to innovate their already abstract concepts. They spoke for less than 10 seconds in the whole show, and their program wasn't reliant on it in any way. In '07 and '08, their programs wouldn't have made any sense with the narration taken out, they used it as a means of effect. What they did in '05 was innovative and original, comparable to the first Matrix film. The designers then took it over the top, just like the next Matrix films.

  • Not tons, dude...

  • try playing that shit up to speed and clean as all hell with 8 other guys, then you can talk shit about cadets writing.

  • This was like :45 of the show.

And it was the BALLAD! Try checking the other parts for crazy beats.

And it's cleaner than you'll ever play.

  • I would like you to show me some sort of video of you playing paradiddles as fast as they are.

Then we can take what you said seriously. Untill then, just enjoy the 2005 Cadets. They won High percussion that year for a reason.

  • Buhzie15 has a point, man. This IS disgustingly clean.

  • one of them was slicing really bad but it still sounded great

  • the guy to the right of the girl is mr.baker!!!

  • our snareline uses the same stick i think they r sweet

  • yea...so do 1000 other drumlines do to.

  • they guy three in from the our right between about 0:42 and 0:50 is slicing slightly with his right hand.

Whatever...he's still better than I am.

  • haha yeah feel ya

  • Whatever they're playing when they're in the lot sounds BADASS.

  • i feel bad for the short one the drum is up so high to match the others

  • Look at the guy in the middle at 00:40. His face is priceless! (lol)

  • sheet music anyone?

  • yes

  • It's not that hard to transcribe.

  • sorry, correction *brannon, (i always do that)

  • i know brandon :p he tech'd the past year at our high school. (we went to nats :] got 12th, he's great!)

  • If you want to BE the best

you have to USE the best

and thats why phantom regiment uses innovative

    :P

  • lol @ thinking phantom is the best

  • agreed. lol indeed.

  • so...are those triplet rolls or what?

  • there 32nd note paradiddles

  • hm...you know where i can get the sheet music?

  • i think the only way to get it is if u kno somebody in that drumline

  • i have it

  • This is the part i play in my videos. Its Fun! And cadets are mad clean.

  • I was the short blonde guy on the end that year They dont permit us to do I and E, but just to give you an idea, the guy on the other end won I and E in 2006 with BD. Had money issues, bc is from CA. Cadets are good because Tom writes a good book, and the players have talent, dedication, and are willing to make playing together at the highest level a priority every time they strap on the drum. It makes them an intense corps to march and a tough summer, but its worth it 100%.

  • wait weren't you 16 this year, because fuck that

  • No, I aged out that year. There was one guy who was 16 or 17 though. On the second half of the video he was 3rd from right. 2005 was his 2nd season marching with Cadets.

  • thats rediculous, anyway you guys are raw

  • Wait, Mike Bierek marched Cadets in 2005?

  • Yeah, he and I were the only two rookies that made the snareline that year. I´m on one end, he´s on the other. He´s probably got the fastest hands I´ve ever seen though. Good snare drummer.
